Girls School
-
Was at a London venue last night, and before the bands came on, the DJ was playing mainly 60's and 70's vinyl. Girls School came on and sounded INCREDIBLE over the PA system!! I went up to him and told him it was my favourite all time B-Side. He got really excited as he thought no one else knew about it The fact that it's (coupled with Kintyre) the biggest selling non charity single in the UK, a good few people must know it, but perhaps only 'SECRETLY' (?), as few people seem to discuss it....
-
I suppose the subject matter is a little touchy to discuss openly. Hardly could be much different from the A-side! Good tune, though.

A collection of porn references in song! Great rocker!!!

Very strange lyrics! http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Girls'-School-lyrics-Paul-McCartney/0E38BE1DFD02919948257A2A0083B615
With those lyrics I doubt he'll be adding that one to the show anytime soon.

I think adding Girls School to the set would be fantastic. It would certainly be part of my dream setlist.

I would love it too!
-
It should have been on WINGSPAN!! Like alot of great WINGS' Tunes!!
-
It's on the McCartney Collection remastered London Town CD from 1993, along with Mull. London Town will be a great one for the Archive Collection...looking forward to that in about 5 years or so!
-
I've always thought Girls School was okay but not special, and that Capitol blundered badly by promoting it in the U.S. instead of really pushing Mull of Kintyre.

Dirty smile.

I discovered the song not too long ago, and I like it. I think the tv series WKRP ripped it off for their closing credits. Anyway, with lines like "oriental princess," it'll never get played live today. The PC-Police will be all over that.

Really love this one! It was released in The Netherlands as double A-side single, together with Mull. It got a lot of airplay in those days. I remembered it reached no 1 in the Dutch charts and the radio dj's prefered playing Girls School instead of Mull. Still got that single on vinyl.

Very true Audi. You know, I never thought about the WKRP possible connection until now. Used to love that show as a kid............

think it will be played again not offensive compared to others out there. great to hear it again got my toes tapping.

Girls School was a big hit in America - Top 40. Fit perfectly with the New Wave sound that was emerging. To be honest, I dont ever remember hearing Mull played on the U.S. radio. Also, not sure why big hits like Girls School & Listen to What the Man Said were never put on the Wings Greatest hits album. Macca has never been very good at promotion or picking the right singles - especially here in the States!

Funny, but I have no memory of Girls School being on the radio and being a hit! I was 22 years old and in Atlanta. Didn't buy the single until 1993 when I went to Virgin records in London!
