I wish we could get a full, clear, soundboard release of a '72 or '79 Wings concert. Hopefully if BTTE gets a release, we will get the live cuts, too.
I think if we get a BTTE release, the most likely live cut stuff will be from the Kampuchea show.
that would be great! we all got the email about the sept23 & 24th, right?
Did Wings play anything besides Rockestra at the Kampuchea show? I know other shows (including Glasgow, which is the source behind the 'Last Flight' bootleg) are rife with BTTE numbers...But unless the compilation set from Kampuchea only included a small portion of a larger Wings set (which would be news to me), then they'd have to look at other shows from the 1979 tour to dig for BTTE songs
Performed by Wings: Got To Get You Into My Life Getting Closer Every Night Arrow Through Me Coming Up Performed by the Rockestra: Lucille Let It Be Rockestra Theme

Ah...so they have three selections to go with...going to have to dig around so I can hear Getting Closer and Arrow Through Me from that set (only heard them during the 'Last Flight' show)...Obviously Rockestra was already included on the official release

Wings 1979 set list. Couple of observations: 1). It's refreshing to see Paul play obscure songs & not just the hits - Wings & Beatles. A far cry from his nostalgic Beatles-dominated, hit-dominated tours since 1990. 2). Has Paul ever played With a Little Luck live?? Even in 1979 he refuses to play it. A great tune which would go well live. Hard to understand. 3). Paul is willing to experiment & plays new tunes like Coming Up before they are released. He should have continued to experiment in concert.
-
Coming Up is one of those songs that sounds completely bored in studio but sounds amazing on the stage. Last Flight's version is incredible, his voice and his bass give everything!!

"With a Little Luck" was never performed live, but it was rehearsed (
) to play in Japan in 1980. But, of course, we all know what happened. -

That's my favorite version ('79 live)! A live, remastered soundboard version of "Last Flight" is at the top of my wish list! Some great cuts there (and at Kampuchea, too). I do indeed hope the concert versions of "Getting Closer", "Again and Again and Again", and "Arrow Through Me" make any future Back to the Egg release.

Oooh, looking forward to the Back to the Egg re-release! Should be a beauty, if done in its entirety. And London Town, for that matter. Some "lost" treasures, as pointed out, over that time period. In the meantime, really looking forward to Venus and Mars.... almost prefer it to Band on the Run... Do think, though, that Wings at the Speed of Sound (albeit a great title for an album) was a little underwhelming for a band that was at its peak. Too many throw-aways. Too much non-Paul. A few great tracks, one as great as they ever did (Silly Love Songs), but a little lazy and forced with a few of the songs. It wasn't a time to rest on one's laurels. And I think they were guilty of this with that offering. Should've put the foot on the accelerator, but hit a few "stop" signs on the way - and to be blunt, the decision to "prove" Wings as a real "band" backfired with this album. They were a great band, tight and terrific, but always better and more cohesive when the lead singer sang the vast, vast amount of their songs.

Yes, they did Got To Get You Into My Life, Every Night, Coming Up. Then the "Rockestra" group did Lucille, Let It Be and the Rockestra theme.

My bad...I meant anything from BTTE besides Rockestra...but that question has been answered:-)

Meanwhile, back at the V&M/SoS reissue: Does anyone know how soon we might see an alternative vendor for pre-ordering? As a matter of principle, I do not buy from Amazon when there are viable alternatives.

Don't know when that would be. What principle, may I ask? Fight the power?

The Concert for Kampuchea LP is available! I have the LP at home.
And just to add, although it was never reissues on cd (or subsequent formats), it is readily available on bootlegs (meaning the original official recording that was released on vinyl burned to cd, so they sound good)
