THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL

Paul McCartney's "Flaming Pie" burns ever brighter in this new reissue, a completist's dream
Great review on the FP Reissue. Really liked the way the writer sets the stage for this album's original release. He really emphasizes that sadly this was Linda's last album with Paul.
Besides the initial and obligatory FP Reissue Announcements from Paul, I have been generally disappointed in the lack of actual "reviews" on the "reissue". Not garnering as much "Reissue" buzz as I had hoped. We still have a few more days until FP actually ships so mayby we'll see a bunch of reviews over the next week.

How did you read this, BJ? I don't have Apple News and I didn't subscribe. It said to read it through Apple News and then just showed a long ad.

Hi!
I bought the Archive Collection-release of "Venus and Mars" on CD some time ago, but noticed that the printing on the two discss were swapped. The disc that said "remastered album" was actually the bonus CD and vice versa.
I couldn't find my copy on Discogs, but here are some scans of the matrixes for the two discs (the first one being what is printed as disc 1, but actually is disc 2):
Does anyone else have a copy with the same misprint?

Susy, you didn't miss anything in this review. I've read this critic before and he generally is anti-McCartney. I don't like critics who show their obvlous bias about an artist they don't like and are "lazy" in giving a "complete review on FP" which is what the headline had said. He ends up by saying that FP wasn't a great album and no amount of extras can make it so. But at the same time, he only mentions a few of the good tracks on FP and fails to even mention great songs on FP like Somedays, Little Willow, Souvenir, Heaven on a Sunday and Great Day. All of these songs I just mentioned rank, in my opinion, among Paul's greatest Solo songs. I even think Somedays, Little Willow and Souvenir are right in the same league as Paul's greatest Beatle songs. Finally, he implies that Paul's career had not only become stagnant in the 10 years prior to FP but even in his Solo and Wings' years proceeding the Beatles. That's what I mean about his obvious bias. In my opinion Paul has had a stellar Post Beatles throughout all his eras.

Thanks for the heads up BJ. I'm not going to bother listening. Totally agree that Paul has had a stellar Post BeaTles throughout all his eras!

The ranking of McCartney/Wings record at the bottom of that Ultimate Classic Rock review reads like they put the albums in a random order and afterwards tried to justify each one's position. NEW worse than Off the Ground? Really?
This Flaming Pie remaster is terrific. All the extra stuff is nice to have, but at it's core, it's a great sounding record full of great songs, and it's great to revisit them. I wish he'd played more of them live in 2002... Calico Skies was great, and I'm glad we got Flaming Pie in 2004, but The World Tonight, Souvenir, and Beautiful Night would all have been worthy additions to the setlist.

Picked up the 2CD Flaming Pie reissue today at Target. 17 bucks!! And worth every penny. Ha. Was never a huge fan of Flaming Pie, just not enough rockers, but still a solid album. The original album sounds brighter on the reissue. The home demo's and rough recordings are fine, but IMO, just not that interesting. BUT, five new songs placed on the second CD, Whole Life, Looking For You, Love Comes Tumbling Down, Broomstick, and Same Love are simply fab. Whoa. Could of easily replaced several songs on the original Flaming Pie and made it a semi-masterpiece. Oh well.

Thanks for letting me know. $17 for the 2 CD set (original 14 track FP album plus a 21 track 2nd CD with all the home recordings and the 5 extra songs. What a great, great value.
For all the Maccaboard members out there... I have a small dilemma. My wife and I recently traded in our 2017 Ford Escape for a brand new 2020 Ford Edge. The minor problem is that like many new cars today, it doesn't have a CD player. That of course is the wave of the future. I love listening to music and especially Paul in the "car" so I know I have to buy/stream this 2 CD Set from one of the various services (Pandora, Spotify, Amazon, etc) Any suggestions?
Yesterday on Maccaboard you could listen to the Archive Edition of Flaming Pie (like 50 tracks including the new Remastered original album). I have to say the remastering job on the original CD sounded great. For those who are now listening to the new Remastered FP, any comments.

Here in the UK, I've just got home from buying this 2 disc version in-store at HMV for £12.99. Not only does the second 'bonus audio' disc have 21 tracks but the playing time is 73:21. Along with the remastered original cd, this release is great value, and probably the best value archive release to date.
The very detailed original Mark Lewisohn booklet credits have been extended to cover the second disc material as well so all in all, this is a brilliant release.
I'm now listening the 'home demos' and am so far very impressed. The demos are f armore subdued and low-key than their fully realised counterparts and are all the better for it. 'The Song We Were Singing' is a good example, its so much more intimate and reflective than the original released version that was trying too hard to be commercial and ended up being insincere.

Did anybody not get theirs yet? Didn't get mine. looking forward to it!

When I bought my Murano I was quite surprised that it still had a cd player! YAY! But it also has a few USB ports. You could always make your own "mix tape" so to speak if you have a USB port to play them.

No, I haven't gotten my hard copies yet. It seems like they got theirs over the pond though. There are unboxing videos online.

Yes I saw those... a few have got them in the States. Was listening to some of the alternate versions yesterday with one of my PM Boardie friends. It's amazing to me how much I miss hearing Linda's harmonies on the versions without her!
