Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors
-
A number of cities have made public announcements the same day as it is reported by Paul McCartney.com, usually letting the press know when the public announcement will be (but not the artist) the business day before (Lubbock did this). So this wouldn't surprise me. Doesn't mean it will be McCartney, but nothing in the above posts run contrary to how local announcements have been handled on this tour. The public announcements seem to come at the same time it is released on the Paul McCartney.com website. RamblinRed

Yes, this was the common practice last year (Tulsa, Indy and Brooklyn come to mind). The press conference is timed to coincide with the web site announcement.

Milwaukee is a perennial McCartney stop, just like Chicago. Plus they are going to be in different months so you will get a lot of people going to both cities
I don't think he'd do them in the same year...but who knows?
He did both cities in 2002 and 2005, and the shows were on the same leg of those tours. But since he played a a stadium show in Milwaukee last year and there are 2 shows supposedly scheduled for Chicago, I doubt he will play Milwaukee this year.
Yeah & those were before he started what some call these "mini" tours. He seems to bounce around a lot more now.

Posted by local station KLKN: A historic concert is coming to Lincoln, but officials are keeping it a secret until Monday. The suspense is making some people in Lincoln wonder, who will it be? "They need something once and awhile for that age of people and the younger groups still know the Stones and Aerosmith," Jody Martin said. Will it be one of the classics, or will it be someone from the younger generation? "Justin Bieber! That would be historic," Doug Martin said. Several people are predicting Aerosmith. "I'm going to go with Aerosmith, that's a really good guess," Josh Hielkemann said. While others are looking back to the '90s. "Maybe Pearl Jam? I wish, I hope," Jordan Howard said. We asked viewers on Facebook their predictions, rock artists like Wham and Paul McCartney, to country singers like Garth Brooks made the list. One band stands out above the rest so far. "I really think it might be the Rolling Stones," Rachel Anderson said. "They're historically an icon," Jenny Bast said. Mayor Beutler will make the announcement Monday at 10 a.m. at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Mayors only show up for Paul.

Yes. I think they let the cities have these press conferences to make the announcements first because it creates a big buzz about Paul coming to town, especially if it is his first time in a city or if he is the first person to play a new arena. And yes, if the mayor is there, it will be Paul. besides, the Stones are not touring the US this year.

It does seem that this whole town is buzzing with the story that it will be Paul that is announced in about 18 hours. Pinnacle Bank Arena is not even a year old and has hosted The Eagles amongst other big acts. Yeah, it might not look like much on a map, but Lincoln and Pinnacle Bank Arena itself has drawn great praise among promoters and would be attractive even for a megastar like Paul. As to it being a college town asleep in the summer, well, it is also the capitol city and Omaha's only 50 miles down the road. It can draw from Des Moines and Kansas City. We built it. They will come. Let's rock, Paul!

Let's not get too excited yet, since it's still just a rumor. But wooo-hoooo!!! Also have fond memories of last concert at jobing.com arena. First live performance of 1985 in US. Would love to get back out there too.
