another fantastic show in Philly last night??????..Can you come back Paul--one night is not enough!!

This was my first Paul show where I wasn't up in the nosebleeds; I "splurged" for the lower level, and was thrilled with the view when I first got to my seat. I even had an aisle seat! Well, the thrill didn't last...there was a constant stream of people going up and down the stairs next to me on beer runs, blocking my view of the stage, but giving me a close-up view of passing rear ends, while I had to keep ducking shaky cups of beer going by. It never stopped! I was amazed...these were people who had high-priced floor seats; they must have missed at least half the show, if not more. It was unbelievable to me...why do they bother going? Just to say they were there? Anyway, it was enough for me to seriously consider going back "upstairs" next time. Paul was late, as usual. We had gotten there later than we usually do, and figured we missed his arrival, so weren't even looking for him, when suddenly I saw a police escort coming, and we got to see him arrive after all, without even trying! The doors opened a bit late due to the late soundcheck, and the crowd was starting to get restless, starting a "Let us in" chant. Something that concerned me 5 years ago there, and again yesterday: no security checks! Nothing! Walked right in. You could have brought anything in there. I can't help but be concerned with Paul's safety. I had a long ride to the show, and after having thoughts that this might be my last Paul show unless he comes a lot nearer to me, due to having seen most of the show before, and thinking his voice is a bit "shot", he convinced me otherwise last night: he sounded darn good! He seems to have picked up some little vocal tricks or techniques, which cover for the shaky parts. Not just the growly thing he was doing for a while on the hard parts; this was different and worked better. I felt bad when the audience greeted songs like "My Valentine", "Temporary Secretary", "Hope for the Future" with relative silence and even more beer runs. I hope Paul can ignore that and not let it influence him into not trying different songs in the future. I hope he remembers there are a lot of us who appreciate it when he branches out. I tried to make up for those quiet and departing people, by yelling extra-loud after those songs. Something about the show seemed a little "off" in that there were several long pauses, or stalling for time, a few times. Maybe the teleprompter wasn't working properly or something? As for the arena: it was quite evident it wasn't cleaned after the previous event! Sticky floors, trash and deep dust under the seats. Maybe they figured "why bother?", knowing there would soon be the confetti storm to clean up anyway? Ventilation wasn't great: the smoke and smell of cordite, or whatever that is, hung in the air long after "Live and Let Die." I don't know how Paul could sing with all that. All in all, great show by Paul and the band. And he looked fantastic! Hair trimmed and a better color, face 20-some years younger. Has he had something done, or a great makeup artist? I don't know, but he made me feel all old, wrinkly, and saggy in comparison! Yes, Paul, you probably WILL see me next time after all! Sorry for going on so long...just some morning-after thoughts.

Spectacular show! Paul was very energetic, and Philly is always a great crowd, never had a bad time in Philly. Glad I made the trip; excellent seats, no bag check, nice opportunities for photos. There were a group of corporate types sitting to the left of me; their boss is some big shot bank CEO who is a huge Paul fan and has seen Paul 10 times or so; he bought them all tickets and sent them to the show. Kinda worked out nice for me as they were sitting down for some of the songs and I had no "tall people" blocks to my view. I thought the merch offerings were on the thin side, i.e. not alot on offer; the shirts listed Firefly as the first show, and Lollapalooza as the last show...hmmm. Simply awesome night!

Just got back from Paul's amazing show in Philly last night. My son and I had an unbelievable time!! Highlights were hearing Alligator and Miss Ann for the first time in soundcheck, as well as Another Girl, Hope For The Future and of course Temporary Secretary during the show (something about that song when it's live!!) Anita, REALLY great seeing you and your (not so small anymore) children again...it's been a while! Always nice to see youngsters so thrilled to see Paul!!! Hope to see you guys soon at another Paul show!! Rick, Phil. Derrick, Bob, and all the other Fans On The Run...what an AMAZING Father's Day catching up with all of you...safe travels the rest of the tour!! One final note...the Philly crowd was over the top...something Paul mentioned several times during the evening! Tom and James

Interesting since he was still doing the 2 encores of 3 songs ( one extra song in Paris) each in Europe. Wonder if this will be the new norm? I guess we'll find out this week.

