Does anyone know the details re: re-recording vocals because Paul wasn't happy with them? I wonder if this has been the reason for the long wait between new albums, or is it just that he's been busy with other stuff and felt there was no urgency to get a new album out? If he's recorded more than 50 new songs. it begs the question, Why not release an album of new material much earlier? I can't recall an album coming with so little news leaking. Hopefully that is a good thing and he'll pleasantly surprise us all!
Who knows but i'm sure that could be the main reason for this delay. it has been mentioned a few times he was unhappy with his vocals & lets face it the last few years they have been ropey.
AND it's also been mentioned that he had vocal surgery so maybe he was waiting for that.
I wonder how Sir Paul has had vocal surgery and be on tour at the same time? And trying to record an album too. And be running around shopping? He is quite the amazing man isn't he? I just hope I hear the album eventually.
-
The rumored vocal surgery is one theory behind the abrupt cancellation of the Denmark concert.
-
right...he was not touring at the time.
-
oh, that explains it all. I'd still like to know what vitamins and supplements he takes to be so energetic and productive. I want/need some too. Thanks.

AGREED! He must drink from the fountain of youth for that kind of energy.

This new album should be a big seller for Paul...hopefully it will break Band on the Run in terms of sales.

Wishful thinking, but over 6 Million? That will never happen now! The music biz just doesn't sell that many albums anymore. Back in the 70"s they did all the time, now it's rare anyone sells over One million.

Well Adele is certainly bucking the trend, her album 21 has sold 26.5 million worldwide since it came out in early 2011. Paul's sales even in the '70's pale next to her album shifting, even though with her i just don't get the fascination.

Definitely an anomaly. These days, an album can hit number one with as little as 30 or 40 thousand copies, which is pathetic. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if this were Paul's biggest seller since "Flaming Pie," anyway.

IMO - McCartney record will go "Gold" and if he gets good critical reviews maybe outside shot at "Platinum". I just don't see a McCartney record selling big outside of his base. You need the casual fan to buy the record for huge sales and for that to happen he needs a really commercial single and some radio play.
-
How about a commercial? Sirvana...

Paul needs a like button, that way everyone can say they like it and carry on. I imagine it is on his facebook. I can only imagine....

Absolutely. And I remember the days when a million seller, actually meant one million units sold. Not like today.

just curious has Paul "tested" any new songs on tour? probably not. I think with record sales being poor or diluted explains why so many artist tour. Yep looking forward to it

Maybe because 85% of the audience wouldn't be the slightest bit interested in a new song. He's painted himself into a corner over the last 20 years to the point that most in the crowd are lapping up third rate Beatle songs, over top notch solo songs. For this reason alone I will never part with my cash to see him live these days.......not that he will venture anywhere near here.....1979 was the last visit !

Well, I'd say there are no "third rate" Beatles songs, haha! I'd love to see him do more solo tracks, but I'm not going to boycott his live shows: he's still a great performer.

IMO - I would consider "All Together Now" a 3rd rate Beatle song.

I'd consider "C Moon" a third-rate solo Paul song, but that didn't stop him from playing it live numerous times. I have a theory that it was the audience's less-than-rapturous reception to that song that soured him on playing other non-hits from the solo years. But I think he was also surprised at how excited the audience was for "Too Many People".

... I was checking the gap btw. first album info leaks and the final release date of 'Memory' - it was around 6 weeks. Hence imo mid October would fit, means lets be ready for first info around Sept. Post vacation season makes sense.... All fits to the october rumour and to the comment of Pauls Security at Verona....It will be mid Oct and I predict a number one, a great single, grammy and fantastic media comeback......i feel it....its his final big shot....
