KOTB charting

Macsback, I'm absolutely thrilled to be old hat and boring, as long as McCartney continues to produce albums this good, which he has been doing (except for the Fireman) every since Flowers In The Dirt! Call me whatever, but Kisses is one of Paul McCartney's absolute best albums! It's still #1 on Billboards jazz chart!

You can't knock The Fireman! The Fireman albums are AWESOME
-
Darth_McCartney, if you like the Fireman that's great, it's just not my cup of tea, I don't like that direction from McCartney!

EA totally should have been a McCartney album & LHM doesn't like it?

LHM Now we're getting somewhere, Electric Arguments is up there with all the great albums McCartney's brought out, its a absolute classic unlike your over-bloated take on KOTB, i'm glad we agree on that particular point, all is not lost though.. As a show of goodwill towards you my fellow Macca fan and as a act of friendship, I listened to some more Jazz music, my second opinion is a lot worse than my first, although Jazz DOES have some promising players, I find for the most its full of pretentious musicians who are trying to be something there are most certainly not. Although i don't agree with you that KOTB is one of Paul McCartney's absolute best albums! I concede (as I've always said) it has its moments!! now that I've took the time to compare KOTB with other Jazz albums, even I've got to admit KOTB is the greatest Jazz album ever made. My conclusion is, Paul McCartney is not only the greatest singer, songwriter, musician etc, who has ever lived, he can now add to that list by being the greatest Jazz artist!!

Michelley:
KOTB benefited from timing (it's Paul's first album in awhile) and from the fact that his steady touring for the past 3 years has put him in the public eye for his music (rather than for his divorce, which was the case when EA came out.). Plus it got a big push by him being on the Grammy's and being sold in Starbucks and Target. The iTunes promotion also helped. And the huge hullabaloo on Twitter over the title gave the album a massive amount of free publicity.
very well said.

although i don't think KOTB is out of this world, I have to agree with LHM's opinion that KOTB may well give Jazz artists the kick up the arse they need to do better, maybe then Jazz will drag itself out of the 1950's and back to the top table, is it to late? i can't answer that question, but with Paul McCartney pulling out all the stops to help Jazz recover, anything can happen

Good point. But it could just be too late for jazz now. The market's just not there for it anymore.

I don't know so much Darth, if Jazz could get out of the market places and set simple goals at first by playing in church halls, it might, i say might, get back to the days when it ruled the pubs and clubs all over the world. I repeat, with Macca now at the forefront of Jazz the sky is the limit and with so many paying customers Jazz artist could well make a nice living if SKY make a major push for more subscribers.

Again just have to say I am amazed at how well it has charted given the type of project it is. I thought it would have debuted at #25 instead of #5. Top 20 is still respectable. Also I saw the physical vs digital debate a few posts back. Put me down as prefering a physical copy any day. Digitial (I pod, etc....) is fine, but I prefer to have something tangible when it comes to a favorite artist.

first week sales will almost always give Macca a top 10 hit

One of my issues with digital is it's in my computer...and computers don't last forever where a physical format can be played on different machines.

I don't know what some of you are talking about, I know jazz artist that are doing absolutely wonderful! Their following is very strong and their album sales are strong, and they constantly play festivals all over the world, so I'd say the state of jazz is just fine! Artist Like... Kirk Whalum Jeff Loeber - Who used my brother as his bassist for one of his German tours. Boney James Brian Culbertson RIP -Waymon Tisdale - His last album titled The Funk Album just may be his very best! Paul Jackson Jr. Etc These jazz artist are doing just fine, and their market is very strong! Macsback, I think you misunderstood, I do not like Electric Arguments or any of the other Fireman albums! Although I must admit I do like McCartney's live performance of the songs Highway and Sing The Changes from EA.

I don't like chicken korma but if i was a few months into a nuclear holocaust and starving i would eat one, its all about giving something a chance albeit i would have only gave the korma a chance out of survival. this Jeff Loeber dude sounds like a right nasty piece of work, what the hell happened, did he not pay your brother? once again we've found more common ground, you by saying you like a few fireman songs and me by not only admitting i would eat korma but also liking at least 6 of the songs on KOTB. I'm still not convinced the state of Jazz is fine, its certainly heading in the right direction if it manages to keep Paul on-board, sadly i can't see this upsurge continuing because Paul tends to help out failing music genres before moving back to his roots. in the case of classical, ballet and now Jazz, he came, he saw, he conquered and left.
-
Once again, I don't know what you're talking about, Jazz is not a failing genre, it's doing just fine! I guess you can convince yourself of anything, and yes Jeff Loeber did pay my brother!
