... also, I didnt remember seeing it mentioned in reviews for any other cities, but John Hammel does not seem to be on this tour, so perhaps he did retire. I know someone asked him at the PETA show last year, and he seemed surprised and asked where we had heard that, and inferred that it wasnt true.
So then...who got the guitars for Paul? Was someone in training? haha
dont know who he was. He even repeated John's shtick after Yesterday about telling Paul the crowd wanted one more song.
Yes, this, kinda strange to see. John Hammel was so familiar. McCartney mixed up a few lyrics in the beginning btw, and didn't start as sharp, even forgot to do his "wardrobe change"-story. Plus the start to 'Temporary Secretary' was butchered, but they shrugged it off nicely. The band really seemed to be having a blast during the new(er) songs, and I can't blame them. Also, like mentioned in another topic, they completely overhauled the pre-show including the moments before McCartney hits the stage. No more Booker T. New roadie, new pre-show, new entrance, new opener, new lights, new stage design, a little acoustic set in the middle with the whole band like he has never done before. The first half of the show really felt so fresh.

That was the "On The Run" launch. I was there the second night and was ecstatic when he played "Magical Mystery Tour" as I had never heard that one...plus, I hadn't looked at the previous night's setlist...so many surprises awaited me! I've only had that sort of seating problem once for Paul, and that was Philly '10. I stood up when he came out for "Venus and Mars/Rock Show/Jet" there were quite a lot of people yelling after he got through all that, but quite a lot of us standing, we made it through "All My Loving" but a lot of people sat for "Letting Go" and the numbers were against me by then so I caved and sat.
Yeah... that's irritating! But seriously... the first song??? And that's exactly what I said to her... "Lady, it's the first number!!!!" Then she gave me this snippy response, "Well I asked you nicely!" And believe me... she really didn't!! Ugh... whatever. I'm over it now... really, I am!!! BTW, the Venus & Mars/Rock Show was my favorite opener of any of the shows I've seen, with "Hello Goodbye" coming in at #2, but I just loved that he opened with a Wings song during '10 tour!
I feel like he's always picked great openers, he just doesn't change them enough, with V&M being the exception...but I remember him saying later that he wasn't happy with it. I still think he should have sang V&M off stage, then ran on for Rockshow...the WHOLE piece- not just a snippet!
The entire place should have been dark for V&M beginning!
I agree. I want to see him perform the song but the lights should have been dark... maybe one spotlight on Paul... that's it. I agree the lights were too bright, though I'm still delighted to have seen him play it... abbreviated or not!

New entrance? I know it's the One On One tour but...

I miss the Booker T "The End" opening; lended a gravitas the new opening somehow lacks. But that"s a minor quibble. The cylinder screens look sensational. The front porch backdrop for the acoustic stuff looks great too. Now...if Paul coukd just get that voice back to 2013/14 nick...

Yesterday's soundcheck setlist.. Matchbox, Honey Don't, Only Mama Knows, All My Loving, The Long and Winding Road, C Moon, I've Just Seen a Face, Every night, San Francisco Bay Blues, Ram On, Midnight Special, Bluebird & Lady Madonna. After the crowd left Mull was run through a few times.

Hey, I loved my view, but it got kinda funny during 'Mull Of Kintyre' .That was the first video I watched of this tour and while his voice gets weaker after the key change and on the higher parts...I still think the negative comments on this board are greatly exaggerated, as usual. :

Paul himself set the bar pretty high. Fans have expectations because of that. And that was a compliment!

He's on and has opened with "A Hard Days Night" again...I now have very little faith in any change for the remainder of this leg. BUT, if we're going to see any swaps I suspect that "And I Love Her" and "We Can Work it Out" would be potential swappers from the acoustic set...and that "Birthday" could be rotated with another familiar encore song like "Get Back" or "I Saw Her Standing There". I'll check it out in the morning!

I agree. He has his regulars that he switches out. For the life of me, why he doesn't throw some of those sound check songs into the rotation to spice things up, I will never understand.

Hey, I loved my view, but it got kinda funny during 'Mull Of Kintyre' .That is one of the coolest things he does in a concert, bringing those bagpipes on stage. And he does it so rarely. Go figure.

Just curious if any more guests joined for night #2.

Jimmy Fallon (for some reason?) apparently joined Paul onstage tonight for "I Saw Her Standing There."

Yawn.

So what was the setlist? Any changes?

So what was the setlist? Any changes?
I think it was the same as night 1, except "I Saw Her Standing There" was swapped in place of "Birthday".
-
Ya, same setlist except for 'I Saw Her Standing There' with Jimmy Fallon - which was highly unexpected since he's based in LA. Paul sounded good as well tonight, but on different songs. Maybe I'm Amazed really soared. He acknowledged 4/20 before 'Hi Hi Hi' and Jimmy also said something about it before he sang with Paul. Different experience tonight since I was in the balcony instead of very-close-floors. Not much dancing up there until Hey Jude, then folks got a little more into it. Sound seemed a little crisper tonight since they had time to tweak it a bit. Can't wait for the epic Coachella in October!
