Well, this is unexpected: next Tuesday, Hear Music is re-releasing "Off The Ground." Looks to be just a straight reissue, and there don't seem to be any other titles coming out.

Despite having the album and all of the related singles (thus have every song associated with that album's recording sessions that was officially released), I wish I had the complete works, all tidied up in one nice little package - except I have one question...I have Midnight Special and Things We Said Today (left overs from the unplugged concert that wasn't included on the official Unplugged album) as b sides on the Biker Like an Icon single...are these songs on the 'Complete Works' version of Off the Ground

Yes, they are on there: http://www.paulmccartney.com/albums/10152-off-the-ground-the-complete-works I don't have this collection, though, since I have all the singles. Part of me does want it anyway!

Kind of funny that they don't just re-release "The Complete Works." It wouldn't really take any extra effort. I guess this means that this album won't be getting the deluxe treatment at all.

That sucks 'cause it deserves it--especially the "Complete Works" version

LOVE LOVE LOVE Off The Ground. The songs played during the 1993 shows went over huge; in KC, the crowd cheered for 3 minutes after C'mon People; Biker Like an Icon just plain rocked; Off The Ground sounded great; etc. etc. A really under rated lp; way way better than Speed of Sound, Red Rose, London Town, Flowers In The Dirt.

                      I sort of doubt that.

I do wonder, though, for the ones that don't get deluxe reissues, will Hear Music at least do straight reissues of all those other titles in his catalogue?

I doubt anything after Pipes will GET the Deluxe treatment. Off the ground IMO certainly One of Paul's weaker efforts.

There may be a POWER CUT and maybe I love you so, me I love you so, me I love you soooo....

What's the point in re-releasing it without "Is It Raining In London?"? Will it ever see the light of day?

OFF THE GROUND may be weak compared to, say, TUG OF WAR or BAND ON THE RUN. But it certainly can hold its own with FLOWERS IN THE DIRT. Even FLAMING PIE. It buries everything since.

Very cool! It's one of my faves and I listen to it pretty frequently still.

From Amazon Product Description Digitally remastered reissue of the ninth solo studio album by the legendary Sir Paul McCartney, originally released in 1993. As his first studio album of the 1990s, it is also the follow-up to his acclaimed 1989 endeavor, Flowers in the Dirt. Sir Paul decided to record the album "live in the studio," meaning that the band would rehearse an entire song then record it in one take, instead of recording each vocal track and instrumental track separately. This approach gave a new, raw and direct feel to the work. His increased interest in social issues came to prominence on this album, with the anti-animal cruelty rocker 'Looking for Changes,' or paeans for a better world ('Hope of Deliverance' and 'C'mon People'). This is an important album in the McCartney catalog of music, and is a pivotal addition to all McCartney music collections, and Rock music collections in general.

Yep, this makes you wonder why he went so Beatle top heavy in setlist in tours after 1993.

                                          Maybe I'm amazed !!

Hmm. Seems a bit odd to re-release just this one album out of the blue, for no apparent reason. Especially considering that Off the Ground is one of Paul's lesser-known albums. Personally it's one of my favourites and I never quite understood why it wasn't received all that well. I was hoping it might get some form of Archive Collection treatment at some stage, but perhaps this re-release makes that more unlikely. I was actually hoping all of the post-Beatles albums, at least up to Off the Ground, would be released as part the Archive Collection, because they've really put the effort in and made a terrific job of the re-releases so far, and the albums really do sound as good as they can possibly sound. I wouldn't expect big box sets for each and every album but at least remasters of the original albums, perhaps with a bonus CD or DVD included.
