This is a very appropriate thread for me. Recently I bought a Tablet and have been downloading Macca songs through the MP3 Player Pro. I wanted to focus on Post Beatles Paul and all the songs I had not listened to in a long time. Obviously, they're not played on the radio. The Macca library was quite deep so it was great to hear these songs. Here's just a few songs that to my ears have aged very well. *Souvenir - Not the most popular song when Flaming Pie first came out, but I love Paul's Soul voice and the melody. I think if a young soul singer with the right voice covered this song, it could be a massive hit. Combines soul and rock. *Daytime Nightime Suffering - One of Paul's great B-Sides. He should have put this on Back to the Egg. Great thing about Paul diversity is this is a hard song to define. What genre is it? Sounds different than anything else but is great on its own *I'm Carrying -- So beautiful...one of the songs from Londontown that George Harrison described as one of his favorite Paul songs. Beautiful guitar *Little Willow -- One of my all time Paul solo songs...in my estimation, right up there with Paul's greatest Beatle songs. Boy, did Flaming Pie have some great songs. For anyone who has lost someone, the line "always came too soon" always gets to me *Maybe Baby -- Obviously a Buddy Holly cover and I first heard it on U-Tube. It was on a movie sound track (the actor in the movie had a big TV medical show)..can't think of his name. Love Paul and Jeff Lynn's take on this cover that is decidedly faster than the original. *Mistress and Maid -- Paul and Elvis Costello's song on Off the Ground. I was surprised how great it sound after not hearing it in a long time. *My Soul -- Paul teamed with Nitin Sawhney (London Undersound) CD Love the melody and Paul's older voice works really well. Love the lyrics..."My soul, Your Heart, Two Worlds Apart etc. *Single Pigeon -- Always loved this piano one from Red Rose Speedway * Lovers That Never Were -- Another great Paul/Elvis one from Off the Ground *This Loving Game - I woke up the other morning with this song in my head. Great melody from the Jenny Wren EP I'll come back with more...There are so many Hidden Gems from his Post Beatles' Career
Wow, I totally forgot about "I'm Carrying". It is a beautiful song and forgotten gem.

Probably every song he wrote after the Beatles... or am I to cynical now?
Maybe a bit, think songs off BOTR were not underrated.
Oke, too cynical... But I think that everyone here agrees that the list of underrated songs is very, very long.
Without a doubt, very long list. I would add TOW album to the list that is not underrated especially by critics, think quite a few people here think it is overrated but not me - lol.

Underrated by whom? If you're talking about critics/the general public, I'd say pretty much anything Paul's done in the last 20 years, plus Silly Love Songs at the very least. If we're talking about fans, I'd say the most underrated are Feet in the Clouds, Everybody Out There, Looking for Changes and Ebony and Ivory, and most overrated by fans by miles and miles is The Back Seat of My Car. I suspect some opinions will differ.
I love all those songs you mentioned...why are those songs considered underrated may I ask? And what do those critics have to say about those songs you mentioned? I normally do not pay any attention to stuff like this much because I love any song Paul has done.
Critics slam Silly Love Songs all the time. And people on here have trashed many of the songs on my underrated-by-fans list. What can I say? Tastes vary.

The song Tug Of War is greatly unappreciated. I believe had it been a Lennon song that John recorded it would have been a mammoth anthem in the vein of Imagine only bigger.
-
Other song that I forgot: Somebody who cares.

Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People Smile Away Take It Away Dear Friend London Town So Glad To See You Here
-
Warm and beautiful.... ...and wanderlust

Coming up with the most underrated song might take some long thought, but it has always puzzled me that a lot of fans dislike "English Tea" and "Get It." Love 'em.
-
"Get it" is a treasure... and I think "It's Not True" (production and all) is underrated.... "I've Had Enough", "Oh Woman Oh Why"... just for starters ... and whilst not on an official album I think "A Love For You" is a beauty.

I'm with you, Audi. I wouldn't rate either as masterpieces, but they're charming and fun.

Little Lamb Dragonfly is truly a gem. I dont think anyone outside of hardcore Macca fans have heard it. Its a beautiful song about his complex relationship with John, written at a time when they were starting to make-up.

Good list, but the omission of the Number #1 hit Listen to What the Man Said is a sin. Pure Macca pop. I also would have included Let em In, Take it Away, Tug of War, & Pipes of Peace somewhere in the Top 30. But, he gets points for NOT including Ebony & Ivory and Say, Say, Say!!

Here's my 2nd group of underrated, unknown gems from Paul's Solo work: *Dear Boy - from Ram...love the Beachboy harmonies *Don't Let It Bring You Down - from London Town...love this folky, jazzy sound *Ever Present Past - from Memory Almost Full ...sounds like it cuold have been on McCartney 2; love the melody and makes me want to dance (And I Can't dance) *Feet in the Clouds - another from Memory Almost Full...again Paul gives his nod to the hamonies of the Beachboys; great song *Somedays - Another classic from Flaming Pie; such a beautiful song and lyrics that makes you think of Linda *Little Lamb Dragonfly - Just love this folky, guitar based song *Magneto and Titanium - Love both the studio and Wings Over America versions; what a rocker *Midnight Special - had to include a cover. This version from the Russian Album is my favorite version because Paul's rocking vocals here are so great *One of These Days - closes out the Mccartney 2 album; classic Macca ballad *Put It There - from Flowers in the Dirt...love that Paul wrote the song from his Father's expression of love to his kids

Good list, but the problem is that most of Paul's best post-Beatles tracks were never singles. But then, that's the way it is with most artists.

Some songs are just too good for radio.
