THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL

Why didn't Paul release the RRS double album? Wasn't that his original intention? Did the suits talk him out of it?
I think it was Paul's US business manager, Vincent Romeo, who persuaded him to cut down the double 'band album' into a more of a single 'solo album'. Part of their thinking was that Wild Life had failed because people weren't associating Paul McCartney with the Wings name, instead of realising that it failed because it wasn't very good. Subsequently Red Rose Speedway was issued as a Paul McCartney and Wings project. Ironically, Red Rose Speedway wasn't very good either although it sold better.
Years later Paul would comment:
"Red Rose Speedway was the live act. I mean, the albums okay. It has its moments but nothing approaching the impact of the band in person. After I had heard Wild Life, I thought, 'Hell, we have really blown it here.' And the next one after that, Red Rose Speedway, I couldn't stand."
Quite stunning than that it‘s being released as super lavish superdeluxe editition. It‘s up on German Amazon for 214 € and reminds me of the WOA superdeluxe. The more obscure albums get an ever more luxurious ( and expensive ) makeover. Also there are 2 entries for the Vinyl version : one is the format we‘re used to the 2 cd version on vinyl. However the other specifies „Origininal Double Album“.

I do appreciate that but paying over £300 for 7 x cds, 3 x dvds, 1x blu-ray, plus 3 books ,a replica tour programme and other odds and ends, seems very pricey to me.
I don't know what the actual breakdown of pricing is but if for example we say that the cds are £15 each, that comes to £105. The dvds £15 each, thats £45. Blu ray we'll say is £20 then thats £170. If we say the books were £25 each then thats £75 making the total £245. Most chart cds in the UK are about £10 or less and dvds tend to be cheaper than £15 so these are very higher than average prices that are being charged. Based on what I paid for the earlier deluxe boxsets that have been released, then this super duluxe 71 - 73 edition shouldn't be more than £200 top whack.
-
I wish they'd release a CD with just the outtakes, b-sides, etc. I really don't need another copy of RRS (I rarely listen to the one I have) but would love to have something with The Mess and other tracks left off the original release.
-
If you bought the deluxe box set for Wild Life you'd pay $149.00
The cost for Red Rose Speedway is $199.00
So they're only charging you $50.00 for the additional Wings Over Europe package.

I totally hear what you are saying. This is an expensive release. I wonder if all those 1st timers at the concerts will be buying this release? hahaha!

Hopefully, this price is just a marker; I have seen the prices come down after release, and it has paid off for me in the past to wait patiently, psecially now as we have The Beatles White Album ob ost of our holiday wishlists.

RRS will be like Ram. Reevaluated as a solid effort. My Love alone sells it. I love RRS! There's some great rockin' moments on it. Little Lamb Dragonfly is one of his unsung classics. And to see it reissued as the double album intended is awesome! Don't want to pay $200 for it tho. That's more than the Deluxe White Album Box. Too much imo!

I ordered it from them too for the $360 USD. Plus if your credit card, like my AMEX, doesn’t charge a transaction fee to exchange the money, even better!
In £ it would only cost £275.28!
