Oh how I miss Linda and how she ran Club Sandwich...
Club Sandwich was something special...and I think we were lucky to be a part of it. The newspapers were beautiful and every so often...a little surprise gift was thrown in. I was even offered a refund when they shut the doors. Just a lovely little operation. As stated in my previous post...I joined (paid) for access to pre-sale codes (which didn't arrive in time) to buy tickets. The way things work these days, most genuine fans will never be able to afford re-sale prices...and now that the cat's out of the bag on that one and no legislation will ever be able to limit online access to ticket brokers a world away from the venue...I highly doubt we'll ever return to the days of 'first-in-line gets the front row' ticket buying days of old. Still...when I see soundcheck prices which could only be afforded by henge fund managers impressing their dates (yeah, I'm exaggerating...but for most of us...those prices are simply staggering...NOT TO MENTION the fact that one can actually BUY THEIR WAY into that kind of access ☛ I freely admit...I would if I could!)...and find that the fans who bought the singles, bought the lps, bought the 8-tracks, bought the cassettes, bought the cds, bought the re-mastered cds, bought the mp3s...and still wish they could buy the 're-mastered re-issues' with all the extra stuff only we would realize is newly available archival material...but can't really justify having ten different versions of RAM (though...again...I would if I could! ) will never ever be in the front rows for face-value, nor get a chance to watch Paul and Band rock out in a pre-show 'show'...it's just kinda sad. Hope somebody up in Macca headquarters is reading these posts, because they just might realize that most of the people here are the ones who really matter. Yeah, we know that putting on a concert tour costs an arm and a leg. And we are EXCITED to see Paul touring so much. I'm sure many of us never thought we'd see him again at one point...so this is all good news. It's just frustrating...ya know?

I like the new website. I was a premium member...enjoyed it and appreciated the access to jukebox especially, but have most of this on itunes anyway. Eessentially as a fan, I just want to get information on Paul and his music. This site does this and seems more streamlined and I like that. Paul has always been very generous with sharing his experiences and music to his fans. Thank you. I will continue to access the site. Thank you in advance for the free download of Live Kisses. Watched it on PBS. So good. Again, very generous.

Although I tried to join the Premium Membershio agan and again, I have never suceeded it. Why do you need to make it so complicated? :

Unable to access paulmccartney.com, getting errors and "page not found" no matter what I do. This has been going on for the past few days. Is the main website down?

I, for one, believe that we got value for money. We didn't get an arm, a leg or anything we've all been dreaming of for the last 25 years. But that's not what most websites provide. Although large groups of people, as soon as any kind of money is involved, seem to expect that ...
You REALLY feel as though you got value for money?? Honestly? If so, I have a bunch of photos of McCartney you can come and have a look at for $60 if you want. I mean, you can't KEEP them or anything and I'll only let you look at them for so long before I either show them to everyone else or take them away, but never the less... Also, I'll let you play the albums you undoubtedly already own on your pc if you like. I'm sorry if that sounds sarcastic but I really DON'T feel as though I was given what I was promised (even if, in a literal sense, I was). I also don't think I got enough of what I did get to justify the price. And I think that the admins agreed. Why else would they offer to reset our subscription start dates? I'm genuinely happy for anyone who feels that the money they spent was worth it. I'd much rather people WERE happy. But I'm just not one of them. And it isn't about "moaning about anything" or having unrealistic expectations as soon as money is involved (this isn't aimed at Ymaginatif), it's about putting trust in someone and having that trust abused.

I have all of Paul's cds & then some...but it was cool to use the jukebox & listen to 'my' playlist. Or even 'your' playlist. It was cool. The videos & pics were found all over the net & were not only for the premium members. Our individual pages weren't the best but we could work with that. Why didn't MPL ask for our ideas before they just pulled the plug? Now the site looks & feels like one big info-mercial. : SAD.

A total refund would be the honerable thing to do, otherwise, yeh .. Paul fleeced us, the site never got out of BETA mode, paid members were told our subscriptions would begin from that date. Didn't happen, service not provided. Full refund please MPL.
Sorry but I don't see how most pioneers/premium folks here were in any way fleeced. Most people bought premium memberships a year ago. And if you did, you got nearly 12 months of benefit out of the site, beta or not. Pretending you didn't -- especially when so many people are in the midst of complaining about all the premium features they want restored -- makes no sense. "I want my money back! And please bring back the Jukebox -- after you've refunded my money." The only people who deserve a refund are those who signed up in the past few months. The rest of us bought a year-long membership. After nearly a year, it got discontinued. So it lasted as long as you thought it was going to last when you signed up.
As Rodrigo points out, we never did get the full premium membership we were promised: "When I paid $60 to become a premium member of paulmccartney.com, I received a message saying that I would get access as a premium member for one year, starting from the day in which the website stops being "beta version". As far as I am concerned, the website never left its "beta" condition. So, this means I have paid $60 for a service I have not and will not receive. Consequently, I think it would be fair if we get a total refund. Rodrigo" The premium content wasn't premium, as just about all of it was available to non-premium members on the site, as well. The only thing we really got was the Jukebox feature that non-premium members got. We're just going on what MPL communicated with us, that we would get a year of premium membership from the time when the site left beta. Well, beta is gone now, and so is our premium membership.
I just checked the email I received from the site when I signed up. And there is no such wording about the beta phase. I think people are confusing something the Admins posted on a thread with something they received in their email from the site. The Admin's comment that our membership wouldn't start until the site was out of beta came AFTER we'd signed up. It wasn't part of the initial agreement. My email lists a specific expiration date of my premium membership. It says nothing about beta.
I trust you, so I won't look this up and will state that it might be the case that the e-mail didn't state that our membership would last the year after beta. However, WAS it stated by administration as a promise to premium members? Yup. It doesn't matter if it was stated at sign-up or shortly thereafter: it was stated. It's an expectation that the administration will follow through on what they told us fans. It's poor business practice and there are many of us who are not happy about it. You don't promise fans something and then not deliver on it, instead sending an e-mail thanking us for being loyal fans and then asking for our feedback on the site. As I said earlier, it might not have been as irksome if they had given us some sort of warning. Instead, they swooped in, took it away, and told us AFTER the fact. Yes, I have a right to complain about that, and so do others.
Here's what my emailed receipt displayed when I purchased my Premium Membership: "Premium Membership: Premium Membership. Please note that your membership package will ship within 28 days of the date of your order. 1 $50.00 Lithograph Plectrum 4x Button Badges Membership Card & Letter T-Shirt Fan%2freceipt%2ficon_note This product is fulfilled by Topspin Fulfillment UK. In my final statement of cynicism: I hate to "go there," but I'm wondering if the Premium Membership charge was the strategy to cover the costs for the BETA phase. We paid for their test-marketing expenses. It sorta' feels that way, but I'm not convinced. This will blow over, and I'll go on lovin' Paul -- but, man, what a bummer this whole thing has turned out to be. I think they're gonna make it up to us. -live-streams of shows -portals to purchase past concerts via download -occasional free downloads of rarities or other unreleased music These will generate huge activity at the site. I'm not expecting a refund -- although every person who purchased a Premium account in the recent past is entitled to one.

