Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED
-
I have a very early vinyl copy of Abbey Road, purchased in 1969 not too soon after it came out and Her Majesty is not listed on the cover as it was on later editions of the album. I suppose that makes it an early "ghost track." Back in those days, I was too young to drive and had to wait for when my someone in my family (usually my mother) went to the Mall and I could tag along. No such thing as buying it on the release date!

I agree that ghost-tracks are out-dated, but when it comes to Macca, I'll take all I can get. Nirvana's Nevermind was the first time I'd encountered a true ghost-track: And although I was impressed with the concept, the track, itself, was pointless. I liked what Tom Petty did on the CD-version of Full Moon Fever much better a couple years prior. And, for those who know what I'm talking about, it was very funny.
Tom Petty - Hello CD listeners [1989]:
Nice! There was a group called Big Daddy that covered "Sgt. Pepper" in all '50s musical styles, and at the end of the CD, after "A Day In The Life" (which ends with Buddy Holly's plane crash), there's a quiet hidden track of backwards speech. I put it on a tape and turned it around, and it's a voice saying, "Don't you have anything better to do?" But I agree, I'll take whatever Paul gives us!

My vinyl copy (also purchased soon after its release in 1969) also does not have Her Majesty listed. I think we're about the same age (I was 14 in '69)

The concept of a "hidden" track is stupid. It is a track. So, separate it! It really messed up "Anyway" on Chaos!
Hi Olen! We get around, don't we? Where can play Tenuous Links ? I agree with your post btw.
Yeah...that was fun!

"Well, she was just fourteen if you know what I mean " you say? My age as well in 1969!

I really like the Dan Flavin artwork, is that definitely going to be the album cover? Earlier in the Summer or maybe even Spring Stella had a photo or two of his artwork posted online. I love those two colours that were chosen. It seems very Buddhist to me, but it probably has nothing to do with Buddhist robes... It's very Zen to me!

Indeed, it was absolutely not listed on the original vinyl release, and surprised the hell out of everyone the first time we played the album!

OK, so it's not available on Target's site yet, but I've seen the cover with the sticker for Target's version of the album. Not the news we were hoping for, I'm afraid. Here's the new rundown: Standard edition: Has the basic 12 tracks, plus hidden track: Scared Target exclusive: Has the basic 12 tracks, plus the hidden track, plus DVD with 22-minute documentary "A Rendez-vous with Paul McCartney" about his Canadian tour this year Best Buy exclusive: Has the basic 12 tracks, plus the hidden track, plus photo cards and a badge Japanese edition: Has the basic 12 tracks Plus 3 bonus tracks: Turned Out, Get Me Out Of Here, Struggle Plus hidden track: Scared All other deluxe versions (US, UK, iTunes, etc.): the basic 12 tracks Plus 2 bonus tracks: Turned Out, Get Me Out Of Here Plus hidden track: Scared Vinyl LP: the basic 12 tracks (no other info known for sure; perhaps the hidden track, perhaps a download card?) By the way, I'm not seeing anything on Walmart's site that says they have their own particular exclusive version, just the basic deluxe as far as I can tell. Anyone have any different info on this?

I think both Best Buy and Target Exclusive Deluxe have 14 tracks (include Turned Out, and Get Me Out Of Here). They have a Blue-Pink covers. Scared is a hidden track on all CDs. The dilemma is which extra do you shell out for: A DVD, postcards and badge, or Extra Bonus Song? I'm for paying the import fee and getting an extra song, but I want the DVD also. I think the badge in the Best Buy package probably says "Man, are we Suckers!!!" Just give us one DELUXE version! With everything! Something for all us die-hard fans out here! Podgie (Maybe we should start a protest!) Monkey

All I've seen for Target and Best Buy are the sticker, and neither one mentions bonus tracks. You may be right about the basic two bonus tracks, but I'm waiting to see an actual track listing on their sites. The Target sticker for its Elton John exclusive specifically mentions the bonus tracks for that one.

I just watched that Canadian interview this morning on DVD. A friend put together some Out There clips.

Ugh..its KOTB all over again. Don't think i'm hopeful for BEST BUY to come through with anything above the rest; may be Target and Walmart. Although I'd love to have the DVD, of his current tour, I don't personally find it pertinent to the album's substance. If the DVD and bonus tracks are included I'm all Target's business. May be getting it at Walmart afterall. I wouldn't blame Paul but I certainly blame HEAR music for this nonsense.

Here is the interview that is on the DVD

I can't remember when they started to produce the LP covers with Her Majesty listed, I seem to recall seeing it within the first year or so of its release.

Her Majesty is not listed on the 2012 vinyl remaster either. Not on the cover or the LP label.

Someone on ebay is taking orders for the the Target edition of New that includes the interview disc, photo shows the cover with the Target sticker. I am not sure how they got this image unless they did it themselves as the Target website doesn't have this. Also 12 tracks listed, with Turned Out and Get Me Out of Here not included. Elsewhere, someone else is selling what appears to be a non-Target Deluxe edition with those those extra songs.

Yes, I saw that, so for now I'm assuming there are no bonus tracks on the Target one.

My son works at Target. I'll have him check.

OK, now we have some "NEW" cover artwork possibly Also Scared has been changed to Struggle according to this article, hope that doesn't mess up the printing of all of those album covers... I love all of the colours on these different artwork photos, but I think the original one is probably the happiest colours. I also love the dark blue and dark pink one!
I am sooooo excited for this album to come out already!
