A Big Thank You From PaulMcCartney.com

I am in London to visit my daughter and I decide to check my email. Opened the message from Paul McCartney.com, and find out you just shut it right down, "This page does not exist", really, how could you care so little about all of the people that were members. I want my page back, all of my messages, and my blog posts. I lost my Mother this year, my husband had a heart attack in April and I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, so much sadness in my life. Paul's website was a positive place of calm in my life, and now it is gone, and my heart can't take any more!
If you read through this thread you'll see a lot of anger towards how this change was made, not a thought behind it at all. Welcome back to England, i'm sure visiting your beautiful daughter will pep you up.

I keep thinking about the fact that "value for money" was important to The Beatles - remember how their albums never included current singles because they felt that was cheating the fans? I know that the music business changed dramatically (a few times) since then, but the basic principle is the same. I feel like Paul has always been quite good at giving the fans plenty of value for money. Until now. That's why I think he will be upset if he takes the time to really understand how this Premium Membership cancellation has turned out and that many fans feel deceived.

Thanks to my friends for helping me get through the past year. It really upsets me that I can't get to the messages we exchanged. They deleted our fan pages just like they deleted us, without a second thought.
Sorry to hear of all your hardships this year. But maybe you can connect with some of the friends here. I said the same thing...there are people over there that I do not know how to contact anymore. : Stick around here either way & see how you like it. We can be a surly bunch at times but it's all mostly good.

You are so right BOYCIE, spending time with my daughter has been a blessing. The only problem is that my eyes are filled with tears and she is wondering what has gotten me so upset. Such is life!

Just a further thought... Upon perusing the pages of this thread and the reaction it has generated, and as a charter member of the National Sarcasm Society, I just wanted to salute the originator of this thread on the thread title. Primarily, the use of the word "Thank" Podgie (Very well done!) Monkey

would they even to revert the changes? to our profiles I mean. It's not like they have an master undo button.

Paul McCartney would never treat his fans poorly. I don't think he ever had anything to do with the Premium Membership website. I never saw anything on the website that would indicate that he was an active participant. He won't get upset with how bad we have been treated because he will never know.

Hi everyone, Should I need to state I'm a huge Paul McCartney's fan ? I've seen him about 10 times and sometimes travelled a great deal of miles to be able to catch him in concert. That said, the premium membership access to the PM website was a joke and really does appear as the biggest rip-off to date. I ask to be refunded. I don't feel premium members (pioneer as it looks I am) have been offered much. Is there anything that will be done to correct this lousy marketing move ? Thanks in advance.

In the few days since the "Big F*** You From Paul McCartney.Com" email went out, 26 pages (to date) of comments have been generated, the majority of which are overwhelmingly negative. I'd like to see, rather than the bland "We're listening, and value your (overwhelmingly negative) input so, so much" corporate sh*t-speak response we've had so far, a detailed answer from someone genuinely responsible for this debacle to the many valid points which have been raised. It's a basic, proven rule of business that when the corporate sh*t-speak hits the fan(s), the best way to draw the sting is by being as open as possible about why it happened, and what you intend to do to rectify the situation. If HP are really no longer involved, that probably explains a lot, as they would have had some ownership over the source-code of all the features that got pulled: no HP, no features. That's speculation, of course, and quite possibly wrong, but it's a good example nevertheless. How much less of a sh*t-storm would have been generated by a proper explanation of what is going on, and an assurance that the original aims of the website (the most interesting of which was the digitisation and at least partial distribution of Paul's archive) are going to be honoured. Maybe they are going to be honoured. This remains to be seen. In the meantime, there are a lot of people who have been treated very shabbily (namely those who paid for a year's Premium membership in the last few months), and I hope an explanation and decent recompense will be forthcoming very soon.

It would be very easy for me to forgive the mishandling of our memberships if it came out that Paul's people discovered a major security breach (identity protection, etc.) and made the decision to suspend everything immediately.
There has been a security breach on Paul's site in the past, though (remember the hackers?), and the site wasn't redone. It was probably made more secure ( Hopefully! :lol, but the content of the site didn't change.
Hackers? Missed that one!
Couple of years ago...

Here is the original video that got us all so excited about what the new site, powered by HP, could offer...it seems like a far cry from what we actually got as premium members, but the new site is an even farther cry:
Ahh...this brings me back to the days when I had hope that the premium membership would offer such wonderful access to amazing Paul archives...back when I was young and foolish. -
That's what could have been. Be sure to check out Paul videos along the side there too. shame this all happened
-
Yep, it all looked great, didn't it? That's exactly why I signed up for Premium - to support what seemed like a very interesting project. It was all jibber-jabber.
-
The potential was there that was for sure but quite how it turned so sour so quickly i guess we'll never know, such a shame. As for the new site i visited it today i was quite shocked at how shabby it become.

Walliebaby, that was a great post. It should remind everyone what the new site was supposed to be about. Interesting to put a face to one of the names on this thread, too. I'm sure that person could provide an explanation for all this. It's really not good to see so much bile directed at the man's own website...on the man's own website... but a lot of people have now been ripped off by the man's own, perhaps tediously aforementioned, website. There must be a reason for having ripped people off. There may even be a good reason, with a promise of adequate compensation to come. The above individual, or someone else, should tell us what it is if so. (Hint: a free download of something everyone either already has or doesn't want won't cut it as compensation.)

Well, further to the YouTube link that someone posted about the HP link up with Paul I found the link for the one that specifically talks about the website - and it makes very very interesting viewing - the highlights being when they describe what the website will be like - see if some of these descriptions match what we had/have * "Make it totally unique" * "Unprecedented breadth and depth of content for Paul's fans" * "What's going to distinguish this from other major artists websites is that it's going to be very content rich" * "The idea is to intrigue people and bring them into our World...all the stuff we can give that no-one else can give" * "We're trying to push the boundaries in terms of the experience for the fans" *"Fan interaction, they tell you exactly what they need...you create projects to suit their needs" * "The new website is really going to be fascinating, a lot of ideas that won't have been done before" * "The best piece is being innovative" I personally watched all the HP videos and, trusting Paul, spent my money on membership as I was genuinely excited about the website, so I do feel I have been cheated - I do not think it is unique, it does not have unprecedented breadth and depth of content, isn't content rich, isn't intriguing, hasn't pushed the boundaries, hasn't suited my needs, isn't fascinating or innovative and the whole social interaction which they make a big thing of in the video has now gone along with my money, my trust and my faith. And a huge amount of respect..which can't be compensated with a download. Here's the link: http://h10124.www1.hp.com/campaigns/enterprise/mccartney/us/en/paul-mccartney-digital-library-experience.html#nid=powered_by_hp

I really miss Premium Member Contents and my page... Where are they...?? Please, put it back on site...

I think the real question is. Who is going to start the petition? Everyone should be up in arms, if anyone is not upset by the changes made, then they never appreciated the site before it changed. There were little additions to the site in comparison to what features were removed. As for the petition, it shouldn't be limited to forum members. We need to have a posting and a link to to the site where it would get more exposure. I know there's a website where you could start a petition and have people sign on without providing personal information. Don't remember what it's called though. I might do some looking around.

I mentioned starting one in the "membership number" thread in Not Such A Bad Boy, but I'm happy to pass the buck on to whomever wants to tackle this.

What I'm confused about is getting two e-mails. One describing the new website with mention of the memberships being done away with and us getting some form of compensation such as a download of Live Kisses (where we've already had issues with before. Four audio songs?) and then I get a second e-mail later the same day that does not mention the gone memberships and compensation. So, are we getting our stuff or not? Which one do I pay attention to?
