"APPRECIATE" NEEDS TO BE A SINGLE! IT WOULD GET

I couldn't care less if anything on NEW was played on pop radio stations alongside today's mostly shitty tunes. I prefer to listen to the album by itself. The songs belong there not amongst today's other pop dreck on the radio. Hehe...Just kidding! Maybe.

All I hear is a guitar chord.
Put your headphones on or earbuds in!
Nope. Before the drumming starts?

Whatever the next single is, if there is one, it probably won't come out till next year, after the holidays. Although one possibility is Record Store Day in the U.S. The official one is in April every year (a 12" of "Maybe I'm Amazed [live]" came out this year) but they also do special releases for Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving). I could see Paul putting some kind of limited edition vinyl single out for that: How about "Appreciate" backed with "Struggle" or "Secret Life of a Party Girl"? A CD of "Appreciate" remixes? Possibilities are endless!
I like how you think. parlance
Just saw a news item on this. They've released the official list of releases, and Paul's not on it. Not sure if it's subject to change. Here's the list; maybe there's something you like. http://www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleases

Back to the original topic of this thread... At most there will be one more single, and it should be one that grabs people instantly. That would NOT be "Appreciate," which takes some getting used to and has been pretty polarizing even for Paul's fans. I still vote for "Everybody Out There." But they'll need to let "New" and "Queenie Eye" run their course for a bit. "New" is still gaining spins on AC radio in the U.S., up to #19 on the Mediabase AC chart as of Tuesday. "Queenie Eye" looks dead in the water so far, but maybe the video release will give it a shot in the arm.

No. Listen for a minute or so.

I thought the original topic of this thread was "Appreciate." Still, I agree that "Everybody Out There" is probably the most rational choice for a follow-up.

Seems logical. Maybe we can thank "The Lumineers" for this "hey" in songs that people like to sing along to. Lady Antebellum were on Ellen yesterday with their new "hit" single, "Compass," that was in that same vein....put your fist up and say 'hey' or 'oh' or something that they kept repeating which made it rather catchy. Actually, I don't think Paul putting any single out is going to make any difference. It really doesn't get played. His singles now really can't make the tight playlists of the vast majority of stations, which play the same 20 songs over and over and over. Unless your Taylor Swift or Katy Perry or Maroon Five or a few other people/groups, they don't pay attention. The merit of the song has nothing to do with it. Stations are just not going to play Paul McCartney. He's in the wrong age 'category'. Radio, like TV, want hip, young audiences who listen to artists in that same age range.

I can't help but think that a single that shakes things up would serve Paul's profile better in the long run. parlance

But Paul invented "ho hey ho"! Who knows, maybe Paul's team thought there was too much of a glut of "hey" songs "out there" right now, but true, no matter what, he's just not going to break through at Top 40.

Oh yeah...in the middle of the song. : I thought you meant in the beginning. It just sounds like some sound effect...kinda under water-ish. Maybe something for Halloween? Maybe try it backwards for a hidden message???

P.S. It wasn't in the middle. It was less than 1/3 from the beginning. So I still wonder what is used to get that sound?

I really Appreciate this song so much! Was listening with a friend today and we were thinking how much we both like this one! (We like them all really with this one going up in our favorites order!)

hee hee, thank you. It's Susy and not Suzy 'cause my Christian name is Susan. Easy to get it mixed up, I know Y'all ought to play "Queenie Eye" in your gay bars, 'cause it keeps saying "Out"--also for the word Queenie I guess, LOL, and I hope you play other songs of his too during your revels. You might have noticed he's a bit of a dandy now & then. There'll be a special sparkly rock star touch to his wardrobe like long fancy capes, for example. He had his concert dressing room tent done up like Arabian Nights at one venue I read about--all those gorgeous colors, textures and designs....Love that he did that!
Yes, Paul is a bit dandy now and then. I think it's more of a British thing; mannerisms. Some of his body movements on stage and hand gestures and running them through his hair and shaking it, has always seemed a bit "stereotypical" of a gay man, but it's a British thing and stereotypes are just that and nothing more. I did see his concert when he sort of used the Arabian Night motive/stage design....big draperies. Forget what year that was. And yes, "Queenie" is part of the equation in singing "Out"...it should work quite well!
Now the video for "Queenie Eye" kicks it up a notch! Hello! Tom Ford? Chris Pine? Jude Law? Johnny Depp? This will be on the video screens for sure! By the way, I'll bet they could make a cool, moody video for "Appreciate," just to stay on topic.