WixRocks pretty much nailed the description of the show. I will add that the visuals were incredible, and I loved the pre-show collage that went scrolling down the side screens as remixes of some Beatles and Paul music played. We quickly realized as we heard each song play that these were all the songs we were NOT going to be hearing tonight. There was some "know-it-all' guy behind me who kept commenting that Paul was about to play "Yesterday" every time he pulled out an acoustic guitar. Also, in the opening collage, there was a photo of Ringo and Barbara, and this guy said to his friends, "That's his first wife. She was a Bond girl. She divorce him." Umm, NOT! Paul's voice did falter here and there, but his band really helps flesh everything out. "Save Us" was incredibly powerful, and I was also amazed at how much "bottom" "Temporary Secretary" had. Most of the people around us were bewildered at that number, for sure! Our friend who sat with us was ecstatic over "TS" and "Hi Hi Hi". I'm pretty sure I saw the one forum member a few rows ahead of me on the end of that row with her husband and little boy, but the crowd was just too thick, and I was right in the middle of the row where I couldn't really squeeze past everyone again and go roaming around. Our seats were great, basically 17th row center. Best I've ever had for Paul. Can't complain!!!
Yeah I noticed that about the Pre show song collage choices, so if we dont hear Silly Love Songs next time we may be pleasantly surprised!!

Yes, it also had: No More Lonely Nights With A Little Luck (even: Mrs Vandebilt, which is clearly now retired) I could swear they've been reading this forum! Did anyone else see the teenage girl in the flower-child outfit with the small guitar making her way through the crowd a few times? She nearly killed herself trying to step forward over the chairs at the end. I don't know if she ever played the guitar.

My pics (300+) from the show. Gives you a pretty good feel for things, at least a handful of nice images (if I do say so myself) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10205697969361468.1073741840.1622075227&type=1&l=2d92ef5099

Hi everyone. It was great to meet some of you in Philly. This was my first every Macca concert and Sound Check and I was over the top thrilled!! It'll be a life long memory. It was especially a pleasure to meet Linda, Lisa and Derrick. If Paul ever comes to Toronto, I hope to meet you all again. All the best to everyone! Gino Here the link to over 400 photos (too bad I was afraid of bringing my PRO gear, this is the best I could do with my little compact and iPhone... oh well, I'm sure I'll be at another concert soon and will shooting with some more serious gear) https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nps4f7dfq54pwd0/AAB2e2hm6tiNqo_SDknDlkKea?dl=0

Absolutely fabulous show! I was never a fan of Temporary secretary but it sounded great live. Paul and the band definitely brought their A game. The set list was great and in my opinion this was a better show then Yankee stadium mainly because of the sound. On a side note I took my 15 y/o son who loved the show. I don't think he grasps the significance of seeing a once in era person like Sir Paul but sure in time he will. I know Paul don't read these boards but if he did I would love to say thank you. Thank you for a lifetime of music and a soundtrack to my life. My only complaint is not buying better seats and getting stuck in the middle of the row with my thimble bladder.

I did something a little different at this show... I usually am dancing and screaming, waving like a maniac to get responses from Paul, with great results. Tonight, however, I decided to really just concentrate on watching Paul perform. Yes, I sang to every song, and did a few screams, but 90% of the time I was watching him, very closely..... Yes-he really is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! The way he interacts with the crowd-he had us wrapped in the palm of his hand from the time he stepped out of stage. I saw him respond to many of the fans, with a wink, a smile, a nod of his head, a thumbs up... I felt as if I was out of my body, watching him that quietly (for me) IF you can manage to do it-I highly recommend it. I will, however, be my old dancing screaming self at the next one...
