RIP Cynthia Lennon

Am I the only one - or one of the few people - who didn't know she had cancer? I'm a bit stunned by this news.
She kept it quiet. I just now heard that in Jan she was given only a few weeks.

Thanks for the info, oobu24.

Yoko's comments about Cynthia, sort of. And herself. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/yoko-ono-remembers-cynthia-lennon-she-embodied-love-and-peace-20150403
Such a nice gesture from Yoko. So sad. My thoughts go out to Julian too. Cancer can be so sudden. My grandpa died only one week after he had taken ill with a recurrence of the disease. Once it hits your vital organs, there's no stopping it.

Beyond sad & shocked. I don't think anyone outside of her family knew she was ill.

Daily Mail Online claims Cynthia called Alma Cogan the "true love" of John's life and she said his devastation at Alma's death led him to turn to Yoko two weeks after hearing the bad news. Supposedly Cyn told an interviewer in 1989 that John had told her Alma was the "reincarnation of his mother Julia." Paul lauds "many wonderful memories" he has of Cynthia, he doesn't go into detail, but it's sweet he said this on his home page of this site.

OT, but I read somewhere that Alma Cogen lived at Paul's house for a bit in the summer of '68. With Francie Schwartz and all the groupies around that summer, must have made for interesting times!

Alma Cogen was a splitting image of Julia indeed!

Except for Alma died in 1966. She couldn't be a reincarnation of Julia since they were both alive at the same time. Also Julia was much prettier than Alma imo. Cynthia was truly a Saint to stay with John as long as she did, and you all know how I love John. I am sure they had some great times though, and what relationship could survive such a transition as what the four Beatles and their wives, girlfriends experienced. Rest in Eternal Peace Cynthia!

Can't quite shake the sorrow over Cyn. She was an amazing woman.

Yes, and tomorrow will be a sad birthday for Julian.
-
This morning, during Breakfast With The Beatles, they played "Beautiful", Julian's song for his mum. Brought tears to my eyes....
-
I wish Cyn had made videos of her actually drawing, painting, etc. (she was an artist). I always thought she and Pattie were quite pleasant, seemed very nice. All the original Beatles women came across like that, actually. Cyn, Pattie, Maureen, Jane. And of course many who came after. (But not all )
-
Cyn was the first original Beatle wife. But she also was talented in her own right. Lovely, lovely lady.
-
Hard to believe it's been 5 years since Cynthia passed away!
John's father also died on April 1st in 1976. (2 weeks after Paul's dad died)
