Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!

No doubt Paul's band will be featured on several of the albums tracks....mores the pity. On a Paul McCartney solo album I'd rather Paul did everything.....drums,guitars,keyboards etc etc .....having outsiders performing just dilutes the process.

Couldn't agree more, this " band " do nothing for me, lets hope they are kept to a minimum & have more Macca.

When I think he will take 6 or 7 years to release an album... That's the time he needed for writing all his Beatles songs... 1962-1969... So, yes! it's not Paul hasn't done a thing after The Beatles break-up but certainly no period of his works can't even compare to that. Imagine if this was 1969 and he had to release an album of the stuff he was writing for 6 years... how many classics wouldn't be just out of the album?. McCartney 1962-1969 1 Get Back 2 Yesterday 3 Here, There and Everywhere 4 Sgt Pepper LCHB 5 The Long And Winding Road 6 Can't Buy Me Love 7 Here There And Everywhere 8 Penny Lane 9 Eleanor Rigby 10 We Can Work It Out 11 Let It Be 12 Hey Jude 13 Golden Slumbers 14 Carry That Weight 15 The End ... and this would be just an "ordinary" album, not a greatest hits one...
One of your best posts, Ollie.
maybe except for repeating Here, There and Everywhere in the album, like if there were no great songs avalaible...
It's Paul's (and my) favorite so why not?
well, because the song would be then played twice in the album, it could be a different version this version is not bad, especially because of the strings arrangement, it's like the strings arrangement Here There and Everywhere would have had ... no surprise cause in this version the arrangement is made by a certain George Martin

It is my Paul's fav album and one of my all-time fav albums. And it's a very "Paul" album, very happy and uplifting. I don't like the sound (loudness war and all that)... well, someday there will be a remaster I guess... I think it is on the league of Sgt Pepper, Revolver or Abbey Road... and I know most disagree with my previous statement

It's really more a WINGS ALBUM Then anything ...in my top 5
-
Had it been released twenty years ago it would have went to number one.

I tend to agree with that. The same has been said about Driving Rain, too.

It's the horrible sound which has been discussed for years on this board. I don't know enough about the recording process to know who's to blame (David Kahne? the engineers? Paul?) but I can't listen to more than 4 songs at a time before I have to put on Chaos or Tug of War or Revolver.

I'm not so sure the band will be on the album. Paul's referred to them as his "touring band" for years. That's their purpose. When Paul wanted a guitarist for My Valentine he sure didn't turn to Rusty. The next great solo he plays on Let It Be will be his first.

The band plays on nearly half of Memory, so it's reasonable to assume they will feature on some tracks. One thing is for certain, Paul has a huge mountain of recorded tracks available. 50 + songs.

In general, doesn?t he work better in tandem with one person rather than a band? Many examples, starting from John, through many others, up to Godrich and Youth more recently.. Don?t know really, what do you think?

McCartney is at his best with a band, he always has been. After the Beatles when he was down, Linda told him he could still do music, so what did McCartney do, he started a band. He likes being in a band, he likes the creative energy and juices that flow between band members. The one man band thing is cool, but he's done that for the most part recently, now it's time for the full treatment, for the full energy of a band, make the most powerful rocking album!

The songs are great but for me the mastering is just horrible it has no dynamic range or warmth.

It simply won't work. Paul finally realized that. The "Wings At The Speed of Sound" album fully demonstrated that. People wanted to hear Paul...just Paul. They didn't want a number from each member of the "band". We didn't want to hear Linda singing about being the cook in the house, or.....whatever. On the '76 tour, when Paul wasn't singing, people were headed for beer and/or whatever. Denny Laine had some good songs....liked "Time To Hide", but people were NOT interested in it...or him. When you buy a Paul McCartney album...you just want him. Now when he was in the Beatles, it was a different matter. They were all stars and multi talented. It was those four people. That was a BAND. He can't have a "band" anymore.

I think we're just talking about them playing on the album, not singing or writing. At this point, I can't even imagine Paul giving vocals to anyone else.

It will probably be a smorgasbord of things, but personally I prefer a one man band. Use the band to play it live. I feel like it is more of a Paul McCartney album when he does everything. I don't want other people's input on there for heavens sake. Also, with this many songs, I feel it might really be a double album, or a 2 cd package. I'm certainly not against that idea.

It's not accurate, altough is on the MAF booklet, that the band plays on half of the album. In fact, Paul himself (and Brian Ray) stated that he re-recorded all the bass parts by Brian and on some songs (i.e. FEET IN THE CLOUDS) Paul even cancelled all the tracks (except for Rusty's guitar) and re-cut the song with Kahne.

they call it "loudness war" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war it makes it sound as loud as possible all the time, but then it lacks dinamic range, there's never a loudness change or so... and the worst thing is that causes some noises that sound horrible... especially when with sounds of drums... when the drums does the beat is the natural moment of loudest sound in a recording... With "loudness war" that little moment the drum beats there's like a overload of loudness then it doesn't sound right, it's a disturbing moment (repeated a lot of times, lol...) Anyway I wouldn't mind Paul's next album has "loudness War" if that will guarantee it won't have "autotune".

Why do I have a feeling Paul's next album will be a #1? I've got a funny feeling this ones going to surprise.
