3 mins before curtains? Plenty of time! Before I got to my seat I could see the band on stage ready, literally as soon as I sat down, 'Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage, Van Morrison!'. I enjoyed his singing, and he's a good little saxophone player too. It was cool seeing something more 'jazzy' you know with horn, double bass, percussion etc instead of guitar driven. Highlight for me was 'Moon Dance', I would have loved more from that album, like 'And It Stoned Me', 'Into the Mystic' etc. Played for an hour and a half right through, hardly stopping between songs. Was out at 9:30

Yeah, it felt weird leaving the theatre at 4pm. Matinees! Didn't he do that whole album live a few years ago?

Well, I'm out of my Les Miserables tickets...and Crossroads Festival is WAY too expensive! But Rod Stewart & Steve Winwood will be in Philly on Friday, April 12th...might drive up for that! We'll see how those prices are. Ive never seen Steve Winwood, and Rod Stewart was stellar this summer!

Been a good year gig wise for me,in the end 9 concerts,1 musical and a couple of great comedians helped the year flow to its end with Madness on friday night. Highlights quite a few Guns N Roses unexpectedly brilliant,Joan Armatrading being well superb but the highlight was Alanis Morissette the other night and seeing my husband being moved to tears by her (huge fan of hers he is),it reminded me how powerful music can be in the right setting. So gig wise thats it till Mark Knopfler next may a couple of musicals in-between but my god there's not much on at all other than x factor nonsense but got Bryan Ferry tickets next November so something to look forward to i just hope i end up going to more gigs than the 3 so far booked and it includes Paul somewhere in there.

Bryan, not Brian. Joking, I'm going to see him too and I can't wait, adore his work. Saw Mark Knopfler too opening for Bobby D. Wix~~~~ he did Astral Weeks in it's entirety, I wouldn't mind seeing that played full but Moondance is the one for me. Btw is it Rod Stewart and Steve Winwood in one show?

Quite correct,it is Bryan with a Y

And the tickets for Mr Ferry have just turned up,nice!!
-
Hoping to hear some classic Ferry/Roxy. The Jazz Orchestra will be there as will the regular band, not sure what he's gonna do during the Jazz bit 'cause he doesn't sing or play in it.

April 10th- United Center- Chicago, IL April 12th- Wells Fargo Arena- Philadelphia, PA April 13th- Garden- Boston, MA April 16th- Bell Centre- Montreal, Canada April 18th- Madison Square Garden- New York, NY April 21st- Prudential Center- Newark, NJ April 25th- The Palace of Auburn Hills- Detroit, MI April 28th- Phillips Arena- Atlanta, GA May 1st- Air Canada Centre- Toronto, Canada

Hello all - long time lurker! Nice reading all the concert talk and always interesting to see who others have seen. Had to post as this holiday period had/has me seeing: The Who (Nov. 14) Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler (Nov. 21) Neil Young and Patti Smith (last night) The Rolling Stones (this Saturday - I cannot wait!) Leonard Cohen (Dec. 20) A true smorgasboard of musical riches! (And a completely wallet-draining one too! ops: ) I honestly don't know how these guys (and gals) do it: Neil Young was a like a 20-year-old on stage last night - I'm completely wiped today and all I did was watch! The last artist that I've seen under the age of 60 was Jack White (back in September) and he left the stage after 1 hour...!! I'll stick with the grandads (and moms) - especially as they all still sound fantastic. Hey hey my my, indeed....rock on, everyone!
-
Damn, what a run of fantastic shows you have/had waiting for you.

I certainly can't complain but it does add up! For anyone thinking about it, definitely see Steve Winwood - he has still got his chops as both player and singer. Saw him with Clapton a couple of years ago as they performed the Blind Faith album along with their own solo work. Also saw him open for Tom Petty (which I thought an odd pairing but there you go) - he's really tremendous and what a catalog of material to choose from.

While I'd love to see both, I've decided Rod Stewart/Steve Winwood is too expensive for me right now...especially after seeing Sir Rod so recently (can't imagine the show will be THAT different...) Ending up selling off a lot of the shows I had...just couldn't pull it off right now. I've got... -Billy Elliot- Dec. 30th -Hairspray (feat. John Waters & Mickey Dolenz!)- Jan. 26th -Beauty and The Beast- Feb. 1st -Larry The Cable Guy- Feb. 16th (Taking my dad for Christmas present...)
-
SIR Rod?
-
in rod we trust?
-
JordanOnTheRun:
SIR Rod?
oh....does he not have enough to be Sir? I know he's got some royal stuff...I don't understand it to be honest.
-
Enough to be Sir? He's a CBE at the moment, "Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE)".

From Billy Elliot to Larry The Cable Guy... ..you are definitely covering the entire spectrum, my friend.

I specified I'm taking my father for a reason! There are certainly certain viewpoints that "The Cable Guy" and I don't share but, I do have respect for him as a performer. Most of what he does onstage, is in his "character" and I think it's pretty cool that he can jump in and out of that, without his life being a lie basically.

Lar' has his place. His humor is definitely not "dinner conversation," but he's a funny guy, for sure.
