Beatles Tribute Bands

I've seen a few tribute bands, and The Return (used to be called the Roaches) are by far the best. Just my opinion.
I've known Mike (George) and Adam (Ringo) since 1995 when they were 18 and I was 40 (you do the math!) Do you live in GA like me? They are really good, but have you ever seen The Fab Four? They are incredible!

The Fab Four Beatles Tribute band

@admin I LOVE Beatles Trib bands. Never seen a bad one yet. Here is a band called Cavern Beat, I filmed in The Cavern, Liverpool. Probably not the best I've ever filmed but it was difficult.
-
@wandy I’ve seen a LOT of Beatles tribute bands and those guys were pretty good. Have you seen The Cavern Beatles? Adam Hastings (John) joined them during the pandemic when he was “stuck” in England. (he’s from Northern England) He actually plays with imo the best Beatles tribute band, The Fab Four. They are spot-on, note for note, and very detail oriented with their outfits. The Paul even wears his watch on his right wrist!
Others I’ve seen are Liverpool Legends (in Branson, MO - Louise Harrison promotes them), Beatlemania (road show), The Roaches who had to change their name to The Return (some other group had the name & sued them!), 1964: The Tribute, Revolution, Rain (had right-handed Paul both times I saw them and I hate that!), Jukebox Beatles (from Puerto Rico - they are great and super nice guys!), The Cavern Beatles, The Norwegian Beatles (yes, they are from Norway!), Beatles Complete, The Rubber Souls, BritBeat (they are #2 best & are from Chicago), Blue Beetles, The Revolvers, and The Rubber Souls to name a few! I’ve seen them in concert halls, on cruise ships (most recently the Flower Power Cruise), at festivals like Abbey Road On The River and during Beatleweek in Liverpool at various venues. -
This is The Fab Four in 2018, but not sure who is playing John.
Same venue in 2019 with Adam Hastings as John.

@njr I have seen, Sir Frankie Crisp, a George Harrison tribute band. Great reproduction of George's music, but nobody dresses up like George Harrison which I am perfectly happy about. Instant Karma, a John Lennon tribute band. Guy sings great. Again no dressing up. Saw The Booleg Beatles, FABBA. The Counterfeit Stones, and an Elvis impersonator ( not the clichéd Las Vegas Elvis, but an Army uniform Elvis, the Beatles favourite Elvis ) all on the same bill at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It was just great.

@njr In 2006 we went to Chiswick House Gardens with the Counterfeit Beatles, to recreate what The Beatles did there in 1966. The Beatles filmed Rain and P Back Writer there. promo movies. The C Beatles played especially for us for FREE! WHA???? Anyway here is a brief film I made of them playing there in the exact spot where the real Beatles played in 1966.

The Beatles favorite Elvis was pre-Army 1954-1958. They very much disliked Army and post-Army Elvis. They started liking him again 1966 until probably 1968 when he did his Comeback Special and wore the leather suit. I doubt they liked the Vegas Jumpsuit Elvis.
I saw Elvis in concert in 1971 when I was 16 from the 3rd or 4th row! He was slim and at his peak!
Gavin Pring (George in The Fab Four) does a show called George Harry’s Son and he is FANTASTIC! He’s from Bootle, just north of Liverpool and you’d think it was the real George. Look him up on YouTube.
I saw a guy in 2011 during Beatleweek with an Army shirt on, but he was doing a John Lennon show - he was great! -
@wandy Where was “George?” I was at Chiswick this past Aug. 2022 and also in 2011.
-
@njr It wasn't George that was missing, it was John. They did say at the time why "John" couldn't come, but as it was 17 yrs ago, I can't remember now what they said. But we had a fab afternoon
-
@njr I think the guy in the army shirt might have been Gary Gibson. He's the best Lennon lookalike I've ever seen. I saw him in Liverpool dressed in army shirt, dark granny glasses, and black beret. Singing One After 909. I nearly missed my train back to London. He did a fab version.

Oh, sorry, I thought the guy playing with “Paul” was “John.”

I know who he is. You never saw Tim Piper in his prime though. He is 66 now (67 in June) but still does a John show called Imagine: John Lennon (he lives in CA, but I first saw him perform on a cruise ship in 2012 when he was 56 and he was great then.) Last time I saw him was in 2014.
-
@njr No apology necessary. Its making mistakes thats keeps us human. Do you know who said that? No? Me neither.
-
@wandy This guy was performing as John at Beatleweek 2011, but I don’t know who he is. He was good!
-
@njr It looks like Jay Goeppner from Lennon Tribute band, Instant Karma. I'm sure I have filmed IK. I will check my Beatles YouTube channel. If I have a film of him, singing with IK, I will post it here.

I am friends with Jay on FB and irl, but didn’t know him in 2011. Wasn’t until 2012 I met him at AROTR, but that could very well be him.

Here is Jay in Sept. 2021 at AROTR: (in 2nd pic he is with 3 members of Jukebox Beatles)
-
@njr Here he is singing with Instant Karma in Liverpool 2007. Sadly the lead guitarist wearing glasses, with the Brian May mullet, died suddenly several years ago. Hope you like the clip.
-
@wandy That was great! First time I’ve seen Jay unshaven! Would you mind if I sent it to him? I’m sure he would love to see it from over 15 years ago!
