The official Vevo YouTube video has 140 MILLION views!! Wow. That alone will keep it in the Top 10. Its a shame the song didnt make it to #1. The song reminds me of Summer. Maybe it will rise again with the warmer weather.
This is telling. Looking at some recent Paul videos, "Hope for the Future" has just under 1.3 million views, "Early Days" 637,000, the "New" lyric video 1.4 million, and "Queenie Eye" is the recent record holder with 5.5 million. Sigh...
It's just the reality of the pop landscape. Paul's new solo work isn't played on pop radio anymore, so without that exposure it's hard for his videos to generate views. A lot of people think radio doesn't matter anymore. But if you look at the top 10 songs on top 40 radio right now and then see the number of views for their videos, the correlation is undeniable. It's not a bad thing. Pop music is just a young person's game.

Exactly! OT, but last night on my way home from work, they actually played John's "Nobody Told Me" on a station that plays classic rock and '70's/'80's songs!!
-
What's unusual about that?

They hardly ever play John songs, let alone an obscure (to the general public) one like that off of Milk and Honey!
-
That song was a big hit in '82. The rock station in my city played it for years. It's weird to me that it's considered obscure in some circles. Great song, by the way.

1984. Sorry Audi. My musical nerddom is showing. It was also the last year when John and Paul both had a solo top ten US hit.
-
1982 was the year of... "Tug of War"!... and to a lesser extent, at least commercially "Gone Troppo" by Harrison. '82 was a big year for McCartney, "Ebony and Ivory", a world wide smash hit, and he appeared on Michael Jackson's "Thriller", to become the biggest sellling album of all time, from where they had the duet hit "The Girl Is Mine" More singles from "Tug of War"... "Tug of War" and "Take It Away", not as huge as the duet with Stevie Wonder but still hits I think. McCartney/Jackson had another smash hit in 1983 with "Say Say Say", but "Pipes of Peace" the album I think was McCartney's first not to reach the top ten on Billboard. I've always thought it was because of overkill, "too much" McCartney rather than a bad album. Although maybe not as strong as Tug... but from much of the same 1980-82/83 sessions.

Oops ... I guess that because I am so significantly younger than you, my point of reference isn't as lucid.

On topic it will take 1 to 2 years to see if the track has lasting appeal for me. Also you definitely get to call out my mistakes Audi. I make them all the time so it's easy.

It was a hit here too--back then (1984)-- but I've never heard it since on the radio until Thursday night.

"FourFiveSeconds" has fallen out of the top 10, to #13. It could still hang around on the chart for a while, though. That happens a lot these days, especially songs like this that cross multiple genres.
-
Think I've had enough of the song for now, to a certain extent at least. I play it less. Time will tell if I get hooked on it again or if I was carried away with the hype. I think it's a pretty good song even if the first effect of irresistible catchiness may have faded a bit. It can come back, McCartney songs...

This past weekend on Saturday Night Live they did a sketch where Kenan Thompson gets pissed off at two girls in a tour group at a museum. He starts off saying "I'm four, five seconds from wilding!" http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/dino-bones/2863483
