Paul Collaborating with Kanye West

Best comment I read on FB about this: Please no. I had enough apologizing and trying to explain The Girl is Mine

Funny joke. Of course, a collaboration with Kanye would sound miles away from The Girl is Mine.

And let's not forget he was the guy who hogged the stage on 12-12-12 (is it really that long ago already?!), causing Paul to come on so late that many people missed Paul's performance!
Hey, I had forgotten about that! Everyone in the theater where I watched it got really upset because it ended before Paul came on! Some people started leaving, and because there were so many people asking to see Paul play, luckily the theater was able to find another station broadcasting the show, so we just barely got to catch Paul playing!

People here are very judgmental before anyone has heard any music :

To be honest, my only experience with Kayne is that performance. The only thing I liked is that he tried to rock a black leather skirt. (I'm a sucker for those on either gender). other then that....he was mediocre and on way way too long and his songs all sounded alike but like I said, I admit rap isn't my thing. If someone who likes rap enjoyed it, who am I to criticize? Dhani Harrison did a collaberation with some angry rappers. He enjoyed it enough to issue to versions of the song on the same 4 song LP. I'll be honest, it's not my favorite piece and it's politics are dated and were outdated even by the time the album was released

No one is judging any of the new music (it's not been done yet) just what some know & dislike about rap and/or Kanye. Must be his reputation. KO...for you...the skirt :

If Paul wants to do a rap song, maybe he ought to look into collaberating with this girl. At least she's saying something: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10204250744971795

YES! Great vid AND great message. Thanks for posting it!

Say it ain't so! That's at least one song with McCartney on it I will not be getting.
-
Thoughts? Did anyone listen to the 5 second leak or have access to it? Apparent reports on the song is call "Piss on your Grave"

I must say I find it striking that it seems like the only time anyone gets upset about Paul collaborating with someone, it's when the other artist is black. And no, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, just noticing a pattern. There are plenty of valid reasons to object to some of Paul's other collaborators (e.g. Dave Grohl's public embrace of crackpot AIDS theories -- see http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2000/02/foo-fighters-hiv-deniers),,) but I never seem to hear those complaints. Just sayin'.

Whats with all the Kanye hate?? Immensely creative & popular artist. His album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" has an eclectic mix of different sounds - pop, soul, hip-hop, electronic, baroque, & symphonic & is often regarded as the "Sergeant Pepper" of the new century. Paul is fortunate to collaborate with another musical genius.

That's baloney. He's an arrogant jerk who's full of himself, and I don't like his music either.

It has nothing to do with him being black. I do not care for that style of music. It could be Eminem or many other artists. And for the record I happen to like Ebony and Ivory and Say Say Say. I just do not like the hiphop music genre.

Seems like many of you are brainwashed by TMZ and too much fed with stereotypes. If I would have written McCartney's music off based on the many douche-y public appearances, I would be pretty narrow-minded. If I would have concentrated solely on McCartney's public image over here, oh boy... It's the same what's happening regarding Kanye West over here now. This is Kanye West:
He's one of the most creative intriguing, passionate, honest, raw and inspirational artists of my time. Someone who puts on a 2-3 hour shows with decors never seen before, always trying to reinvent himself with every step he is taking. McCartney will be very eager to work with him from a musical perspective. This has got nothing to with scoring hits, staying hip or even thinking about McCartney trying to rap. Kanye West is so much more than that. This feels like having to explain to someone that Nickelback and The Beatles are both rock artists, but not really on the same level. Not a stretch for a big audience in the last 10 years: http://www.metacritic.com/music/my-beautiful-dark-twisted-fantasy/kanye-west http://www.metacritic.com/music/yeezus/kanye-west http://www.metacritic.com/music/college-dropout/kanye-westI did take a look at the Runaway movie and I can see where you are going with your comments, I did enjoy it. Also listened again to the 12 12 12 concert bit. I enjoyed the sampled bits, such as Rihanna singing Diamonds, with Kanye. Was imaging something like that with Paul, perhaps? We should just wait and see what those two create together... I'm sure it's going to be interesting and perhaps controversial, however.... I've always been pleasantly surprised with the outcome, when Paul works on these projects of his. Musically he is so gifted. Maybe we should try and support him with this project. Shouldn't we hear it first before we make up our minds? Electric Arguments, Kisses On The Bottom and also New have been three of his more recent projects that explored some different areas, and I think they all turned out really well for the genre that they covered!! I'm going to wait to listen to the music, before I make up my mind...

I don't understand people who can dismiss an entire genre of music. If there's one pattern in Paul's career (and the Beatles before him), it's that every genre is exciting and full of possibilities. The Beatles could do screamers like "Long Tall Sally" and "Rock And Roll Music" as well as tender ballads like "Till There Was You" and "To Know Her Is To Love Her" and country ditties like "Honey Don't" and "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby" and soulful R&B numbers like "Please Mr. Postman" and on and on. And then their original music reflected those influences. In Paul's career, he's done rock, folk, country, classical, R&B, jazz, metal, punk, new wave, electronica, blues, reggae, children's music, you name it. I think he's been a huge part of my love of diversity in music. I think every genre of music, including rap, is good, if the right people are doing it. I don't love Kanye, but he's good and clever at what he does, and he's a skilled and influential producer as well, so I say give it a chance.

: It has nothing to do with race. I don't care for the songs Paul did with Elvis Costello either. I've said it before...I don't like (that much) any of his duets. Except of course with the Beatles. And he didn't actually do a duet with Grohl...so that one is fine.

But, truth be told: Paul tends to score HUGE hits when he partners up with a brutha'. Just sayin'

Or in Michael Jackson's case -- a sista'. "ZING!!!"
