FourFiveSeconds- new collab. with Rihanna, Kanye and Paul

The list of people involved with this song grows longer. The group Wilson Phillips did background vocals on the song, as Carnie Wilson says here... http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6517041/carnie-wilson-on-wilson-phillips-singing-backup-fourfiveseconds-rihanna

heard this again on the radio last night, loved Paul's intricate spirited guitar playing and thought it was cool he did this--song sounds real good

"FourFiveSeconds" stays at #5 for a third week now on Billboard's Hot 100, after having peaked at #4 before that. It's still at #1 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart.
Paul needs another number one single. Hopefully, this song will have lasting power.
Well, now it lasts for yet another week at #5 on the Hot 100, and at #1 on Hip-Hop / R&B. Over the weekend, I was at an outdoor party with many people in their 50s-80s, and people got excited when the DJ played it and they danced.
Is this the longest amount of time for a single of Paul's to be in the US top ten?
I would guess Ebony & Ivory or Silly Love Songs would be Macca's most enduring Top 10 songs in the U.S.

I don't quite agree: Going by what I hear everyday on soft-rock/pop radio, I'd say "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Let It Be" and "Silly Love Songs" are the remaining perennials. "Ebony & Ivory"? I haven't heard that on the radio in ages.
-
Fortunately, the oldies station in my city tends to think outside the box. And, clearly, somebody there loves true Wings: They play "Helen Wheels" quite a bit. Sadly, they are also the ONLY station in my city to play "New" ... ...once.

I can only play the song on my DVD player, not the music video. Not sure why, if it is a region thing, I have a cheap Matsui DVD player, more like opportunity to watch ("Rockshow"!) than anything I often use.
Got my CD single today.

Correct about the perennials, but we were talking about actual weeks spent in the top 10. So I think it's likely Silly Love Songs or Ebony & Ivory.

Duly noted.

I don't listen to radio, unless I'm in a place where it is turned on. I think "Silly Love Songs" is the only McCartney song I can remember hearing on the radio here in Norway in recent years, "Mull of Kintyre" I must go back to the 80's-90's. But... I'm a record guy, always was.
-
This song has had impressive staying power. After peaking at #4 and then staying at #5 for a few weeks, it slipped to #8 last week, and now to #9 this week in the U.S.
-
This collaboration has added so much talk, hits, controversy that I almost could have hoped for an entire album with Kanye West & Paul McCartney (with guests...). I've read that West's new album is called "So Help Me God" and feature guest appearances by McCartney, but perhaps it should have been as a duo...
-
For YEARS I was mercilessly teased and ribbed for liking McCartney and the Beatles (not bullied, just joked with). But NOW, it seems everyone that joked at me now knows who he is. Many more seem interested in the fact I've seen Paul three times. (I know, some of you have seen him 50 plus times, but for a Sophomore in High School 3 Macca shows is not the norm). This song has at least put him back in the minds of the youth. It's not a bad song, either. Very catchy. Paul will never have a solo number 1 anymore, that's just life, but I'm glad he branched out on this one.
-
Well, McCartney is in the minds of everyone all the time. He fills the stadiums around the globe. it's only a handfull artists who can do that, young or old. I think he could have had more hits, but these days you need hype for it to happen, as with "FourFiveSeconds", which is fortunately also a good song, and not just some crap for the sake of geting publicty. (I guess they did that with another track.
-
I know who Paul McCartney is, and have known for forty years. I do not need to listen to these collaborations to learn about him. So I won't.

But I'll bet you've learned a lot more about Kanye West than you ever expected... or wanted to know!

Certainly. And all that knowledge will surely come in handy in the future!

The official Vevo YouTube video has 140 MILLION views!! Wow. That alone will keep it in the Top 10. Its a shame the song didnt make it to #1. The song reminds me of Summer. Maybe it will rise again with the warmer weather.

This is telling. Looking at some recent Paul videos, "Hope for the Future" has just under 1.3 million views, "Early Days" 637,000, the "New" lyric video 1.4 million, and "Queenie Eye" is the recent record holder with 5.5 million. Sigh...

It's just the reality of the pop landscape. Paul's new solo work isn't played on pop radio anymore, so without that exposure it's hard for his videos to generate views. A lot of people think radio doesn't matter anymore. But if you look at the top 10 songs on top 40 radio right now and then see the number of views for their videos, the correlation is undeniable. It's not a bad thing. Pop music is just a young person's game.