Will we be receiving refunds? I did not get an entire year of membership
Nor me,what a waste of time frankly the premium membership was just that,a choice to pay for content that others could also access for a fee it just doesn't ad up why they've suddenly decided to change it now.
Hello to all I am one of those who still has his original 45 of "she loves you", who stood in line with the rest 5 x over the years for tickets to shows, bought each album as they were released etc etc . I went for the $50.00 premium membership three months ago (a year's membership) and now nothing. this isn't the way paul mccartney works; what gives? Please don't patronize me with a "bag of goodies". I would like what i paid for please.

I posted this info. earlier (pg. 8 of this thread!), but maybe it bears repeating. I paid $60.00 and became a Premium Member on Oct. 13, 2012 (under a different user ID, btw). So, 19 DAYS later, I'm told that all memberships are canceled. Why were they continuing to sell memberships at that late date? Could this decision to change things really have happened that quickly? Or, can the website administrators really be that inept? If Paul is ever told about the extent of this debacle, I think he'll be pretty embarrassed.

CAA:

Seriously? He must already know...he's a businessman and this was probably, in fact, his decision. Paul's too switched on to let a decision like this be made without his knowledge. After all, those representing him as Admins of this site are working for him and are carrying out work in his name - he's not daft! There's no point in complaining. Of course it's disappointing that some of the fantastic features of the Premium site have gone, but the majority of us had unlimited access for a year, which is what we signed up for, and the goodies we were sent initially would retail at over the £50 we paid to subscribe.
-
I found myself being very confused by the email I got about the website, then getting upset, but I think I need to step back, not make assumptions, and ask a few questions. Maybe an admin can answer. I'll also leave my opinions about what I'd like to see. 1. The email does not say that premium memberships are going away, it only says they will not feature on the new website. Have the premium memberships in fact ended or not? Or do they continue, just not with a website component? 2. If they have ended, will those who just joined recently receive a refund? 3. While I feel that I have not received $60 worth of value since I joined almost a year ago, I think I need to wait until we see what the final package of "goodies" will be before I make a final decision on getting my money's worth. I didn't care for the ugly t-shirt we received upon joining. A nice "Wings Over America" and/or "Ram" t shirt would go along toward me feeling that I got my money's worth. 4. I didn't really care too much for the premium content while it existed. I did enjoy a few of the pictures and videos, but I rarely found myself coming back to look at things. I never used the Rude Studio. I used the juke box a few times at work, but it always got disconnected while playing, so I eventually gave up on it. 5. What would I like to see from the new, non-premium website: As others have mentioned, make the "news" component more useful. Most of the "news" is not actually news, and hardcore fans know about all of the real "news" before it gets posted by Paul's own site. Give us updates on the supposed new album in the works and any other projects Paul may be working on. Give us accurate discography and other historical details on tours, etc. Make this site THE place to come to get such info. Give us occasional treats, such as unreleased songs or concert videos. How about selling audio of past concerts? I would love to own audio of the two concerts I have seen in Boston and would pay to have them. The Who, Peter Gabriel, Allman Brothers and many others make this service available. Some of the old photos that were posted were great, and I'd love to see more of them on the new site. 6. What happened to HP. Are they no longer involved? 7. Not related to the website, but please give us an update on the remaster series. One to two albums a year is not going to get this project done in most of our lifetimes. When should we expect the other three we have been promised? How many will we get in the "super deluxe" format? 8. The redeem download page for the hi-res versions of files from the first 4 deluxe archive sets no longer exists. I have yet to download the last 2 I bought. When will this be coming back? Thanks for listening.

Nope, I really like those shirts too. Actually, I liked the whole membership package. I was so excited to open that package when it arrived! I also liked the area on the website where you could review all the concerts (cities and set lists) for each touring year and add yourself if you attended a particular date. I had hoped they would eventually add more details like photos (maybe some fan photos), clips, press clippings, fan memories, or memorabilia.

I really like the poster that is now, no longer being distributed. And those^^^^ were some of the best features of the site. No more FAVORITES or, I WAS THERE buttons.
