First I've heard of this--a new book, "The Beatle Who Vanished" by Jim Birkenstadt, available from Amazon on eBook and paperback. For more info, go to: thebeatlewhovanished.com

Oh, so that's what this is about--not very exciting I was wondering if it's about Stu Sutcliffe.

It's an interesting book, but a tragic story.

Actually it's a pretty fun book. It's an uncharted story which is one reason why I went for it. I don't need to read the same story in the 608th Beatle book about Paul writing "Yesterday" in his sleep. So I give the author kudos for coming up with an original Beatles book. It's also one of the most well researched books I've ever read. Jim scratched the bottom of the barrel to find information on Nicol and did a great job. The last 3/4 of the book is also very exciting. Check it out!

JM filled in for Ringo when they played Australia in 1964. My mum, the reason I got into the Beatles, was forefront at the Southern Cross Hotel in Melbourne.... mayhem that day, one of the biggest congregations in Beatles history..... must have been an all confronting, surreal, magnificent experience for a fill-in drummer.... He goes down as another candidate of FIFTH Beatle, with about another six-nine candidates. I hope he is doing well.... Shame he couldn't capitalise on that pocket of fame and opportunity.... He's closing in on around 75 now.

Did Jimmy Nichol actually disappear? Is he a "missing person"? That really would be tragic. I always get such a shivery shuddering chill reading about missing persons. It's frightening.

I'm trying to get a copy of this book, I've got some other books by Birkenstadt and he always does a nice job. This is a fascinating story, too.
