THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
-
There's still a lot of material that hasn't been released as a deluxe/remaster (Just Wings alone, there's still Wild Life, Red Rose Speedway, Venus and Mars, Speed of Sound, London Town, Back To The Egg), I wish we'd hear something or have a sign that it's going to continue, or if it's going forward. Of course I'd love to have the entire Wings catalog remastered in their deluxe sets, but I'd hate to see them release a couple of more and then call it quits while leaving the last handful hanging. The idea of an incomplete set doesn't appeal to me. After Wings Over America, the album I most wanted to see/hear remastered and given its spotlight back was "Venus and Mars". I had been counting down to this summer since I saw the teaser in the WOA Deluxe set! Then again, I also had hoped for "Give My Regards To Broad Street" on remastered Blu-Ray with a soundtrack, but that's much more of a wishlist than a likelihood. Then again, a couple of years back, I never thought Rockshow would get the treatment it did...so who knows?

Cant believe Red Rose Speedway doesnt have a deluxe edition. It was intended as a double album for goodness sakes!! So many gems from those sessions. A travesty.

Maybe if the rumor is true of no more deluxe editions, that could simply refer to the very pricy editions with the books. They could still do remastered CDs with bonus CDs/DVDs without the whole book packaging. So I think you could still see Red Rose Speedway (and all the other albums) with all the extra songs...hopefully that's not just wishful thinking.

I was reading somewhere today that the Deluxe Collections have been cancelled.
Well that's not exactly helpful. What is your source? WHERE did you read this? Provide a link? Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if they had cancelled the deluxe editions. They're very expensive to produce and many of Paul's fans did little but complain about their cost and what was included in them. If the sales figures of the deluxe editions didn't show a profit, there's no point in continuing, especially since 2014 seems to be the ground zero year for the complete collapse of CD sales. It's too bad he didn't get to Venus and Wars, Wild Life, and Red Rose Speedway, but I'm not sure the other Wings albums merit a deluxe edition anyway, and all his recent great solo work is available. So if the deluxe sets are costing more to produce than they are generating in revenue, there's no point in continuing in this music market. That said, I do wish he'd invest money in his reissues rather than in that silly robot. I'd rather see the reissues than the robot. Obviously I'm stating an opinion on something that has no basis in fact yet. So it would be nice to have a source for this rumor you've "read somewhere."
how much do they change when they remaster them? i mean seriously. WWL already has been put out with extra material and there can't be that much more left to put out. and all those lp's came out at roughly the same time, give or take a few years, and or in or around the same time. i'd love to get a remastered copy of V&M but i don't really care for another copy of lunchbox/oddsox? there really can't be that much more left that we haven't heard. country dreamer keeps turning up and so does a live version the mess. who needs more of those? pfft!

I'm still looking...I thought it was on WogBlog, but it wasn't. Wherever I read it, it wasn't on PaulMcCartney.com, so it wasn't exactly official. It was one of the many Beatles related websites I looked at for details on the archive collections.

I will be sad if this is true : (

Well, I suppose that happens because you're a woman. Men are usually more obssesive about having it all - namely outtakes, demos, rehearsals, etc.
No...some women want it all too, my friend.
SInce when does an interest in demo tapes come down to gender? But then, Rock and Roll was always anti-woman with women fighting for their place

That's what I'm hoping. I did buy the deluxes because I enjoyed them but I'd just want the original albums on a good quality CD

I have many, lotsa, a big bunch of Beatle friends all over the world and the tendency is that males obsess about having every bit of music they can get their hands on and women obsess about Paul the man. Of course there are exceptions to every rule and I'm not saying one is better than the other. I want to see more deluxe editions but I am frustrated of them holding back material. Once again, if you're gonna give us a super giant expensive deluxe Over America set, why include just 8 bonus songs and not a complete concert?

he has got a bruise on his little finger in this interview? dunno if thats related ie: drips or hospital equipment?

I do not think that is a current pic. It's from a video for another's album which had to be done previously. And...hasn't he always had a blood blister looking thing on one of his fingers? and what does this have to do with the remasters?

Correct you are sir... But there are always exceptions to the rules.

They've been teasing V&M and SOS for at least four years. Hard to believe they would just drop them now; they must have accumulated enough archival material by now to go ahead with it. Paul's manager has said that he has full-time archivists digitizing all the music and photos and magazines, etc. I can see these two being the end of the big boxes, though, since the others would probably not be big sellers, but I think this year is unlikely with all the other releases coming (plus the new album still being promoted). Hope we get confirmation soon on this.

okay, since you know so much about genders and how they behave, what about me? I've got gender dysplasia. from back in the early 80s, late 70s so it was treated differently then.

Can you read English Kathryn? I said there's always exceptions to the rule.

BAscially, I find that musicians are the ones who obsess over the music. Groups of musicians around me do tend to be mostly male and male dominated. (Hey, the concept of girls in rock and roll was novel once upon a time....they had to really fight to break in)

I'm only interested in these remastered CDs because of the bonus material and the documentation of the Archive Collection. Otherwise I'm good with what I have. I'm looking forward to Venus and Mars. My favorite Wings LP.

My gut says 2014 Holiday season from this release.

Could be, but something tells me he'll be promoting the "Early Days" video then (if "Save Us" is imminent).
