? re Grammy nominations

Was "New" released in time to be considered for a Grammy this year (2014 show)? I know this has probably been discussed before but I can't find it. Thanks.

2015 apparently, if it was 2014 it would have a terrific chance of at least getting nominated for Album of the Year. Now there will be the best part of 2014 to give it a lot more competition

The song "New" was released in time for the 2014 Grammys, but that's it.

Cut off date was Sept. 30th, so no, not eligible for 2014. 2015 though!

That's a pisser--it's a cinch to have been nominated this year considering all the praise it's garnered Will it happen next year?

It definitely could if people don't forget about it in a years time. Summer Tour perhaps keeping it fresh?

Thanks for the info.

But wasn't the song New released in time? That's what someone said here on a different thread.

The song was. Not the album.

Yes, so couldn't the song be nominated then?

For "song of the year" or "record of the year" or best performance by a rock musician, something like that? Or in the "pop" category? They've got right many different categories.

All of those are possible. Probable? I don't know, but we can hope!

"New" could credibly find itself in the Best Pop Vocal Male category.

It is a incredible mistake IMO that "New" was released after cutoff date, it will be long forgotten in 2015 unfortunately.

Paul doesn't rush anything, as his "Archive" releases clearly show. I think he'd rather take his time to make something as good as it can be. A Grammy would be nice but awards aren't his goal.

I don't think having it released two weeks earlier would have effected the quality of "New" but the more chance of creating some buzz for the CD would have been nice.

I don't think awards are necessarily Paul's goal, but I would guess that Hear Music has some interest in that. I said way, way back that September 24 would have been perfect, but then Elton John and Sting both claimed that week, so that probably wouldn't have worked in the end for Paul. October 1 would have been too late for the Grammys.
