Sometimes it's kind of depressing to see Paul get older

I hope I'm that "spunky" at 40.

I always compare my own current age to what Paul was doing at that age. For example, I am now almost 49 years old. Paul turned 49 years old in 1991. I was already worried that he was getting to old to gone much longer back then. He had just toured in 89-90 and thought that he might be going to retire. He had turned 40 as I graduate high school in 1982 and I thought that was old. Now, I realize that 49 is just not that old and 40 is really, really young. He was 59 years old when I first saw him in concert in April, 2002 (in Las Vegas). I remember hoping that as I bought tickets, he could still perform a three hour concert at that advanced age. Now that Paul is 70 and still rocking, 59 seems young. Thus, in some ways, Paul keeps me young. I hope that he is performing in his 80s, giving all of us young ones hope for the future. I have followed Paul since my sister had a Beatles album called "Something New" (that included songs from a Hard's Day Night). When my Mom used to dust our stereo, she would take out the albums. I would then identify the four Beatles and Paul was my favorite from that early age. I must had been about 3 or 4 then. Paul has always been part of my life and watching him age has just been part of living my life.

I don't find aging depressing, rather interesting. I've said it a million times, I'm surprised Paul tours and is as active as he is still. 70's a full life, especially in showbiz. not like he can't live another 30 years, god willing. but think of the memories that guy has. the nice thing for him is so many of his memories are so well documented. imagine if all your best moments were documented so amazingly well in photo's, press cliping, and in songs for that matter. I have awesome memories in my own life that seems so long ago (I'm 35), and took place when I was such a different person than I am today, that some of them even feel like dreams to me at this point. I wonder how it is for Paul, how out of body the events seem at this point, even though they're so well documented? He's a lucky man in so many ways. for the person involved, all they are doing is continuing, living every day. its awesome. I'm happy for him and anyone who can be so vital and present at an age of 70+. I know I'm not saying anything different from how anyone else on this board feels, its just a crazy life Paul's had! I hope he's working on a new album the music man. ageless in my eyes. because of the records. makes no difference to me how he sounds these days. he's more a figure head to me now. a man who's given so much. wow. Thanks!
You said everything I wanted to say, Kapoo.

It's just like he said when he turned 64...he should rename the song When I'm 84. 60 is the new 40.

Getting older definitely has its downsides -- which, at 56, I am beginning to become acquainted with. But at least we -- and his family -- have Paul at 70. We lost John and George way too young. Growing older is the lesser of evils!
-
Paul looks better now than he did ten years ago. He sounds better in the latter part of 2012 than he has in the past three years. He's definitely dressing better. I celebrate that he is his age and can still surprise me from time to time. It's so inspiring to know that a 66-year-old man made an album like Electric Arguments. It's inspiring that, at 70, Paul can have audiences leaving his concerts feeling fully alive.

I completely understand, having been a fan since the 80s, I was concerned over Paul's age when he was in his late 40s. I've learned over the years to just appreciate the man and his talents and stop worrying about the dreaded moment when he stops recording and that other dreaded moment.

its like when i would hear his older stuff, and i start to think that he sound like this anymore it is almost depresing

I've been a fan since 1964 and Paul is only 9 years older than me. I do know that as I age, there are more aches and pains. Paul is in better shape than I am. I am positive of that. No way could I get up there on stage and perform a 3 hour concert. I envy him and his energy. When he took that fall in St. Louis, I was afraid he wouldn't pop back up and laugh if off--but he did. What a relief. Paul does look younger now than he did 10 years ago. I believe that is because he is a happier man.

My main thought about someone like Paul who became so well known while he was young and pretty is that he may be one of the few men who understand certain aspects of being a woman. (we're not allowed to age while men are) but then, he likes them younger too so maybe he doesn't understand it all that well.

Good point, Kathryn, I've always wondered how important is to him to have women more younger than him for feel and look more young. May be this is his way, and don't forget his little daugther, in this case I think he needs to looks more younger, and to feel it too. Is not easy to be an old daddy, I say this for my own experience, my father was an old man, he was 56 years old when I've borned, and I have a sister 6 years minus than me, so I know how it's feels. I lost him when I finished college. So this a powerful reason for Paul looks and feels more younger than he really is...he have to

Whether male or female (and all others in-between), fame + money + power = younger mates. Madonna Cher Tina Turner Macca Trump (yecchhhhh!) Not to suggest that the love is any less genuine than those in a relationship who are of the same age. And to Paul's credit, Linda was a few years older than Paul.

She was only 9 months older than Paul audi! (born Sept. 24, 1941)

Really? I know they looked the same age, but I thought Linda was born earlier than that. She looked great, either way.
-
Yep, really! Hey I watched your video singing the Elvis song--very good (of course I only checked it out to see you in your jammies!) I didn't know you were a lefty!

Unbelievable! I've done that my whole life and have never told anyone. I'm 38 now, have been a fan since the 80s. I was around 14 when I first heard the Beatles and thinking how old John and Ring seemed when they quit the band. It was only when I myself turned 30 that I realized how young they really were and how much they had accomplished so early in life. It's funny the little games we play in our heads.
