just found this about bbking.. http://instagram.com/p/tS3DBRlTYH/
I dont want to be judging fast on that. but really I was expecting more soul in singing and solo from BBKing this song deserves to be on the best classical blues list ever!
another cover of On The Way!
This is amazing. He is doing great. imagine if it was Jimmy page or Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck who is handling this song!

R u kiddin? what is this? if Bob Dylan should cover any Paul song then he should not do the vocals. seriously!

I agree with all that you said! The no name guy that is of course NOT on the album does a really great job didn't he? Check out his list of videos...he does a bunch of covers. Beatles, John, Paul & more.

I think you meant more "soul" not "sole." (but I agree with you!)

So who is springing for the deluxe version?

yes, glad the meaning was more obvious than my spelling From what I've heard of demos so far, maybe the album aims to make people go back to original tracks and understand that no one can sing like Paul McCartney. And this is a fact!

Thanks for sharing that. Wasn't sure how Alice would do, but I like it. Very close to the original, though.

I think this is a really cool project! It is great to hear McCartney tunes interpreted by others. I was skeptical, but even Dylan and Willie Nelson's versions have charm and style. Of course, they are quite different from Paul but that's the point. If someone else doing these songs sounds great, then they are great songs. Can't wait to get it!

Do you really think they sound different? I was hoping for so much more. I think most sound like the originals.

Well, I think if you have Daltrey sing Helter Skelter, it is going to be raw and heavy. Maybe they picked folks for the style of music they play. But there is no way Dylan or Nelson sound too close to the originals. I mean, if you want a reggae version of Here There and Everywhere, I have no use for that.
-
The arrangements are too close to the originals is more what I meant. Of course the voices are different. Even Brian Wilson made it sound like the Beach Boys but with the same arrangements.

Fair enough. But aren't they going to sound close to the originals if, as I have heard, Paul's band is playing behind the singers? I thought that is what was happening on some of these. But I do get your point. It is difficult to stray from the originals when they are so iconic and ingrained in all our DNA. Our mariachi tribute act covers Beatles tunes, and strives to have very mariachi arrangements of the songs, but damn if it is hard not to just play the arrangements the Beatles did. They are perfect! Ha ha!

I agree. The music is so good. Sometimes I wish Paul would realize how good his solo stuff is along with his Beatles stuff. I just found this online...Pure McCartney...complete show covering Ram. Why can't Paul do some of these songs?

I've seen this guy. Very good! And you make a good point about Paul.

So far, Owl City's LTWTMS sounds like my favorite cut so far. Still looking forward to Cheap Tricks' take on Jet and Kiss with Rock Show. Could do without Willie Nelson.
