Don't know but Paul shredds on that thing!! never heard something like that before, at least never seen it being played. seems almost fretless? very Nirvana sounding, very sort of early Nirvana dissonant punk. awesome.

It was an iconic scene. Nirvana never sounded this good live (with all due respect to Kurt!!). The group was tight as if they had been playing together for years. Great bass line throughout the song. Paul & Dave's vocals was just right. Dave was a madman on drums. The tune itself was great - had elements of White Album Beatles & Led Zeppelin, with a very Nirvanish ending. Would love to see a full album with Paul & Dave collaborating!

Please... Did you look at the link I posted? That was way better. Lets not talk crazy. What they did was barely even a song, it was clearly a jam. There was hardly a chorus and only a pretty minor and quite simplistic change in the key at one point. It was cool but to say Nirvana never sounded this good live!? I suppose I am on a Paul forum...

I can't be the only one to post this, but I heard the group referred to as Sirvana by the press. I quite like the name (all due respect to Kurt Cobain of course......)

On the main site they refer to the song as "Paul performs with Nirvana" I honestly don't know how I feel about that. I don't think that calling them Nirvana is an injustice to Kurt. Look at Queen, they still perform with other lead singers (Paul Rodgers, Adam Lambert) and nobody fells like it's an insult to Freddie Mercury.

Well it'll be a cold day in hell when Paul covers a song newer than......let's say......1985. Just to say, I don't think Paul will be covering a Nirvana song anytime soon. But, not the other way around. Dave Grohl has already covered Maybe I'm Amazed.

Hey, I'd like to add my two cents' worth regarding the new song (Cut Me Some Slack)... First up, I'm a huge Paul fan AND (to a slightly lesser degree) a huge Nirvana fan as well. I've been harbouring the hope for a long time now that Paul and Dave would collaborate on some new music. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they've been secretly working on material, and keeping it under the radar so as not let expectations get too carried away. That said, when they finally do decide to unveil a new song, I've been hoping it would be something Pretty Darn Amazing. They have the world at their feet with the Hurricane Sandy concert. I would be so disappointed if these two men of great talent released only a half-baked song. So, I've been listening to the new song, and as with any Paul song, I tend to over-analyze it and take it apart and turn all the pieces upside down. I am feeling a bit mixed on my first impression. I'm keeping in mind that being a live performance, the song is going to sound sludgy. I'll wait to hear the recorded version before passing my own personal judgment. But these are first impressions.... In a general sense, I LOVE the energy of the song. I mean, who wouldn't love a bluesy, balls-to-the-wall rocker that sounds birthed from the white album, channeled through Nirvana and the Fireman, and served up in full blazing glory today? This is exactly the kind of song I had been expecting from Paul and Dave. But now I start picking apart the pieces of the song. The intro bit sounds like a cliched riff you would hear on a 50's TV shows introducing the Indians in an old-fashioned cowboy/old west show. Hmmmm. The verse of the song seems okay-ish, nothing exceptional to me. I'm wondering if there's an amazing riff under the verse that I'll hear better in the recorded version. It changes key, or does an interesting thing at the end of the verse which is really turning me on. Sounds like a very cool hook! It's hard to describe the parts, as it's an oddly-structured song (which I like for it's oddness), so I'm not sure if there's a clear-cut chorus in this song or not. The song breaks into another section (a middle 8?! Darned if I know, lol) which strikes me as .....okay-ish. Again, I'll have to wait to hear the recorded version. In the outro of the song, they get into some strange, dark chord changes which I rather liked! Personally, I don't want to cut Paul and Dave any slack because they ARE two enormously talented men, haha. Hopefully the recorded versions comes out soon and we can all have a true taste of this collaboration.

This song has grown on me, it reminds me of Electric Arguments and it makes me think that this is Paul's version of Yer Blues! On the spur of the moment I would say I could go for a double album of material like "Cut Me Some Slack" with the Nirvana guys right now! It could restore people faith in him (particularly in the UK) and could cement him as a rock god to a generation that doesn't have a clue about Ebony and Ivory and We All Stand Together! Also Paul was brilliant last night! I feel bad for having doubted his voice after the last TV performances but he tore the roof off!

That absolutely made me LMAO. When I saw him playing that square guitar that he has never played live (I think!) I knew something peculiar was gonna happen. Mr. Play It Safe has get out of his Groundhog Day or so. "No more Groundhog days... No more Groundhog days..."

"Also Paul was brilliant last night! I feel bad for having doubted his voice after the last TV performances but he tore the roof off!" And, he looked very young too! I think Paul needed changes in his musicals friendships, his current band is great, but he needs more for doing it better.
