Pure McCartney

I'm sure everyone has their own favorites to add to Pure McCartney - anyway, this would be my suggestion for a fifth disc: DISC 5: 1. My Brave Face 2. No Other Baby 3. Hope of Deliverance 4. C Moon 5. So Bad 6. Wild Life 7. Put It There 8. London Town 9. Run Devil Run 10. We Got Married 11. Somebody Who Cares 12. Once Upon a Long Ago 13. What It Is 14. Distractions 15. Your Loving Flame 16. Back on My Feet 17. Bluebird 18. Take It Away 19. Getting Closer 20. Tomorrow 21. Your Way 22. C'Mon People
Perhaps a Pure McCartney 2 set ( 2 or 4 discs option) will be released some time in the future. There is obviously no shortage of material especially from the neglected Off The Ground / Flowers In The Dirt albums as people have noted plus some real rarities from the MPL vaults. I have been a little disappointed at what's been dished up on the bonus tracks discs in the deluxe versions in the remaster series.
Correction to my post : Winedark Open Sea is from Off The Ground and is on 4 CD version. More I think about it why such a strong album like Flowers In The Dirt is totally neglected is perplexing. I know people say it is next up for remaster reissue but one or two tracks surely wouldn't of mattered. I guess it would of meant bumping something else (like Bip Bop for instance : ) and Paul obviously was happy with final selections and I guess that's the end of the matter. Unless there is another Pure McCartney compilation set planned for the future. Who knows ???

I love Bip Bop but I associate it with the fantastic pre concert film from the 1993 tour. It's a only a sort clip which starts at 2.33 but it runs into Maybe I'm Amazed which has really lovely, personal films and photos of the McCartney family. I listened to both songs a lot after that concert, not having been a huge fan of either beforehand. So may be it does have sentimental memories for Paul. I absolutely love the opening shots of Paul from the film. They still send goosebumps down me nearly 23 years on!

So, no Girls School??? But Bip Bop is on this??? And Paul wonders why he has a hard time being taken seriously sometimes as a real rock n roller.
While we could argue all day of what should or should not been included. Bip Bop is the only track that really had me gobsmacked. If you wanted something from Wild Life surely the brilliant Some People Never Know or Dear Friend or even Tomorrow should of been included instead. This aside anyway I think the package as a whole is pretty good as a wide ranging cross section of Paul''s work.
I agree. I don't hate Bip Bop, just like other songs on the LP better.
Bip Bop seems to be one of those tracks that Paul just really likes, for reasons that leave most sentient beings shaking our heads.
Perhaps there are some sweet sweet memories that go with the song? If you haven't seen it, a very touching family moment...

does anyone remember another album titled "Pure McCartney" that was released some years back features live performances of Macca songs, just thought the title has already been used and if anyone picked up on this?

Yes, it was by another guy, Tim Christensen. I think it's still available on Amazon. Here is a video:

That will definitely cause some confusion. I think all of this album is on Youtube and it is a live concert of Christensen and his band covering the entirety of Ram, the kind of thing all of us would love to hear Paul actually do. The album cover mimics the Ram cover as well.

Yikes. A couple comments at that YouTube vid are not so kind.

When you say "singles" does that include their b-sides? Like a remastered I Lie Around?

Good to see Paul filling his new setlist with tracks from 'Pure McCartney'...... :

Some glaring mistakes on the 4CD collection. I know McCartney might be the most difficult artist to have a wide retrospective on since there are so many varied opinions on what is a "good" McCartney song. But still: 1). 'Bip Bop' & 'Girlfriend'?? Seriously? They would show up on most Macca fans' list of the worst Macca songs. 2). No songs from Flowers?? I would personally add 'My Brace Face', 'This One', and 'You Want Her Too' - all top grade Macca melodies & creativity from the late 80s. 3). 8 songs from 'Flaming Pie'!! Need better balance. Also, 'Somedays' is imo the best song on the album & its not one of the 8! 4). For God sakes, at least put the songs in chronological order, just to have some structure. It would also show that songs Paul has written recently holds up against his 70s work. 5). He should have a single CD (at least) of the more obscure stuff to appease Macca fans - movie songs, collaborations, etc. How about the demo version of 'Veronica', for example. Anyway, just my thoughts. I agree with others that I dont think this will sell well. Paul's entire career has been plagued by poor Marketing & the trend continues...

I agree with everything...except I like "Girlfriend." It's lightweight for sure, but is a catchy song with a nice melody.

I adore 'Girlfriend'

Girlfriend is possibly my least favorite song of all time - from any artist.

I meant that poster's song list, Hailey, I so hoped it was for real but I guess it isn't, it's just what that poster "Love is Paul" would like and I love the choices.
