If true then I am happy for this to be on the list. However, like the other members have stated, why not the other releases and at a much faster pace?
Because they were working on the Beatles 1 project maybe?
Possibly, but even still they have had 5 (nearly 6) years since the first archive releases. If they had done 3 per quarter we might have most of them out already.
I think that this is just a real silly comment. So many things go into making these things that this is just a young, impatient and unrealistic thought. First off, Paul has his hand I. Everything and with his busy schedule makes things tough right away. The. There's designing the whole lot. Let us not forget that they must book time with the people doing the teamsters/remixing. It's not like they only work for Paul and then of course there's promotion and let us not forget distribution. United does the distribution and again, this is a label that distributes for 100's of artists. I agree that I wish things were sped up but I can see where things get snagged up
Points well taken. Although my thoughts are more along the lines of the following: Obviously Paul has a busy schedule and things can get delayed. Sure. The 1993 re-releases came a lot faster( I realize sort of Apple's and oranges, no pun intended). If not all of the archives will get the super deluxe treatment, then how about the 2cd 1dvd treatment(thinking non deluxe Band on the Run). I guess the frustration I do feel is that at any point this project could grind to a halt. I figure open the floodgates ( easier said than done I get that). Just my rambling thoughts.

It is certainly apples to oranges. 1993 remasters had little to no Paul involvement just approving bonus tracks and final approval. With these sets, he approves every small detail making this a pain staking project. I really don't think there's a way to get them much faster. I would think at least the last 4 Wings albums will get boxes but after that who knows. Plus apparently Flowers in the Dirt. If he gives up on project, I seriously doubt that you'll get a 2cd 1 DVD set for whatever remains. One can only hope that like George, he leaves behind instructions on what's left. At this pace, he won't outlive every album getting this treatment at this pace. If he put them all out tomorrow in deluxe sets, I'd be first on line to buy them all.
-
No interest in these remasters that promised so much. Extras have all been lame, most collectors have had them for decades: video and audio. Should have started with McCartney, then Ram, Wildlife, RRS...etc. Do the Wings things first. The books have appeal, but of course they cannot be purchased alone. Add to that the fact he might have done, say two or three songs pertaining to the releases, and announcing them as such at concerts. But no. Paul must have his reasons, but...

I would say these Archive sets exist to make money, not to give fans everything they want. If they intended to put all the albums out, they would be coming out faster. Instead, they chose to build up anticipation and make each one an event. I think that very soon it will come to a point where the cost of putting them together won't be justified by how much they sell. Paul himself is not that excited about the remaining '70s titles, which is why I think he moved on to TOW and POP and now Flowers In The Dirt. I'm betting on Flaming Pie for 2017, and then maybe he'll go back to the '70s ones, possibly in scaled-down sets, just to have everything out there, because almost all of his later albums through Chaos... have already had straight reissues (possibly remastered?) by Concord. There still could be some kind of general boxed set of unreleased stuff, though, including video.

The whole thing, of course, will be boxed up once all done and over.... will be cheaper per unit cost and have even more features added to sell it. I haven't bought all the new releases, simply because the extras didn't justify it. Didn't buy Band on the Run, cos I bought the special 25-year anniversary in '98, and there comes a time when enough is enough. Am buying the Tug of War and Pipes of Peace ones though... maybe cos they were two of the earlier real-time releases for me growing up, so there is that romantic aspect for me. Still, Back to the Egg and London Town would've been two of the more intriguing releases. Will be irked if they don't happen.

All the sets so far have highlighted albums that Paul sees as accomplishments:
If Paul really does see Pipes Of Peace as an 'accomplishment' then he really does need his head examining.
yep there are a couple of lame songs on the album remember one reviewer saying Paul was capable of writing great pop songs and at the same time the worst pop songs

I agree, it's not an album to really be proud of, but it had a couple of big hits, and it's kind of the companion piece to Tug Of War, so I guess it qualifies as an accomplishment.

Pipes Of Peace, despite its hit-singles, is an obvious record-label contractual obligation.

It's obviously the opposite of Tug Of War, in that most every song on Tug Of War was excellent. I think the whole album is, though some may differ. But Pipes Of Peace has two or three great songs, and the rest is filler. Poor songs, especially for a musician of Paul's caliber. A remaster is not going to improve them.

On its release in 1989 'Flowers In The Dirt' was a much needed return to form for Paul but I'm quite disappointed that the Archive Collection series hasn't returned to those early Wings albums.
They will all be released eventually. Maybe not in deluxe versions, but all will see the light of day. The ones not already released in the Archive Collection are out of print now, and until they are reissued they are without a label. Glad to see Flowers in the Dirt up next. Hard to believe that was 26 years ago!

Is there a time frame fo Flaming Pie?

I buy 'em mostly for the books.

No, I'm just guessing on that one. No official announcement, but it wouldn't be before 2017 at this rate.

An "insider" on another forum states it will be the one to follow Flowers. He's often been correct with predictions. He stated ToW and PoP would be next after V&M/SoS way back in October 2013, when everyone was assuming more Wings albums would be next...

Yeah..but did he suspect or predict the curve ball we were just served for FITD? Everyone and their grandma assumed the next reissues would be back to finish the Wings era in '16 and '17. Guess we have 362 days to go to find the 'coming soon' card in the FITD set.

First review of the new releases that I have seen. Looks like they are both very good. http://www.themortonreport.com/entertainment/music/music-review-paul-mccartney-tug-of-war-and-pipes-of-peace-archive-collection/

Well-written review, he knows his stuff.

Both sets are very good. If you've like the sonic upgrades on past sets, you won't be disappointed. I love the bonus tracks. Wish there were more of course but what can you do. Been listening for about a week now and still enjoying.
