Age Minimums?
-
Hi! My wife and I plan on attending the show in New Orleans, and our 4 year-old daughter is a HUGE Beatles fan (especially Paul)! I was wondering if anyone knows if there are age minimums for Paul's shows. The venue's website says to check the performer's page, but there is nothing listed about ages allowed. Any insight would be greatly appreciated - Thanks! Andre

There probably is no age minimum but be sure to provide some hearing protection because the show is quite loud, especially for a child.

There is no age minimum, but in my opinion, taking a 4 year old to a 3 hour long nighttime concert really would not be in their best interest (or yours, if you want to enjoy yourself). At the Paul concerts I have attended, I have seen weary, frazzled parents, crying children, children sleeping through the concert, etc. I feel sorry for the parents who have to put up with frequent trips to the potty, whining, tantrums, listening to "I'm hungry/bored, etc." all night long. JMHO

I've seen the same things, as well as sleeping kids who mom and dad ended up taking home. I sat in front of a child about that age who didn't stay awake long enough for Paul to come on stage. There is a pre-show and between that and the fact that Paul does not take the stage at the time stated on the ticket, the kid was sound asleep in her seat. Dad took her away shortly afterwards and they never returned.

Hello Andre and welcome to the message board You might want to take a look at this thread to find out about other parents experiences with children at a show: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=86982

Thanks for the input. She's a night owl as it is and knows ALL the songs by heart, watches Beatles movies over and over again (kill me! Lol), can identify who sings what, loves fireworks, and cried when she learned my 15 year-old and I saw Paul last year in Memphis without her. I think we're gonna get ear protection and go for it. . .

If your daughter knows all the Beatles songs and loves Paul I see no objection to take her along. She's so young and already a Beatles fan....that's awesome. Train them while they are young on Beatles stuff! Keep Beatlemania alive!

Hi Andre...welcome to the message forum! My two sons began seeing Paul back in 1989...age 5 and 3. While my older sons musical tastes changed a bit, my younger son to this day has attended every McCartney U.S. tour with Dad. (Yes, I'm Very Lucky) Bring ear protection and have a great time with your daughter!! Tom

The little girl I was referring to could pick the songs out of the dj mix. Do enjoy.

Well, maybe THAT little girl preferred the Stones.

Hi, I took my 3 year old daughter to two shows at Yankee Stadium back in 2011. She enjoyed the shows, but I made sure to bring sound protecting earphones for her. It was quite easy with her during the show - only took her to the bathroom once each show and then after. She fell asleep about half way for each show but was fine. The difficulty for me was getting thru the subway crowds after the shows. Luckily, I had very good friends with me to surround me so she wouldn't get crushed as I carried her in a baby carrier on my back. The Ergo was my best friend those days when she was little - I could take her anywhere very easily. Feel free to message me if you want any further tips or if you have questions. Each child is different though so you have to know whether or not your child can handle a 3 hour show. My daughter has traveled quite a bit with me alone so I knew she'd be fine to take. I haven't taken her to more shows only because of the cost and because I would like to get the best possible seats. Best of luck to you!

I would not take a child younger than 6 or 7, for their sake as well as yours. I only picked that age because that is the age I became aware of The Beatles, and I wanted to know everything about them from then on. If they like the music, you have to make the call as the parent.

Not worried about how she'll handle it. She makes it through 3-hour NFL games in the Superdome, with the soumd hittimg 130 decibels, and doesn't care about football nearly as much as she digs the Beatles. I just wanted to know if kids that young were allowed.

Don't get floor seats. You will both be miserable.

Yes, beatlesfanrandy is absolutely correct in that statement. Last year I got sound check tickets for Austin. We met a mom and her 7 year old son while waiting in line. They were so precious they were wearing matching Beatles at Shea stadium beige Nehru jackets with the little badges and everything. The little boy was beside himself with excitement about seeing his idol Paul. The only problem was that from the first note of "Eight Days a Week" until the last note of the "Abbey Road" medley NOBODY in the first 6 or 7 rows sat in their seats. We all stood for the entire concert and poor little peewee had his view blocked by giant adults. So, Mom paid $3000 for tickets and I don't think the poor kid saw anything all night!! :

I think you'll be just fine taking your daughter. I don't believe Paul has ever played a show that wasn't all ages (well, not counting the strip clubs in Hamburg!) I also would strongly urge against floor seats simply because of the height factor. Anything but the floor would be just fine, the closer to the stage, the better really! I'm sure she'll be ecstatic the second he hits the stage!

I've taken all three of my kids to his concerts, my daughter was 7 at the time. She had a blast, but fell asleep about 2/3 through. Fortunately it's mostly an older, mature crowd, content to mostly sit.

I don't know what concert you were at, but I have NEVER seen an audience sit at a McCartney concert! (Unless you were in the nosebleeds where you have to stay seated. Definitely not on the floor.) Even the older folks were on their feet for most of the show!
-
5 shows, most were the nosebleeds, yep, mostly sitting. I had floor seats in Detroit once, and yes, everyone standing down there!
-
Yes, the front floor section tends to stand most of the time. I was in the middle section last year and it was up and down. I tried to be sensitive to not block people's views, so I sat some. A foot injury forced me to sit at Wrigley Field in 2011. But when I had been lucky enough to get front floor section tickets in the past and was healthy, I never sat!
