This might have been said somewhere in the twenty-one pages but, like the great Nick Lowe said, "cruel to be kind, in the right measure" There is a difference between criticizing and dissing. I haven't seen any dissing from members on here. I have only seen members expressing their concern with Paul's voice, hardly dissing. If you love someone you tell them the truth, you don't hurt them when you say it, but you tell them like it is.
I posted something eerily similar in one of the (many) locked threads recently: "If you truly love someone, you're honest with that person. Paul doesn't need people telling him he's wonderful. He's gotten that for years now. Decades. What he needs is people who truly care about him telling him what they think. He doesn't have to agree with it, but anyone not telling him what they feel is the truth doesn't truly love him at all." Glad a few of us are thinking along the same lines.
Quite right, years ago my Grandad who loved driving, started to do very dodgy things whilst behind the wheel, our solution was to tell him the game was up, & luckily he saw our advice was for his ( & others ! ) best interest. Now I know singing badly aint gonna kill anyone, but when a loved one starts going astray in anything they are doing, if you care you tell em !!

Just watched the Olympic set again. Twice. Except for the beginning, it's one of Paul's best vocals of the past year. I loved it. Tired of the song, though. With all due respect.
I shudder to think of how many times I've heard Hey Jude in 44 years! When it first came out, they played it on the radio at least once an hour (for about 3 months!)
Hey Jude is my ringtone, I hear it like 44 times a day. lol. Love the song.

To be honest I agree with the sentiments of Walliebaby. Paul has been surrounded with people who are yes men (and girls) and sycophants really. Many fans are blinded too (come on admit it!!!). I have found my self in the that trap. When someone at work said he was rubbish at the opening, of course, I made excuses, 'oh he takes a while to warm up, he was ok other than the start, saw him last year and he was great' The defence mode came on. I was ashamed. As no-one seems to have the guts to tell Paul the truth and many fans continue to feed the myth that he is always great, they are hurting the one they love. Now the whole world is telling him! He has to listen. Perhaps, the biggest musical embarrassment of history is the best thing ever to knock some sense into Paul. The Beatles tribute decade should have ended after the Xmas 2009 tour. That was enough, how many more people does he have to give to? Those who demand more Beatle Paul, are hurting him (IMHO). He has given more than any of us deserve. It is time for Paul's normal turn of the decade change - but 2 years too late. Sadly those of us who all wanted those huge and wonderful Wings and solo songs live, now will never see that. His voice is not up to singing the incredibly difficult songs. It would be a let down. Paul was on a no win situation at the Olympics, plays Hey Jude and he gets criticised, don't play it and it is 'Where's Hey Jude'. Over exposure and sadly down to Paul I am afraid. He post 1970 reputation is shot, the only songs that the public like or appreciate are Jet, Live and Let Die, Maybe Im Amazed and Band on the Run. He can't sing any for toffee anymore. The others, he has ignored, so the public has followed suit. Dam, Dam and dam. We have the blues and need to get rid of it quickly.

very interesting we are in agreement on this

Thanks for the vote of support, Denny C (btw, I know how you feel, about several things). Paul needs more (and already has a gazillion, I'm sure) of "Elvis Lovin' Type fans." The sort who just love love love Paul McCartney (and who doesn't love love?) no matter what, and also love and adore to see him having a ball. He looked so good at the Olympics thing, and I'm told despite various joyless nit pickin' reports that he sounded fine, too, for the most part. So what's the big wup? Put a little love in your hearts, people! Try to scrounge up some Luv Macca isn't hard at all to love. You might scratch your noggin in wonderment and mystification now and then, but that's part of the charm.

really...I dropped it at too many phone calls cos your mom is sick...I didn't say why do you that ringtone. I'd prefer my ....GRRRRR....won't say it. I was nice. But here you go again. Now stop it already.

Suzy, I know what you mean. Macca isn't hard to love and apparently even easier to diss.

Unconditional love for Macca in everything he does, no matter what !!?? Thats hard enough to achieve with your nearest loved ones & kids, not a bloke you don' know No wonder he thinks they way he does if this is the line he's fed on a regular basis . And you can hear for yourself how un-fine he sounded, no need to rely on reports.

I agree with everything you said but this sentiment here. Last year in Detroit, Paul was great! and I got to see him! otherwise, what you said was spot on.

Always best to see for yourself, rather than read, reviews probably written prior to the event.

Unconditional love means different things to different people it would seem. Mostly it means acceptance for imperfections (because they make us human with feelings) age, etc. If any of us feel that toward Paul, it's because he's given us great pleasure. As a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, friend and fan, unconditional love comes very easy. I would hope it comes easy to many.

Where's everyone getting this silly notion that the people on here don't love Paul? So some members didn't like his performance, so what! That means they don't love him!? Are your knees sore from jumping to conclusions?

there was a comment that unconditional love was hard. I was commenting on that. Nobody suggested Paul was unloved here. Just battered around a bit.

I really don't think that Paul performance was that poor. A lot has been said in the press and tv but lots was rubbish. To me his voice, his singing, his playing are still great (ok at times just a bit out of tune ) Ok Paul is ageing .. we all are. But really he did great friday night, just a bit of laught at the very beginnin , so what's the point? (btw i never had the chance to buy a vip ticket until now, so if paul ever read these posts and should ever decide to stop touring, you guys will be responsible for the biggest loss in my life )
