Well, now Consequence of Sound is reporting it as a definite thing that is happening - and might even be an album: http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/08/kanye-west-and-paul-mccartney-are-recording-music-together-including-song-titled-piss-on-my-grave/ I honestly don't know how I feel about this... Completely torn (but, at the very least, it should be interesting) LOL Love or hate Kanye, one thing is obvious: a collaboration like this gives him his best chances at a going #1 with an album or single in 30 years... (I just think someone like Justin Timberlake would have been a better fit)

Really? song titled piss on my grave? : : : Maybe Paul can sing that at his next Beatlefest...& see how many people run to the restroom.

Hold on to your hats! http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/08/18/kanye-west-paul-mccartney-collaborating-on-new-music-report-says/ Not what we were expecting, I'd say. ___________ (The above was merged from another thread I started without seeing this one first.) I can't wait to hear Paul go "uhh!" every so often in these songs. Mr. Spock is right, it's definitely his best chance of a #1 these days, if it actually pans out into an album.

If I had heard of Kanye West no doubt I would have had an opinion ...... ops:

The only thing I can tell you was that during an awards show several years back, he trashed Taylor Swift right up on the stage because he thought someone else should've won the award Swift won...that's about the extent of my knowledge of him...LOL

He married a Kardashian...which takes him down a few more notches.

The only thing interesting about this collaboration is Paul.

I don't know - a few years ago, when Paul collaborated during the Grammys for that rendition of 'Yo Yesterday', not even Paul was interesting (sorry, but that was my opinion of that performance...he kicked ass during Helter Skelter, however)

Still gossip, but this would be mega. Kanye West is one of the biggest musical geniuses of my generation, and it would be a musical dream to see him collaborating with Paul McCartney.

The only way Paul will get another #1 single is by partnering with popular acts like Kanye, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, or Timberlake. He needs to do it.

Indeed. Macca 'needs' him more than the other way round. Especially creatively. First snippet is in: http://instagram.com/p/qF_eiIGJZ4

I am all for Paul collaborating with contemporary chart-toppers/performers/songwriters/producers...except this. There is no recording artist I loathe more than Kanye West. I do not care for his material at all. No thanks! That being said...I will, however, give anything he records a chance. He is, afterall, Sir Paul McCartney and I have tremendous respect for his songbook. I only hope it's something worth this effort. I'd love to see him collaborate in the realm of alt or punk rock, or metal, or something in that field. Not this.
-
Say it ain't so, Paul. I will try to keep an open mind about this. I have a hate/love regard for Kanye West. He speaks the ugly-truth, not unlike John Lennon, but his leviathan ego just turns my stomach. Oy vey. Let's hope that Paul doesn't DARE try to rap.

Kanye is not a singles artist. He's had only 3 or so No. 1 hits in his career and those were 5 years ago -- tracks like Gold Digger and Stronger. The closest he came since was 2011's "Ni--as in Paris" with Jay-Z. Kanye is an album artist. He's been producing critically acclaimed albums that are also commercially successful, though, like every other artist, his CD sales have shrunk with each album as the CD market has disappeared. The point of this would be an intriguing artistic collaboration that could also sell a lot of albums. But a No. 1 single would be a longshot.
