FourFiveSeconds- new collab. with Rihanna, Kanye and Paul

I wonder if folks here would truly like these songs if they didn't know Paul was involved?
I don't think it would change my opinion that the songs are ok but nothing special.

I don't think it's about gaining a new audience, except maybe in Kanye's case more international recognition. Rihanna's clearly a global superstar, so she's got nothing to gain. I think it's more about respect for McCartney than anything, who he is and what he's accomplished. He's arguably the most widely recognized musician on the planet. I don't think they are "riding his coattails", but I do think it's more to their benefit than his. I just think his fans are rolling their eyes and going wtf.
Well, more riding his coattails for respect (among a demographic that would utterly dismiss them, and apparently many still do!), not success. I can't count how many times I've seen people comment on the huge number of hits Rihanna has had, saying it's an abomination and she doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as artists from the past. Sorry, folks, time marches on and tastes change. It took awhile, but people got used to Madonna having lots of hits, too.

I stop and listen to Rihanna's "Stay" every time it comes on the radio, so I think I can like other Rhianna songs with or without Paul. Only listened once to this one so far, so haven't determined a solid opinion yet, but it didn't turn me off by any means.

Reading this is leading me to dislike this whole collaboration.

I have waited to make a comment hoping it would be better. If Sir Paul was going do some music with real hip hop/rap artist, Dr.Dre and Snoop Dogg, a.k.a Snoop Lion, would be much better. I sincerely mean It as they are legends. I hope a duet with Beyoncé is not next...

If I had the chance to ask Paul a question, I doubt it would be the same as Kanye's: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/paul-mccartney-kanye-west-rihanna-fourfiveseconds-20150124

I wasn't talking about people who like her music anyway. I meant people who never listen to her or Kanye but now like these songs because Paul is on them.

Only Rihanna and Paul McCartney have one thing in common. They're both employed with Sony/ATV Music.

I've seen a few articles mention that he's playing the keyboard, but nothing that says he's NOT playing guitar. I'll assume it's him till I hear otherwise for sure.
From another site... "the guitar was played by David Longstruth as he's taken credit for it on his Twitter "
Thanks for the info. That's discouraging. Actually, David Longstreth, from the group Dirty Projectors. I know a few of their songs (they're alternative, not hip hop in any way).

I find this attitude unbelievably sad.

Maybe the "talkin' trash" line sounds trashy to him? Did you like the nerdy birdie? Who do you think penned the tacky "talkin' trash" line...I sort of like it though, it's funny

I seriously don't think folks here would know these songs even existed if Paul was not involved.

Folks with their heads in the sand would not know, that's true, but some of us keep up with popular music. C'est la vie!
