Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors

RamblinRed:
I actually disagree with some of the posters. I think Paul's PR team did a pretty good job given the circumstances and most of the sour grapes sounds like fans who think they deserve to know more than they do. We have zero right to any health information unless Paul feels like disseminating it. Medical information is 100% privacy protected and no details can be released by medical professionals or anyone else without the consent of the patient (or the patients family if the patient is incapacitated). The first statement clearly said he had something and had a cancel a show. It was clear at that time he was not planning on cancelling the tour as he probably expected to be just fine. Over the next couple of days it obviously got worse, but they still were releasing little medical information other than he had a viral infection (that would have had to been cleared by Paul to release). The bigger issue is we now live in a world where people are in my opinion way to quick to give up thier privacy and assume everyone should give up there privacy. I know fans feel attached to their subjects, but at the end of the day fans are not family or friends, they are just fans and tend to be overly and sometimes obsessively protective with the person of their interest even though there is no relationship there. RamblinRed
So true. I'm surprised in fact that the mods have allowed all this discussion anyway considering we're not supposed to discuss Paul's private life, and this is very definitely a private matter. Even though it has been on the news. Other than the facts that he had to cancel some concerts because of an illness, it continues to be a private matter and should be treated as such. That's all we need to know until Paul himself wants us to know more.

Since this is the rumors thread, when do you think the postponed Asian shows will happen now?
I thought they were cancelled, not postponed.

Might want to ask the Aussies about that...

In the media the verb "cancelled" was used, but on Paul's site next to the Asian tourdates "postponed" is written. I just hope that Europe won't be totally ignored this year, but most of all I wish Paul a quick full recovery.

I have to agree completely with RamblinRed, beatlesfanrandy, and femaleanimal. The points about preventing discussion of health related matters are spot on. Though I agree fans get concerned about hearing celebrities are unwell, it can get way too tabloid for it to be discussed here on his official message board. Nothing wrong with wishing Paul to get better soon in general. If people want to dive deep into those personal medical topics I'm sure loads of other social media can be accommodating. Now back to rumours about the tour, 'cause honestly I just wanna know the difference between "postponed" and "cancelled"... (postponed makes more sense!)

I get the impression that he intends to reschedule, but they probably haven't worked out when or if the dates can be rescheduled. I also wonder if the robot will be making an appearance in Lubbock, Texas!

I feel bad for the robot.

Kind of seems like it was mainly aimed at Japan, but now the video is "out there" and there's no place to show off the robot. Will they stick a cowboy hat on it and bring it along to Texas,or wait to see if/when the Japan dates are rescheduled??

How popular will Newman be in 2 1/2 weeks time to be seen in during the start of the USA shows? Is it best to include him in the live shows coming up or just save us until Japan again... I'm really tired today, forgive me. I'm just thinking that the PR for Newman will have to be relaunched(or rebooted) but how quickly?
-
I'm not sure that Newman was to be used exclusively in Japan. I was thinking that it was to make its debut in Japan and also be used during the U.S. leg as well.

And what about the other videos that we have heard are also done? We may just get really lucky & see them all.

I still kind of wonder if the "Early Days" footage will just show up on the big screen during the American leg and not be a real video. Or perhaps the complete video for that is being timed to be released during the American leg. I don't know, it's all kind of strange.

You'd think the next thing we get would be the "Save Us" video, since that's the track they recently started promoting to radio (with very modest success so far). If things made sense marketing-wise, they'd release the video right before the U.S. tour leg kicks off. But of course, things haven't always made sense.

Or perhaps the plan is to keep promoting this album for a long, long time, with many videos and tour legs!

The original announcement made it sound like Newman was exclusively for Japan however, I have a feeling that has changed. He couldn't have been cheap to make, plus there is a whole new video...he'll probably be added onto the US tour now with "Appreciate", hopefully it doesn't ruin any chances of hearing "Early Days".

I know I thought about this too! I really really hope Early Days isn't effected by this..

But we don't even know if Early Days was going to be in the setlist, do we? I hope we get both!

We don't know, but I think both would go over well here. He doesn't usually go above four new songs in the set, though, so I don't know if he'd be willing to cut two others out to make room.
