More importantly...... 'I've recorded some songs and see which ones can become the best.' How many are....'some'? It does sound like as if the new album is still a long way from being completed with perhaps only a handful of songs having been recorded so far.

Wish he would stop his never ending touring and finish the new album.

It can't really be about the $$. He has more money than he will ever need. or could use for the rest of his life.
That's a nice sentiment and I really wish it was true but I doubt it somehow. I would be more convinced if he would let his fans attend the soundchecks for free for example. After all, he has to undertake the soundchecks anyway. But no, he tries and eek out every last bit of cash from his fans, even though,as you rightly say, he doesn't really need to. I think he just likes being stinking rich.
Even if that were true, which it isn't, he wouldn't be making a new album for money. Nowadays, musicians make money on the road playing live. That's why his concerts are two-thirds Beatles' songs. Because he knows what the public wants to hear. He's not making a new album for money. He's still a vital artist, creating some of his best work in his 60's and 70's.
I agree. I'm extremely cynical about a lot of things (religion, politicians, business), but one thing I'm sure of is that Paul loves making music, and he just wants other people to hear it.

Exactly. It's not all about the money, for him, not just that. Also he has to pay a lot to put on his massive concerts, has loads on his payroll. He appears to have an absolute ball performing live, and why wouldn't he. He's enjoyed being a big star for decades and there's nothing wrong with that. But I'm sure the act of creating new music, new songs, is all important and what's most meaningful and satisfying for him as an artist.

''Paul McCartney Recording at Abbey Road Studios last week. Paul McCartney was spotted recording in Abbey Road Studios last week - probably in Studio Three. He was also seen in the Studios's canteen with Nancy. It is believe he was working on his new album, which he's recording in between his tours. I will post more updates when known...'' http://blog.beatlesinlondon.com/paul-mccartney-recording-at-abbey-road-studios-last-week/

Hopefully it was in studio 1 or 2, for orchestral / string overdubs as that's a sure sign the album sessions are coming to an end.

Definitely sad news, was really looking forward to a new album this year
Yep. I hate to be cynical but I wonder if the rush not to complete it is purely financial. Touring makes a lot more money than new albums. Oh well, hope it comes out in early 2018.
I believe Paul knows the next album, in all likelihood, will be his final proper studio album. He wants it to be well received by critics and fans alike and is taking all the time in the world. What he should be concerned about, as well, is if he will have a voice left to finish recording it. : Yes, he loves touring and the adoration he receives. Fans are willing to overlook the voice because he is so charming. That's why he keeps doing it. IMO. It can't really be about the $$. He has more money than he will ever need. or could use for the rest of his life.
McCartney will not admit it but I think you are right and it will be his last studio album. It is usually around 4-5 years between every new album and I just don't see him doing one when he is 80 years old. Lord only knows what type of physical shape he might be in at 80.
I don't believe for a minute that Paul considers this to be his final album ! The decision re that may very well be taken out of his hands , but he seems to be doing perfectly well right now !

I agree, Paul seems to always be full of good surprises!

The first time I saw Paul in concert was April, 2002. He was 59 years old. I was lucky to see him, I thought, because I assumed that he would never tour again because he would turn 60 in June, 2002. Enough said about that. Never count him out.

Lol Don't underestimate Paul

Tony Bennett, age 91, just sang on Jimmy Kimmel's show last month! Barring any major health problems, Paul will still be performing for many years!

That my feeling exactly. He's going very strong for his age and this seems to be a trend for his generation. Paul, Dylan, The Beach Boys, and The Stones will likely keep kicking for at least another decade or so - the 60s have been the longest decade ever

If his new album is anything like his new site, the tracks will be out of order, a few songs will be missing and it will be copyright 1824.

I have just finished reading Stuart Bell's account of Paul's recent tour in Brazil & Mexico and noticed this info:
"Anyone familiar with Paul’s work rate in the days of The Beatles will know he is no slouch. Back then it was an endless whirl of touring, interviews, radio and TV sessions and somehow between all that they recorded some of the greatest and most important albums and singles of all time. All these years later, Paul is just as careful to use his time productively. Just hours after his São Paulo show, he heads into a recording studio in the city to work on new music, possibly inspired by this trip. And then it is on to Belo Horizonte, around 360 miles north east".
So there was a recording session in Brazil on October 16? That's quite a surprise!

This worries me. If he's in the middle of touring when he records, his voice is not likely to be in the best of shape.
