I couldn't agree more.So looking forward to Melbourne Tuesday Dec 5 at AAMI Park with the family. And I just bought an excellent Bronze $70 ticket for myself to relive the experience the next evening too.I Can't wait !

Paul is on the cover of The Big Issue: https://www.thebigissue.org.au/magazines/2017/11/17/paul-mccartney/

So, I got my email from SLOTix yesterday about the VIP package (this is for Melbourne). It says check-in is between 2:30 and 3:00. I'll probably get there between 12 and 1. It says that the show starts at 6:30 which I assume means the pre-show etc. On Ticketek, it's only got the times for Brisbane and Sydney which say the "Main Act" will begin at 7 and 7:30 respectively.
Do we have noise curfews? I was hoping he'd be slated to appear at 8 and, given he's always on a bit later than the scheduled time, we'd only have half an hour or so of the concert in daylight.
-
To amend my earlier post, I've just had a reminder from Ticketek and they say that doors open at 5 (fair enough, we know that already) and to get there with plenty of time as there will be lots of security and that Paul MAY go on stage at 8PM sharp. So, it looks like he will be on at the usual time.
I'm not sure if this is just Melbourne or whether it's the same at the other venues.
-
Perth:
Please arrive early and allow plenty of time, as there will be high security at venue entrances and Paul McCartney may go on stage at 7:30pmprompt.
KEY TIMES
5:30PM | Public Gates Open
6:30PM | DJ Chris Holms
7:00PM | Paul McCartney Film Clip
7:30PM | Paul McCartney
*Please note times are a guide only and subject to change without notice -
Interesting. There's no schedule like that for Melbourne. Well, anyway, I guess we'll find out the trend tomorrow night.

Everybody out there... on the Perth thread? http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/forum/thread/1786
Maybe it’s just for me, but it’s seems like it doesn’t show up in the ‘Rock Show’ sub forum at the moment.

A big hello to veterans fo this thread, and also to people in Australia who have joined Maccaboard in the last year!
I think it's time to ressurect this thread because it's never too soon to start lobbying for Paul to return. Crucially, one thing that Paul's touring schedule has in common with Australia is that there is precendent for long droughts followed by floods. Here are some examples:
JAPAN:
Drought - 2001 to 2012
Flood - 2013, 2014 (cancelled due to illness), 2015, 2017
BRAZIL:
Drought - 1993 to 2009
Flood - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017
MEXICO
Drought - 2002 to 2009
Flood - 2010, 2012, 2017
-
Yeah, I was thinking about that. I thought part of the reason he hadn't been back for so long was because his team were scared off by the poor ticket sales in 2002. Somehow I don't think that was a problem this time around. However, I reckon so many people went thinking he'd never come back that tickets will not be as hot if he comes around again.
Although, please, come out in Winter next time. I really didn't much care for the first hour of the show being in broad daylight.
-
He's doing Canada nd the UK. Does anyone think he will come back to Australia? I've had to change my user name and re register. I was BLAKBRD and hae been on this thread from the beginning.
Cheers

Hi everyone,
I wonder if it might be time to revive this thread, by which I mean I wonder if there's a chance that Paul might be heading our way in early 2018? Here's all the "evidence" so far (if you have more, please add it!)...
1. In July, when Paul received his Helpmann Award for "Best International Contemporary Concert" in Australia, his video acceptance speech finished with: "I want to thank the people at Frontier, the people at Marshall Arts, and most of all the audiences of Australia. You were brilliant. Thank you very much, see you soon!" (This was reported in numerous news stories, for example: http://www.noise11.com/news/paul-mccartney-wins-helpmann-award-for-best-australian-concert-of-2017-20180717)
2. His Australian promoter, Frontier Touring, repeated the "See you soon" quote on social media (https://www.facebook.com/frontiertouring/photos/we're-delighted-to-congratulate-@[182736663312:274/10155561446132409/).
3. When the U.S. dates were announced today, People noticed there was also a phantom Australian date listed (https://www.facebook.com/FansOnTheRun/photos/p.2103698432997855/2103698432997855/?type=3&theater).
4. Frontier Touring have just sent out an email that includes a competition to win a copy of "Egypt Station" on vinyl and CD.
Fingers crossed that this might all mean something!!!
Just for fun while we wait to find out, here's a poll...
Cheers, Andrew.

He says "See you soon" or words to that effect at the end of every show .

Hello
I did a search and haven't seem to come across a post since December 2017, which is when Paul was in fact in Australia last. I went to his concert in Melbourne and it was a truly amazing show. Prior to that Paul was last in Australia in 1993.
Egypt Station has done a tonne of unique promotion, and it has made me certainly listen to it a few times, and I think it is great! There is even a wall mural of the album cover outside Melbourne Central Station!
It makes me think, Paul seems to go to Tokyo every other year and he is even visiting Japan again this year after last year's Out There tour.
Would he have a big enough market for us Aussies to want to see him again in the not so distant future, or is it a once in a lifetime chance? Most shows sold out at the last minute, after a great interview on the 60 Minutes programme.
Bruce Springsteen is another example of one who hadn't toured for years then had huge demand for tours over the next few years.
-
No. I think he's done with Australasia at least for the foreseeable future.
Hasn't played there for 25 years and shows "sold out at the last minute"?
UK shows sold out in minutes and he still plays here less than three times a decade.
-
I would not give up hope yet since he is doing a world tour. I hope something will turn up for Australia.
Paul has only started to announce U.S tour dates so I. sure je is not done yet with announcing other countries for tour dates.
-
I would honestly be very surprised if he turned up here again. I mean, I'd love to see him again but I'm not holding my breath.
That said, I've not heard of that mural at Melbourne Central. Anyone got any pictures? I don't have any plans to go into the city for a while so it'll probably be gone by the time I do.
-
I posted on the Freshen Up tour thread that Ticketmaster has an option for a show in Perth (nib Stadium) on January 1st. The link is broken. Not sure if this is some sort of glitch in the system or if there's something in the works that hasn't officially been released yet.

I was going to make a comment about a definite glitch given how far away it is before I realised we were already halfway through September. Man, in the time since I saw Paul, I could have conceived and given birth to a child (hypothetically, if I weren't male). How does time go that quickly? It's just nuts!
In all seriousness, though, he tends not to play over the Christmas period and he's already got 2019 dates starting again in May. Plus, when I see him again, I really don't want to see him in Summer. Not just for the heat but I found it a bit disappointing starting the show in bright sunshine. You don't get the thrill of all the lights going out and then suddenly, there he is! I remember him doing And I Love Her and singing 'Bright are the stars that shine. Dark is the sky.' I looked up and it was just getting dark.

I will try to on Monday morning. I hope it is still there. Pretty sure it's Londsale or Latrobe St.

You know what's even closer to Tokyo than Australia? This little country called China. But that's too far to fly, apparently.
