Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED
-
Into my second listen, and just some random observations: *Too early for me to play the compared to any previous albums, I have to live with it awhile before I can even begin to attempt to take on that challenge. *Save Us is a great opening track, growing on me fast. *No such growth time required for Queenie Eye, this is just an incredible wonderful song in a league by itself on this album and possibly the best song he has done in this century. Behind it, I place Everybody Out There as my number two favorite on this album. *Nice idea following Early Days with New, you can from his distant past to the present. Early Days is very moving and I think of my own early days that were, of course, quite obscure compared to his but always with fondness. *Some of the later songs could pass for leftovers from Electric Arguments, especially Appreciate and Road. *Turned Out is a nice little hot rocker, catchy opening guitar riff. *Get Me Out of Here--The guitar work at the opening of this bluesy number reminds me of a Led Zeppelin song on Led Zeppelin III. It's the distinctive tenor of the guitar. Maybe I will come up with the name and edit it in. Scared is a very nice hidden track at the end. The only Paul piano ballad included, very nice.

Have not listened to it in it entirety. I just heard "NEW" and it made me feel comfortable and safe, it was familiar and heart-warming...vintage Paul. I've been a "Paul" girl since the 60's. Is the new album out in stores today? Thanks!!!
It is indeed! It's superb, go get it!

2nd evening with this album and loving it still. I'm not exclusively listening to this as I don't wish to lose the feeling when you buy and treasure a new album for those first few days. SO i have been listening to another new album to even it out somewhat (Korn's The Paradigm SHift- if your interested. Rather different). But it is such a fine album! I know it's early days still but this must rank up there with some of his finest solo material. I also hope he plays a large chunk of it live. These songs are brilliant and it makes a statement of serious intent when a artists really does work the new material into the set. Listening to this, I can't believe it's the same man who 50 years previously as a very young man was on Please Please Me album. What a lifetime!

Does the Deluxe version at Best Buy and Target have the 14 track list?

21st Century Paul:
Well, I've just listened to the album for the first time in youtube.com And I've been so dissapointed that I haven't listened to it much time really... I guess is just a first impression and when I listen to it several times I will really "get it", as usual. Anyway it has been a shocking first listen to me. It didn't seem like it was Paul McCartney, I expected something else... I didn't like the sound... I didn't like a thing really. But it's possible that I listen to it a couple of times more and then I'll post here I think it is his best album ever. But now, I'm just shocked and confused.
You are definitely in the minority!

I had a similar reaction, though not shocked and confused! More like, "I wish it sounded more like McCartney."

It looks like I don't have "Scared." I have the 14 tracks, as listed on the packaging + one "Unknown" track. Did I miss something?

Did you wait about 20 seconds after the final "official" track played? That's when it starts.

I love Paul and his music as much as anyone but I have to say his new album is rubbish. It has one OK song which is the title track. His singing is atrocious as well. His songwriting has been mostly poor since Tug Of War so I think it's time for Paul to retire disgracefully, I'm sure one and a half billion pounds will last him. Yesterday all his troubles seemed so far away.

Man I respectfully disagree, I think this album is amazing.

"Mostly poor / Since 'Tug of War'" Has a nice cadence to it, but I think most people here would disagree with your assessment.

I can see your point, to a degree. I am not sure I agree that his songwriting has been poor since 1982, but I do find some want on most LPs since then. NEW is still pretty new, but I, like you, am underwhelmed.
-
As I said I love Paul and I'm certainly not dissing him but I'd like to see him call it a day.
-
He clearly has no intention of quitting anytime soon.
-
I'm afraid you're in the minority here Plastic Mac. Most of us love the entire album.

Fantastic album!
