that pic was bigger than I had anticipated! I am going to say this; Mick Jagger at 70 yrs old or whatever age he is, gave the best concert performance as a front man that I personally have ever seen. and I've seen some awesome shows. but Mick's style and class, and his air of recklessness and almost challenging the crowd to party.. he's the energy, it was an amazing show and I give him so much of the credit. I've always been a bit more of a Keith fan, but I had never seen the Stones live. after the show Friday night, Mick is the man in that band. They may be 70, but they didn't look a day over... about 62 nah the show was absolutely killer. their great songs are really amazing seen live. those guys rock.

Kapoo - I was up in Toronto Memorial Day weekend to see the Stones: it was a complete mindblower. I was ridiculously fortunate enough to end up in the GA "Tongue Pit" and the whole experience was just WOW. Was never more than 30-40 ft away from Mick or Keith and I honestly think it was too much for my brain to process because while I certainly remember the music being great, what I felt most was just the sheer raw energy coming off the band, Jagger most certainly above all. Like you, I am more of a "Keef" person (as I'm a guitar player) but Mick simply blew me away and I 500% agree with every single word you wrote about him. Couldn't half take decent pics of him because as soon as the shutter went off, he was gone! I've gained such a *huge* appreciation of him as a frontman and really have to take my hat off to him. Heck I even got to exchange smiles with Keith's wife Patti during Street Fighting Man! It's honestly a close push between this or Macca in 1989 as my top show ever (with Paul edging because I'd waited my whole life to see Paul at that point so it'll always be #1). By no means am disrespecting our man but in terms of sheer adrenaline rush, the Stones just killed it. Am going to see them again in Philly on the 21st and can-not wait. Hope it's ok for me to throw this in here

You're a very lucky man, that must have been a real thrill! I've heard some backlash and cynicism about the price of tickets, and the age of the band, and is it worth it etc.. but man was it worth it. It was one of the best shows I've been too! a lot like a McCartney show, there is that air of just being in the presence of rock history. I loved the attitude of that band, and Mick. I said it before but he was so engaging of the crowd and pretty much was inciting a party, it was tremendous! Paul doesn't do that as much. but I don't fault him for that, Paul's got a different style of music. Mick and the gang just get after rocking like no other. I attended a McCartney show in Chicago in '89 also, but I was only 12 at the time.. it totally blew me away though. That show seemed BIGGER than this Stones show felt. again perhaps just because of my age at the time, but I think also because the songs and band and sound was just honed to such anthemic perfection. This Stones show just was a huge rockfest party. I can't believe those guys can still do that!!! and I loved the set list, every song was like HELL YES! Great pic you took there

Make that very lucky lass! And yes, what a thrill indeed. Phoarr!!! As you say, it's just a very different show from Macca's but I absolutely love 'em both (though don't let the "Beatles vs. Stones" crowd hear that!).

Hilarious I have made that mistake so many times online, for some reason I assume everyone's a guy! yep you are indeed a lucky lass. I love them both too, just like the great John - Paul debate, I love them both. I'm totally a fence rider I guess

Does Elvis have something new out - think I read he's doing (has done?) an album with The Roots? Enjoy! It's been a while since I've seen him but he puts on a great show.
-
I wonder if Holly Wood was there too?
-
Elvis was great!
-
Indeed Elvis was great, good fun and boundless energy cut from the same cloth as Paul energy wise that's for sure, the spinning songbook show is something everyone should see once its something thatll live long in the memory that's for sure,at one point Elvis came out into the crowd and headed upstairs to the balcony all good fun even the lad on the soundboard didn't know where he'd gone hehe. Got asked if we fancied going up to the stage but wimped out ops: but next time for sure
-
Yeah I was in the balcony too This whole spinning songbook concept works really nicely. Nice that he stuck around after the show too.
-
We were in the stalls and i have to say did wonder where he was going lol but a great night, more of a show than a gig i suppose but no bad thing.
-
An exhausting few weeks coming up (unlike the one just passed with two McCartney shows! 6/17: La hija de Rappaccini - Gotham Chamber Opera company 6/19: The B-52s and The Go-Gos 6/21: The Rolling Stones 6/25: Steve Martin and Edie Brickell 7/2: Lynne Jordan - Tribute to Nina Simone 7/11: Furthur 7/27: Robert Plant 8/4: Beck 8/21: fDeluxe (funk magic from the group formerly known as The Family)
-
Went to see Bruce Springsteen for the 1st time last night at Wembley Stadium, amazing show, he played for just over 3 hours and did the whole of Darkness on the Edge of Town album. Fortunately the power wasn't pulled when he did Twist and Shout ! The 'Boss' sure can put on a show
-
Going to see The Zombies at Montgomery College tonight, I'll let everyone know how they are! I've heard VERY good things about them lately...seem to be a very overlooked live band!
