Trust arrived in the mail today! It doesn't grab you right away like his first few records. I think this one is going to have to grow on me.

Got tickets to see him in Manchester the last time I saw him live in concert was 1984

Girls Girls Girls is another great collection with songs picked by Elvis as some of is best...just FYI....MY 1ST Elvis ' album was This Year's Model and I was hooked after that ...every single , all with awesome B Sides...even shook his hand in Seattle and sat at his feet while he sang Moondance....

Thats cool wingsdgm. Thats kinda what happened with my dad. I've bought 2 of Elvis' records on vinyl. The only single I've found is Watching the Detectives. Whats your favorite album by Costello. I think my favorite is Trust. Did a good job with the piano there.

I have a question about All This Useless Beauty. First of all, is it any good? And is it worth it to pick up the Rhino 2 disc edition. I have 4 of the Rhino bonus discs and I have to admit that I don't listen to them that much, so with a substantial price difference I'm leaning toward just getting the regular album.

it had to grow on me a little..it's alot of slow stuff and Elvis is in fine form..It's worth for the Costello/McCartney song Shallow Grave...I havent heard much of the extras....but hey it's Elvis and he's great..I saw him live on that tour and liked the songs a bit more(like you do after live)

I went ahead and just bought the single album, I don't have a great judgement on it after 3 listens, but I like it very much. The slow songs are absolutly beautiful, but the faster songs bring it down a little. The rocking numbers, save Shallow Grave and Complicated Shadows, seem to forced and not going anywhere at all. But "The Other End of The Telescope", "Little Atoms", "All This Useless Beauty", "Shallow Grave", and "I Want to Vanish" are all wonderful and more than make up for the rest of the album. All in all, a step up from Brutal Youth which I didn't seem to get at all. 8.5/10

The Juliet Letters made me a Costello fan; everything from about Trust on is gravy.

Check out Clowntime is over. I just tried to Search for the Dec 26th 1983 performance from the Tube on line but can not find it. It is definitely in the video collection however. Well worth tracking down.

Is it the slower version of it? I have the faster version on Get Happy!! But haven't heard the slower version. I think it's on Taking Liberties. Will have track down that video collection though. I've only been able to see a select few videos from Elvis and they've all been entertaining. Would love to see them all.

It is much slower than on the lp (sorry, cd or should I be saying mp3 by now????????). Really soulful and possibly one of the best live performances I have ever seen by anyone. I also prefer Costello's version of That Day Is Done over Paul's.
