I usually buy the Paul Remasters at one of the big box retailers. I usually buy them on the first or second day and they offer great special deals. Has anything been mentioned about what Tug of War and Pipes of Peace packages Best Buy or Target are offering? Any dates that they will be in the stores. thanks
I've heard that you get a free tote bag at Best Buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/tug-of-war-bonus-disc-cd/4331782.p?id=3420923&skuId=4331782
_______________________________________________________ Thanks oobu24. I thought I heard on Andre Gardner's Breakfast with the Beatles Show this morning that Tug of War and Pipes of Peace will be available to buy this Tuesday (Sept. 29). Not sure if this date is correct and if he was talking about Best Buy. If anyone knows about the September 29 date, let us know. thanks
I don't think so, maybe he's confused. For decades, new releases were coming out on Tuesdays, but a few months ago, the record companies agreed that most of the world would have new releases out on Fridays, so that's what it is now. October 2 is the date you see on all the ads.

Looking forward to my Tug of War coming on Friday!

Some rare TOW interviews have appeared:
______________________________________________________________ I really enjoyed the TOW interview on youtube above. What I enjoyed is that the interviewer obviously heard the whole album and he got Paul to talk about all the songs. If I heard this interview years ago, I probably forgot most of it. Besides Ebony and Ivory and Take It Away which I previously heard Paul discuss on several interviews, I loved Paul's take on the other, non-hit songs. Tidbits I found interesting: * his 4 year old song James favorite track was "Somebody who Cares". He said James would walk around singing the title. One of myfavorite tracks too so this 4 year old had good taste. * Wanderlust...the interviewer talked about the hymn like melody of Wanderlust. Paul agreed and then talked about the origin of the song and how he got into an argument with the one captain and then he left to try another boat. Sounds so strange that someone would get into an argument with Macca. *Ballroom Dancing - Paul talked about how he and George would go to the theaters that offered Ballroom dancing but they were normally too afraid to ask a girl to dance. *Pound is Sinking -Paul talked about the origin of that song He brought up all the songs on Tug of War which I really found interesting.

Its funny how in that first interview Paul had totally forgotten about working with George Martin on the Ram album? ....... and in the second interview as well !!!
My understanding is that Martin simply sent Paul some orchestral scores for several of the RAM tracks, as per Paul's request and instructions (he already had the parts worked out). So they didn't really work 'together' in the same was as on Live and let die.
That would explain why Paul overlooked the collaboration although I do remember reading that George Martin flew to New York to be at the session !!

For RAM, George Martin worked on the orchestral scores but he did not meet Paul. They worked together on the arrangement and production of "Live and Let Die". Also, Martin helped McCartney on some other tracks in the same period (late 1972) but his contribution has been never credited.

So, 'Tug of War' and 'Pipes of Peace' are coming out. What about the future? my expectations... 1. Press To Play/Flowers In The Dirt: I guess they're the next ones. I don't expect anything from PTP... is an awful album, but curiously it has one of my preferred songs, 'Footprints'. Maybe PTP won't be released and 'Off The Ground' will take his place, but honestly, if you have heard 'The Complete Works', why would you need a reedition? 2. London Town/Back To The Egg: LT deserves an extraordinary reedition. The period '77-'78 was incredibly productive for Paul and Wings, however, many songs were not included in the oficial tracklist. I don't know if there's extra material on BTTE, that's why I believe it will be a very simple reedition, including 'Daytime Nightime Suffering' as a big new. My personal "illusion": a single version of 'Winter Rose/Love Awake' without the 'Love Awake' part . Is such a wonderful song, followed by a boring soft pop balad. 3. Flaming Pie: This is a personal wish. My preferred album. I'm conscious that FP is only 18 years old, therefore the reedition is not necessary yet. 4. Wild Life/Red Rose Speedway: Time to complete the Wings's reedition. I like WL so maybe it will surprise us. RRS is almost perfect, we just need a version of '1882' to be forever happy

Update: I received an e-mail from importcds.com saying that my deluxe Pipes Of Peace was shipped just 24 hours after I placed my order. That was fast!

Press To Play is a very solid rock and roll album. It is not awful. Sometimes the visitors to this website drive me mad. McCartney has NEVER recorded an awful album. The flippant comments made about Pauls' music by people who haven't done squat in the music industry just makes me sad. As I have said before, it's Paul &$&$&@@!! McCartney!!!!

For the McCartney's standards is an awful album, his weakest effort by far. Of course, if you comparte PTP with the current music, well, it is a good album. But to my ears, PTP is just a lot of modern sounds with no direction and sense. PTP has an esencial problem: most of the compositions are bad, simply bad. Just my opinion.
