Very sad indeed! My heart goes out to Julian and all of their family.
-
I could not believe it when I saw this while ago...so many Beatle people have passed over--what must Macca feel ?? And Julian and everyone who knew her personally and loved her, or knew Cyn from afar from her being a part of what's been called "the greatest music story ever told." She had an amazing life. It's impossible to feel sorry for her because of that, but I feel sorry this happened, its effect on her loved ones. Her physical suffering was not prolonged, her cancer battle was "short" which is a blessing.

i am so sad to hear this. I always admired Cynthia. She seemed like such a good person. Julian was so close to her; my heart goes out to him.

I was heartbroken when I got the news this morning that we lost Cyn. I had met her a few times and she was a classy, lovely, gentle lady. My heart goes out to Julian. I am just too deeply sadden for words by this shocking loss. Now Cyn is an angel in heaven.

Paul released a statement about the passing of Cynthia: ""The news of Cynthia?s passing is very sad. She was a lovely lady who I?ve known since our early days together in Liverpool. She was a good mother to Julian and will be missed by us all, but I will always have great memories of our times together." - Paul McCartney http://www.paulmccartney.com/news-blogs/news/paul-remembers-cynthia-lennon

I always had a warm feeling every time I watched her in interviews and documentaries. She got a raw deal, and John Lennon gave her PLENTY of reasons to be bitter -- but she always took the high-road and was eloquent, even when discussing the abandoning of Julian and her not-so-great times with John.

Even though I never met Cynthia or Julian, I could see the strong bond those two had as mother and son. I can't imagine how he hurts right now. Cynthia's love for Julian reminds me of my bond with my Mom. I cried today thinking of his pain, of losing his Mom. I would hope if I were ever a Mother oneday, I could be the devoted, loving, protective Mother that she was and always will be. The Tribute by Julian for his angelic Mom is the most heartfelt thing I have ever seen. Praying for Julian.
-
Yes sad, I didn't know her but I knew her through Beatles history and are therefore a part of my life anyway, even if it's not musically.
-
Very saddened by the news of Cynthia's death. She seemed a very nice down to earth person person who's life was forever affected by being once married to a Beatle and all that comes with that.
-
So sad to hear of Cynthia's passing and Julian and all her friends loss. She seemed such a brave woman and I hear she was a very kind person. The world has lost a dear soul.
-
Cynthia was one of the most beautiful women in the world, inside and out. I've always admired her. Such sad news for Julian and the world to have lost her, but he may view it that she is continuing her journey in a far superior realm/world than this. If so, I whole heartedly agree.

I share your impression of Cyn and echo the sympathies of everyone here. Mark Lewisohn wrote so memorably of her beautifully creamy white skin and tidy lettering skills from her days at the art school in Liverpool. George once said in an interview that Julian was so like his mother - a gentle soul.
