I have been having so many ups and downs recently. Yesterday I felt horrible, but the second I just throw on my headphones and put Paul on...I automatically feel better. And even today I felt a little down, but now Im currently at the library watching concert videos of Paul on youtube...and I feel so much better and relaxed. I have tried listening to other musicians and failed, but no other musician seems to compare to Paul in my book. So Im kinda bewildered with this? Why can't I seem to get myself to try to have other musicians out there make me feel so bright and cheerful? Seems like only Paul can do this for me...I mean I do like other musicians, but I listen to Paul more than any other musician out there. ops: ops: ops: ops: ops: ops: ops:

I second that emotion! The only one that temporarily usurped Paul was Tom Jones, who I was crazy about from age 14 to 27 (1969 to 1982) I still kept up with the Beatles and Paul, bought records and saw him in concert in 1976, so it's not like I forgot about him!

I know right Maybe it's because Paul was my first love and the first musician I came across in the Beatles...I mean so many of Paul's songs describe me well and often fits my mood too. None of the other musicians have done that I cannot relate to their song writing well maybe a couple of Tom Petty's songs I can relate to, but still Paul wins in that department! I mean when I try to listen to another musician for awhile and then Im like okay I had enough of that Im going back to Paul he's more my style!

One big factor in making him "different" is that he was in the world's very first super group, the first super star rock band, and all that--the Beatles blazed the path

__________________________________________________ Nancy, There you go again...getting me laughing!! _______________________________________ Maccafangirl30 Don't feel bad. I often wonder why my mind gets so fixated about Paul too. After all, he is not part of my family. And if you are about 30, let me just make a prediction. It probably won't go away anytime soon. If I'm correct, I am more than twice your age and I'm still waiting for it to happen. With me a lot of it is what SusyLuvsPaul said. Paul and the Beatles were the first group that hit me straight on from a music point of view. I had heard songs that I liked (e.g. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis, Everly Brothers etc) but I never had that connection to the artist. No doubt I was too young at the time. But once the Beatles exploded, it definitely happened. I was a sophomore in high school and very shy. In retrospect, my personality had quite a bit to do with becoming such a fan of this far off group (geographically) I would never meet. It was not like I was popular in school or a budding sports star that would keep my mind on other things rather than my fixation on music. I did go through my other music phases...Motown artists, Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, other British Invasion artists etc. but I was seriously always hooked on Paul. Probably because he was the first but also because I always found his music (and the Beatles as a whole) the most interesting. They always seemed to be the most innovative. Everybody else seemed to follow their lead although there was fabulous music from about 1964 to 1975. Greatest period of popular music in my opinion. Hope this gives you more perspective relative to your own fixation. As Paul says later in one of his greatest songs...there's nothing wrong with that (Silly Love Songs).

Like BJ, I am quite a bit older than you and will add my two cents - lol. The first time I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Paul was my favorite. I just loved the voice and thought it was cool they he played bass left handed. As years passed, the thing I continued to love about him was how incredibly talented he is in all phases of music. I can't think of any other rock superstar who plays as many instruments as Paul which is shown on some of his solo records like "McCartney", CHAOS etc. His voice in his prime was just incredible, he could belt out rockers like "Helter Skelter" and in the next moment sing a beautiful ballad like "Yesterday", "Little Willow" etc. Finally, the music he writes is usually very upbeat and naturally puts you in a good mood.

                    Maybe I'm amazed !!

Everything with Paul starts with melody. Listen to other world-class bass players talk about Paul, & they mention his melodic bass playing as the major influence. Of course, add piano & guitar to his other instruments with regards to melodic genius. Then, he could do all this in different genres of music - pop, rock, ballads, electronic/experimental. There will never be another McCartney in terms of musicianship.

I think it's the way he put our fellings in a very lovely melody. He is like a mirror, you can listen to your heart or your mind in every single word and you can express yourself through his songs.

                                  Please, come back soon!!!!

Wow all very good reasons why Paul is so different from other musians. 1. His songwriting 2. His melodies 3. His voice 4. His physical appearance such as his eyes and boyish look 5. And well because he is Paul McCartney If any one can think of or share their experience why Paul is so different from other musians please share. My friends in the past have always complained to me " Why don't you listen to other music Broaden your horizans." Well I have tried and failed!!!!! That is why I was thinking what the heck is wrong with me why can't I listen to other musicians as much as I do with Paul? Maybe I'm just too choosy with music or something. So I pretty much gave up in trying to listen to other bands. Paul is my only true love when it comes to music. No matter how hard I try to listen to other musicians I always run right back to Paul. I cannot help myself!!!! ops: I am completely in love with his music!

Paul was my first favorite musician, his songs and message are very heart centered. Paul's music makes me happier/smilier than another musician. His music, more than any other musician, lifts me up on a beautiful current of sound. Paul McCartney is such a lovely, beautiful, joyful soul...
