Why not collaborate with Gilmour or Page instead of Kanye

Many liked the new song. For me it was nothing special. what I didnt like is those comments that says Kanye helped an ex-Beatle to be famous again!!! Didn't Paul knew this is a way far from his name and history??? Paul always like to collaborate with talented musicians, and it is always good to exchange music ideas. But with all names in the world, why did he choose a very different type of music to be in???? what will that song add to him or his name??? Why not do something with Billy Joel or David Gilmour who is always happy to do that with him?? and they are much more in the same level or type of music?? Jimmy page? Elvis Costello?

Paul has worked with Gilmour a few times. Rockestra, Run Devil Run (album and performing band), No More Lonely Nights, We Got Married(???), anyway, been there done that.

Let's not forget that Paul actually does like Kanye's music. He saw him in concert and praised his performance prior to this collaboration taking shape.

Working with Elvis Costello was the last real collaboration that carried any weight. The rest have been leading up to this. Now, as many have said, if he just WANTS to do it, that's cool. But I wish some would stop looking at this like it's some major boost to his career. It isn't.

Because that would be boring as hell. And this genuine collaboration with someone McCartney sees as an artistic peer has nothing to do with trying to be hip and score a hit again. If he is going for that, he would be singing a verse on an instant chart topper of Katy Perry.

?Mostly facetious, yes; obviously, Paul didn't get a career boost out of all the things I mentioned. My point is similar to Bruce's, that Paul gets excited by new talent and new directions in music and he wants to participate. And he has a long history of trying to remain relevant to contemporary audiences ("Spies Like Us"? Hello?). This is nothing new. I mean, he just won a Grammy last year for working with guys decades younger than him on "Cut Me Some Slack." And how about putting Johnny Depp in so many of his recent videos? Is this really all that different from collaborating with Kanye West on a song that's not even rap? Paul's own "Struggle" and "Appreciate" are closer to rap than this!
Kanye's not the nicest guy, it's true, but perhaps this is part of a plan to soften his image, and boost HIS standing. His last couple of projects didn't produce any Top 10 hits. Now it looks like he may have one, and it's a sweet song about family. Awwww!
