Only time will tell.

Wisely said.

He often has something in May so I would not be surprised if that was the case again.
I see two possibilities for May: 1) South America and/or Mexico 2) UK & Europe My gut tells me he will focus on the UK and Europe this time, but of course he can also do both: first a few shows in Latin America in late April / early May to warm up, and then a proper tour of UK/Europe from late May to late June.
RMartinez:
Paul did a bunch of USA dates in 2013. My prediction is he will take a break from the USA in 2014, and tour Europe.
I have a feeling he will tour the US and Canada in July/August, but not the same cities as last year. More shows on the West Coast this time, perhaps?

Yeah, he totally ignored the Southwest and Southern California in 2013. He will probably play the area later in the year. He always plays LA, Vegas, Phoenix, and Denver.

"Paul in New Mexico" sounds quite nice

No argument here!

I think we will see many of the US cities played in 2010 re-surfacing as he revisited many 2009 cities last year plus, some others he has been ignoring in 10+ years or never at all!

That would be cool!

He's done shows in the U.S. since 2009. I'd be VERY surprised if he didn't do shows in the U.S. at all this year. I think it would be too lucrative of a market for him to skip over.
Im of the view that the US dates allow Paul to tour the way he does bits and bobs here and there so to speak as i can think of no other major arena artist that tours the way Paul does at the moment on a regular basis at least and make money doing so.

I would love to see him do a tour of small clubs around Europe, just like the one he did in 1991. That was quite an interesting setlist!

That's right, I was about to post that! According to that article, negotiations will begin tomorrow. The first intended date is April 18, at the same stadium he performed in 2012. Chile, Peru, Ecuador and "other countries" are also mentioned as candidates. It also mentions that a new law in Uruguay exempts foreign artists from paying taxes if their performances are considered to be of national interest. That would certainly help negotiations, as last time McCartney had to pay those taxes.

It's just great hearing some sort of date. In the next few weeks I am sure we will be hearing something more concrete. He didn't really do the Southwest of the US last year which I found really odd, so I am hoping that he will be able to fit in LA or Phoenix or Vegas or New Mexico....and my dream would be San Diego since he hasn't played here since Wings in 1976 and we are the 8th largest city in America! Fingers crossed he does his magic in every corner of the world in the coming year. And makes a lot of people happy.

Agreed! In fact, people have been going nuts on social networks in the past 3 hours, since these rumors began.

I am shocked Paul has not played San Diego since 1976. It is a MAJOR US city, regardless it being due south of LA. McCartney plays Nassau County in NYC, why not San Diego?

Paul only played Nassau County (Long Island) twice...with Wings in '76 and in 2002 ..almost 12 years ago. With all the other venues in the New York metropolitan area, it's no surprise.

It's amazing how much Southern Calif has been ignored in the past decade, especially compared to New York/Philadelphia/DC.

Yes. But that's one more concert than San Diego. My point is, San Diego should get at least ONE McCartney concert, since Nassau got one in 2002.

Also, San Diego isn't even in the LA metro area. But yeah, NYC is huge, and the Barkley Center adds another twist!
