Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!

left hand man:
this new song sounds to tame and safe to me. I was hoping for something more exciting and energetic. I hope this is just a preview and not the first single.
I'm sure there is scope enough for that on the 14 track album. I'm certain this is not representative of the whole album: moreover I'm anticipating a broad diversity of styles.

"New" is now avaialable to downolad from itunes in the us.

Yes, they've been describing a VERY wide range. I think this is just one of many genres that'll be explored...albeit, one that Paul basically invented himself. I'm excited for "Hosanna"...which is just supposed to be Paul and a guitar...maybe we'll finally have a replacement for "Blackbird".

Doubt it would replace "Blackbird". I can imagine it would added to the setlist, and "Blackbird" staying, like what he did with "Jenny Wren" during the '05 tour.

True...it was just wishful thinking. That would open the door for more new songs...of course, I need some US dates first ...preferably in 2014....I'm still recovering from that gold package this summer! ops:

Left Hand Man said Don't know if the band is on the album, but both Abe and Rusty said they had been recording with McCartney. I hope they are included because this new song sounds to tame and safe to me. I was hoping for something more exciting and energetic. I hope this is just a preview and not the first single. Oh and this is nowhere near better then everything off of Memory Almost Full, because Only Mama Knows, Mr. Bellamy, Vintage Clothes, That Was Me, Feet In The Clouds, House Of Wax and The End Of The End blow this new song away! I agree with you, people here are comparing New with Penny Lane, yeh right. I'ts an ok song, but nowhere near as good as the top tracks of MAF, EA and Chaos. I hope the new album has better tracks than this single, something as great as Only mama knows, Nothing Too much just out of sight, Lonely Road , Jenny Wren or Too much Rain

I think some folks are using the term "better" inappropriately. We should all agree that while this has a message, it's basically Paul's special breed of baroque bubble gum pop, not to be over thought. There is sure to be heavier material, and more soulful material as well.

Singles are rarely the most profound, original or challenging tracks on an album. This is catchy and memorable and Beatlesque and really charming. For what it is, it's great. I'm optimistic that there will be other tracks that are more surprising, like Mr. Bellamy, etc. Not every tune has to be profound, but this is a winner -- a cheerful, entertaining piece of classic McCartney pop with just enough of an undertone of seriousness that it doesn't feel like a complete trifle. I'm a happy camper.

Played the song for my Dad. He immediately started tapping his foot along to the music! EDIT: Paul McCartney's official channel on YouTube also posted the song:
Full description via Paul's Facebook page: "What's 'New' with Paul McCartney? Today Paul has made some 'New' music available. It's available from HERE: http://smarturl.it/PMnewiTunes Speaking about the New track, Paul said: "We can do what we want, we can live as we choose." This new track hints at things to come from Paul's forthcoming New album, set for release on October 14th in the UK (October 15th in the US). This will be his first album of brand New solo material in six years. Paul's New album will include 12 new songs, which he worked on with new collaborators. Paul?s New song is produced by Mark Ronson. More new details to follow in the coming weeks... Check it out below and let us know what you think?" -
via twitter. October 14/15 confirmed. New

I'm happy for all of you. I like Paul's pop side too, but I was hoping for something stronger. I even think that Ever Present Past is better than this ( the middle eight of EPP was very good , IMHO). "Singles are rarely the most profound, original or challenging tracks on an album". Yeh, but Paul could release a rock single for a change or something more impressive as a preview. Jet, Band on the run, Jenny Wren, The World Tonight, the Back seat of my car, all are examples of complex and catchy singles. I hope Paul has a great sucess with the New song, I don't hate it, I think is nice, but I was expecting something amazing.

Someone posted the actual times for 14 songs. Maybe there are 2 extra songs for the deluxe edition?

Paul's rock singles have usually not done as well as his pop singles -- for example, Listen to What the Man Said and With a Little Luck both charted far higher (at least in the U.S.) than Venus and Mars/Rock Show and I've Had Enough. There is logic to this as a single.

Hmm... iTunes lists 14 songs, and the description says 12, and nothing is mentioned about a deluxe edition. I'm thinking you're right that we'll get 14 songs for the deluxe edition, we just haven't gotten all the details just yet!

On my third listen now and I love it! Very Beatlesque, catchy and fun. Even more excited for the album now!
-
Band is only on a few songs....Quite a few tracks left after using the 14 for the album..hoping for b-sides or the deluxe-deluxe version and then the absolute deluxe version. Should be very varied considering the way it was recorded

There is logic to this as a single. Yeh, but with Band on the Run he had three hits with rock songs. And things like Junior's farm or Live and let die were also very successful. The problem is he has to choose the "right" rock song. For example, he chose Nod your head instead Only mama knows for the third single from Maf. The thing is, rock or pop, at this point of his career, I was expecting something more adventurous from Macca. I repeat, I don't hate the song, is catchy, is ok, but is not a great song, and I love Paul's last studio albums ( Maf, EA, CHAOS and DR, not a big fan of Kisses though)
