Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED
-
Back from an early morning run to Target, purchased the Deluxe edition with the Rendevous DVD for $16.99, regular edition doesn't come with the DVD. Numerous copies of both there, hopefully they will all sell today. Now to listen!

Just got the NEW album, and what a ride it is! Macca proves his staying power at the top of the hit-makers with no doubt whatsoever. After seeing him LIVE 2 months ago, this is just the fix us super-fans need. Headed on a road trip this weekend, and this will be our companion. Thank you Paul for the continued soundtrack to our lives! Ian Shanley

I actually have a FYE near where I work, and stopped by the other evening. I pre-ordered the standard version (I'll also be getting the Japanese and Best Buy exclusives), and already got the cube. Was so excited since I didn't think I'd be getting it until Tuesday with the album! I'm wondering if it was an accident and I wasn't supposed to have it yet. Oh well There is also a Best Buy nearby and I'l be picking the album there on my lunch break, but have to wait to listen to it until later in the evening when I get home from work. It's gonna kill me to wait! I'm very happy to have gotten the cube and also have an affinity for color-changing little do-dads, already have a few of the battery operated tea lights as well as some nightlights. The one I have differs from the promo pics I saw earlier in this thread, as it only has the NEW logo and Paul's signature on one side. Or maybe there are different versions 'out there'...
Very cool that you got the cube already! I'm traveling & trying to map my trip by where the FYE locations are. : (not working to well though)
I really hope you're able to get one! The cube is 3x3 and has different settings...it can be changed to each individual color and there are two different speeds for color rotation. Here are the ads that were in the Best Buy and Target Sunday paper inserts, you can see one of the postcards and what I think is the 'art laminate'
I'm sitting in a New Mexico hotel waited for the FYE store to open. They have them...checked last night. These stores are very hard to find. Hope to score a couple. Then off to Best Buy. THEN we can drive home.

Both deluxe and regulars at Target in abundance but only the Deluxe had the DVD, which is the opposite of what their website was saying in advance of the release.

welcome Ian Shanley yes, NEW is great isn't it?
-
I've been listening to the album constantly since yesterday, probably gone through it 4 times in total (so far) and I absolutely love it. It's a great, great album, not only in terms of songwriting, but in the variety of styles and sounds. Yet even with all of the differences and different producers, it sounds very cohesive as a whole. The man has still got it, and in spades!
-
haven't heard "New" yet, but "I've got a feeling" I'll totally agree when I finally do
-
It truly is, especially SAVE US-my opinion.
-
Well, I've just listened to the album for the first time in youtube.com And I've been so dissapointed that I haven't listened to it much time really... I guess is just a first impression and when I listen to it several times I will really "get it", as usual. Anyway it has been a shocking first listen to me. It didn't seem like it was Paul McCartney, I expected something else... I didn't like the sound... I didn't like a thing really. But it's possible that I listen to it a couple of times more and then I'll post here I think it is his best album ever. But now, I'm just shocked and confused.
-
Pic of the postcards and art laminate which came in the Best Buy exclusive. The other side of the laminate has the pink/orange NEW cover as well as Paul's signature logo. Also, slight mixup with the work schedule means I get to listen to the album now and not have to wait until later!

On my second listen through now and I have to agree with you. Not what I expected. The 3 songs I had listened to beforehand, "New," "Save Us," and "Everybody Out There" I liked OK, but am hoping that as I keep listening to it the rest will grow on me. Just doesn't feel as melodic to me as some of his past work. I think I prefer "Memory Almost Full" to this album.

I don't understand how you can listen to NEW and decide that you do not like it. Listen again, it is a spectacular outing from Macca. He's been doing this for 5 decades, and has only gotten better with time. Ian Shanley

Went to FYE and got the standard CD and the light cube. The cube is pretty cool! For the record (so to speak), the cube goes through several settings as you press the bottom button: 1) a crazy multi-colored strobe (be prepared!) 2) glowing color that gradually changes through a whole rainbow of solid colors 3) solid lavender color 4) flashing red light 5) flashing green light 6) flashing blue light Then I went to Target and got their exclusive CD. Seems like it's just the regular deluxe CD with a slightly smaller "New" sleeve (with the DVD) plastered on the front, inside the plastic. Take off the plastic, and the DVD sleeve is glued on with that removable rubber-cement-like stuff. I pulled it off carefully and cleanly and rolled the rubber cement off of it. One note about Target: they don't seem to be selling the regular deluxe, but the standard version there has a different sticker on the front than elsewhere (picture of Paul on the sticker). Elsewhere it's a clear sticker with the title, etc. Regular CD is gatefold with a long message from Paul inside, and the booklet has lyrics, credits, and 8 pages of black and white photos from the sessions (one per page, very nice). The deluxe CD is trifold with all the same things (plus an alternate version of the front cover with the bulbs' colors switched), but 12 pages of photos, and get this: the standard CD has one photo that's not in the deluxe: a photo of Paul with his acoustic guitar playing to a youngish man (best guess is Paul Epworth, by the hair and stature, but perhaps Mark Ronson) sitting at a piano with his back to the camera. Waiting to listen when I can somehow coordinate this with my partner who's in LA. I uploaded everything to my Amazon Cloud Player and we'll see if he can access it.

Thanks! Does it have the bonus tracks?

Have not listened to it in it entirety. I just heard "NEW" and it made me feel comfortable and safe, it was familiar and heart-warming...vintage Paul. I've been a "Paul" girl since the 60's. Is the new album out in stores today? Thanks!!!
