I have a serious problem. Please help! I have loaded my Beatles & solo music unto a portable music device but there is so much Macca (due to the size of his discography that when I hit shuffle, things get a bit unbalanced. So here is what I would like to do. I would like to reduce the McCartney LP's to about the same amount of discs that were included in the Beatles stereo box (which is about 16 discs with past masters and MMT). Which albums would you include in such a box set. I know there would be some obvious choices like Ram and Band on the Run, but I would like to get a consensus of essential McCartney albums (not essential tracks).

In addition to Ram and Band on the Run, I would include these for sure: McCartney Tug of War Flowers in the Dirt Flaming Pie Chaos and Creation in the Backyard Memory Almost Full

Don't forget Red Rose Speedway, Venus and Mars, and London Town. These are classic Wings albums and any Macca collection would be incomplete without them.

Thanks these are all wonderful albums. Another consideration is the underrated Back to the Egg, which is just packed with deeper cuts and gems.

Good selection however; I would axe Back to the Egg & Wild Life for McCartney II & Red Rose Speedway

Thanks, I'm beginning to see a pattern of albums. Although I agree to axe Wild Life, I could not part with Back to the Egg. I can do without Driving Rain, as there is a great string of Paul albums after Anthology to the present that include FlamingPie, Chaos, Memory and New. So let's see, based on these observations: 1. McCartney 2. Ram 3. Red Rose Speedway 4. Band on the Run 5. Venus & Mars 6. At the Speed of Sound 7. London Town 8. Back to the Egg 9. Tug of War 10. McCartney II 11. Flowers in the Dirt 12. Flaming Pie 13. Chaos & Creation 14. Memory Almost Full 15. Electric Arguments 16. New (There is a part of me that would have a type of McCartney Pastmasters to gather some representative tracks from the obvious omissions. To add such a compilation, I would have to excise London Town and Electric Arguments--this is a painful and surgical excision) I have added these albums to my Beatles and solo tracks to my playlists for long drives and now the shuffle is perfect. Thanks for the input.
