"Love and Mercy" Paul quoted in Brian Wilson film

I want to see this, but I'll probably wait until I have the DVD.

Bruce M, you never said what was "brilliant, brilliant ****ing at the end!"
I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you're talking about. I never said anything that was censored. In the headline of the thread the system kept replacing the endquote after "mercy" with the symbol &Q. The Mods fixed it by rearranging the wording of the title.
Oh dear. I have no clue. I did not use any naughty words and didn't even notice this. I'm baffled. Someone's filtering software is way overzealous

Hi Bruce, The word in question is f i l m m a k i n g. I have no idea why this word is being auto-censored. I have edited the word in your original post accordingly. Anita

I like the fact that this site is less censored than a lot of others, but the auto censor here is crazy.
-
Yeah, maybe it thought you wrote lovemaking!
-
Well this is bizarre. I just tried to write another post expressing surprise that autocensor bleeped that word, and yet again film - making (when typed as one word) got censored. This is just wacky.

Unless you used "Baz Luhrmann" in the same sentence as "film making" I can see no reason it would be censored or automatically rejected. Makes no sense.

George Harrison was into f***king. That's why he started HandMade F***s. He f*** Monty Python. He f*** Neil Jordan. He even f*** Madonna.

I hope so! It's excellent.

The oft-quoted Paul line about "God Only Knows" being the greatest song ever written is quoted in the new movie biography of Brian Wilson, "Love and Mercy," as is the fact that "Rubber Soul" inspired Brian to make "Pet Sounds." The movie, by the way, is extraordinary. Calling it a biography doesn't begin to do it justice. Great performances and brilliant, brilliant f i l m m a k i n g that literally had me choking up at the end. This is one that music fans really, really must see.
I agree wonderful movie. Liked Brian Wilson being played by two different since the focus of the movie is two periods of time years apart. Brian Wilson is a close 2nd IMO to Lennon-McCartney songwriting team.

At first, reading about this movie, I complained about John Cusack not resembling Brian Wilson, wondered why he was chosen for the part, but when I saw the excellent movie, Cusack captured Wilson's essence so well that I forgot he doesn't look like him. I suggest you see "Get On Up" another recent bio pic, about James Brown. It's as good as "Love and Mercy."

Didn't Paul Mc. call "God Only Knows" the "greatest LOVE song ever written" or his favorite one ever written, not the "greatest song." (?)

In 1978, Carl Wilson told me that Brian wrote that song in 15 minutes (I told him it was my favorite Beach Boys song) Never got to meet Brian, but met all the other guys. Me and Mike Love:

Quite right, Susy. Paul said it was his favorite song ever written, not the greatest.

Here's an extensive interview with Paul about the Beach Boys, in which he discusses God Only Knows http://albumlinernotes.com/Paul_McCartney_Comments.html
