Looking back at Paul's post-Wings albums of original songs (ie this excludes, compilations, live albums, cover albums, collaborative projects etc), we have: McCartney II (1980) [ 2 year gap ) Tug Of War (1982) [ 1 year gap ] Pipes Of Peace (1983) [ 3 year gap ] Press To Play (1986) [ 3 year gap ] Flowers In The Dirt (1989) [ 4 year gap ] Off The Ground (1993) [ 4 year gap ] Flaming Pie (1997) [ 4 year gap ] Driving Rain (2001) [ 4 year gap ] Chaos And Creation In The Backyard (2005) [ 2 year gap ] Memory Almost Full (2007) [ 6 year gap ] New (2013). In the last twenty plus years, there have been mainly 4 year gaps between albums as well as a couple of 6 year gaps. The only encouraging sign is the 2 year gap between Chaos & Memory but judging by past form, I'm not expecting a 'solo' album of new material from Paul until 2017. .............which is only about 56 weeks away.
"The only encouraging sign is the 2 year gap between Chaos & Memory" The main reason for that is he already started working on "Memory" with David Kahn and then stopped it to work with Nigel Godrich on what was to become CHAOS. After CHAOS was completed, there was already a bunch of songs done for "Memory" so it did not take as long to finish.

Both Broad Street and RDR contain new songs written by Paul. They're part of his catalog. You can't just leave them out.
I can...and have.
good answer to a good decision
RDR is one of Paul's best albums, even if it is mostly covers.
I think it is one of his best vocal performances ever, Mr. McCartney does 50's rock better than anyone IMO.

It'd be a nice thing if Paul sprung another Fireman album on us, without notice. Just sayin'.

And he will be 75. That would be cool!
Well, if Adele can call her new album 25 then I guess Paul could rightly call his next album 75?
Not if he's already started one....say several years or decades ago. Adele isn't 25 now.....she was when she started the album. Paul could follow that logic. He's probably got stuff he recorded decades ago......so....

See the Dreams thread. I had a dream this morning and at one point I told Paul that people keep asking when he's going to do something new, but they don't realize he is always working on something. He said "Yeah!" and started rattling off all the stuff he is working on, but the only one I caught was about Rupert the frog!

Are you just messing with me again? The title of this thread is about Paul's new music.

He reached retirement age.

After two years with hardly any new music, what can we expect in 2016? Has Paul been into the recording studio recently? When can we expect the release of the High in the Clouds-animation, which apparently includes a collaboration with Lady Gaga? Or is the Flowers in the Dirt-remaster the only release next year? Anyone any thoughts? Or inside info?
I did hear that he spent a good part of 2 weeks in the studio in December but what he was working on, God only knows!

LOL, well he had a bit of help during those years! Fast forward to 2016, and quote George Harrison's Wrack My Brain: "All dried up - I'm all dried up..."

That sure hasn't stopped him from touring. (thank goodness)
